How is 1.3 holding up?

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 8:34 am

I have had a few small bugs that I didnt before.

- Corpes are sometimes 'stiff'' and hold a position until moved or pushed (guard stiff and straight laying on one arm, and a mamoth corpse that was standing)
- Ancient Nord weapons now have a purple shade to them, especially the reflections/shine
- Named Dragon corpes previously killed now have their skin again.

*Spoiler*

- In the quest 'A Blade In the Dark' (done a 2nd time after having to go back to previous save) there was no mystical vortex around the barrow this time, and Alduin had no features, just a purpleish shape (maybe just the model with no testure applied?)

Thats all I have noticed so far.

after installing 1.3.7:

- noticed NO performance improvement, on the contrary even some slight stuttering now in areas where it didnt happen before.

- got 90 hours of playtime never experienced the dragon bug where they refused to give a soul after killing it (and that bug should have been fixed in the patch) first dragon i killed after new patch: surprisingly .... did... NOT give any soul to me!

- also a random CTD after playing the game a while. (happened a few seconds after fast traveling).

this stuff makes me want to patch my wounds but heck... at least the blood decals will look more realistic compared to false patch promises:P

I call that a master marketing.

release several updates that will totally bug and break the game, then release update that doesn't really fix (It doesn't - it didn't even fix all the stuff 1.2 broke) or break anything too much and you'll get praised.
I see what you did there Bethesda.

Kind of going off topic here a bit, instead of DRM they should have done what Series Sam 3 did.
Stick a pink unkillable scorpian in any games that aren't activated legally hehe very funny (youtube clips if you search).

Using the 1.3 patch and the Skyrim4GB launcher. Played for some 5 hours. No glitches. Smooth. Nothing to complain about at all.
Same here with 1.3 and LAA, Win 7 x64, GTX 580, Ultra + a few tweaks.

But then I tried the non-LAA route, just for fun and I got a CTD after 30 minutes, which is about the same for me.

A couple bugs that have shown up in v1.3:

1) When reloading a previous save, some perks are not applied (ex. Heavy Armor - the no weight perk is not in effect and if you happen to be carrying alot then you'll be encumbered).

2) Followers get "stuck running in place" (not stuck as in trapped on a stairwell or other object , but stuck in one spot w/ nothing around but air). If you fast travel, they'll still follow you but will still be stuck in one spot w/ running animation.

No mods and no ini tweaks yet. Aside from those weird bugs and having to run steam again, the patch is pretty solid and one should have no worries about updating from v1.1.

Anyone else having a wierd issue shooting arrows at people in bedrolls? I fire an arrow into a guy, and it disappears. Shoot another 4 and they keep disappearing....

I get detected by the guy (I was stealthed) and suddenly all 4 arrows show up and he dies instantly! I don't recall having this problem with 1.1.

I've played a bit, bout 150hrs now, mostly noticed this was in areas a dragon is dedicated to be. There is a post or three on the forums about such as well. I think it is meant to be on these areas. (Like having a dragon soul is hard to come by, so farming them pointless in the areas they will always be), Those areas being certain word walls etc, where most times you fast travel or walk to have a dragon waiting.
These dragons may have loot, but no soul and skin stays on.

This has happened to me 4 times, and always in places I had encountered a 'go here and find source of power quest, involving a dragon'.

Otherwise, randoms always 100% dragon souls.

Fun! Good news! Thanx! :) i am thinking about trying the 4GB launcher after all the patches are done, if it seems it might still improve things then. So glad to hear it is still working well for u post 1.3 patch.

I was getting fairly frequent, random CTDs with my game, along with purple dragons and other objects, even after patching to 1.3. I used the 4Gb launcher for the first time tonight, and got in almost 4 hours without a single crash or missing texture. The game ran much more smoothly as well, and load times were significantly reduced (though they weren't very long before I used the 4Gb launcher). I highly recommend this, at least to try, if you're having problems with your game.

No new real issues that I think I can blame the patch for. My graphics looked like they had taken a severe beating with an uglystick, but that was a Steam issue, and not a patch 1.3 issue.

And it works with the 4gb patch, so I am somewhere between moderately satisfied and somewhat satisfied.

I've been getting a lot of CTDs since 1.3, whereas before I'd only experienced a few in 70-80 hours of play.

Sorry guys, but I went back to 1.1.

1.3 cuts my framerate by about 20-25%. Plus FXAA doesn't work properly with it. Soon as I reverted back to 1.1 I had a big smile on my face, as I saw framerate shoot back up into a rock solid 60fps pretty much everywhere, unlike 1.3.

I seriously doubt I will upgrade from 1.1 any time soon, unless there is a HUUUGE and SIGNIFICANT benefit to doing so. Being framerate [censored] I am, I gotta have my 60fps :)

In what way? I am using FXAA with 1.3 patch fine, as it was with 1.2.

Same issue here buddy. 1.3 may have fixed some other issues , but it's made my crashing more frequent.

Absolutely no problems with 1.3, 1.2 was fine as well for me the resistance bug aside everything was fine and 1.3 fixed the resistance bug. No crashes or freezes in over 14 hours of playing with 1.3

My experience with the game so far:

Unpatched version - no crashes.
Patch 1.1 - occasional crashes.
Patch 1.2 - skipped.
Patch 1.3 - no crashes.

So far so good, played it for about 4 hours total..with 2 of those hours being consecutive. Few .ini tweaks and the 4GB patch from Nexus, no mods. I haven't crashed or anything so I assume all is well.

so far in patch land:

unpatched from Disks wouldn't run on Win7, but ran fine in Linux wine med+.
1.1 ran at high on Win7, high+ with 4gbskyrim mod. Linux/wine it CTDs after 20-30min on med.
1.2 initially didn't run on either. I read a post about verifying corrupted files with steam and it worked. ran at High- in win7, CTDd after 10-15min in linux/wine.
1.3 runs at high in Win7, runs just below Ultra if I use the 4gbskyrim mod. CTDs in linux/wine after 10-20 on med.

I've been turning off normal anti-aliasing and using FXAA on all of the above.

yes, i know linux/wine isn't supported. just giving feedback.

Crashes every 15 mins. Do have a minimal fps boost of 3-4 fps in general.

Only Build so far that worked for me is the 1.1 with the nexus 4gb launcher v4

every other version has been FUBAR

Hell! I've fallen into a bad habit. I play for hours without saving. With no more CTDs, I guess I've relied on autosaves. I have no reason to save every ten minutes like I did pre-Skyrim4GB.exe. But I run the risk of getting killed and losing two or three hours. So now I force save before every risky venture.

It reminds me of 1984. "The bug count has increased to 500." (later) "The bug count has been reduced to 500."

If you're messing with ini files, and use the console ingame to edit it and then use the saveini command, it seems to randomly generate a random ini file based on the name of one of your plugin files or just skyrim.ini in your data folder, which will break your game unless you delete the damned file.

took me a while to figure out.

otherwise i'm not having any more problems with it than any other version.... but its not like it... fixed anything for me.
