How is 1.3 holding up?

Post » Sat May 26, 2012 8:16 am

Hey 360 user here. I just wanted to check on how the new patch was working for you guys. I'm getting kinda worried it might cause more problems.

I've notice a small (but gamebreaking) bug: If I'm dual wielding spells and ready them, I can't run anymore. Spell + shield and weapon + shield works fine. 2 spells? Can't run, even after I put them away.

All reports seem to be minimal if any negative impact, and fixes a few issues. 'course you can't believe everything you read in the forums, can you?

I call that a master marketing.

release several updates that will totally bug and break the game, then release update that doesn't really fix (It doesn't - it didn't even fix all the stuff 1.2 broke) or break anything too much and you'll get praised.
I see what you did there Bethesda.

works fine for me, although every once in a while I can't run for a bit. Also, the quivers seem to hover a lot higher off your back than before. Didn't notice this before the patch. Still waiting for the dual spell hotkey switch fix.

Because the 360 players don't have the patch yet, and want to know what they're in for?

@ the OP - so far so good, here. Dragons and resistances are fixed, and game performance seems to have been given a bit of a boost. I have noticed that shadows are considerably uglier, and I've got some sort of "stuck sound emitter" bug...after visiting the Solitude blacksmith, every time I walk into one of the other shops I keep hearing a grindstone going. Constantly.

I can't play the game on Ultra anymore. Yesterday I could, ~30 fps in cities and outside, 60 fps inside, today 10 fps everywhere. Yesterday the game says run it on Ultra, today it says run it on high. Just bought a new graphics card and it was working yesterday, but not today makes me mad. It's Skyrim, not the card. Other games (Starcraft 2, Deus Ex: HR, Crysis, etc.) all run 40 fps plus with AA, shadows, everything maxed some even tweaked above max.

I'm getting 30-40 fps outdoors, either the same as with 1.2 or slightly more. But now I have this screen tearing problem :(

Using the 1.3 patch and the Skyrim4GB launcher. Played for some 5 hours. No glitches. Smooth. Nothing to complain about at all.

I like how a dragon and a giant killed each other. When I got there the dragon hadn't melted yet so I got his loot and his soul.

Unfortunately, it has done nothing for me. I was using SKSE to take care of the resistance problem and that seems to be the only thing 1.3 fixed. My main problems are still unresolved. I am very disappointed and frustrated to the point that I feel like quitting.

Actually u must have just noticed this on, if u are talking about the 'quivers' (pack on your back that holds the arrows in it too), because it was already doing that after the 1.2 patch. It did not bother me much, so i did not complain, but u really only noticed it if u were viewing your player character from the side. But glad it is mostly working good for u otherwise since the new patch. When u experience not be able to run for a moment, is that only happening when u have magic equipped in one hand and a weapon in the other or is it at random?

Fun! Good news! Thanx! :) i am thinking about trying the 4GB launcher after all the patches are done, if it seems it might still improve things then. So glad to hear it is still working well for u post 1.3 patch.

Works fine for me. No issues so far through 1 hour gameplay. Performance is the same.

Only thing I've noticed is alt-tab seems less stable (couldn't alt-tab back into it one time even using the two time trick of alt tab in, out, in). Game music stops when alt-tabbing out as expected but background noise (running water, wind, crickets, etc.) continues to play.

Overall no complaints though.

Ok maybe people need to read the patch notes again to see what it actually contained so people will stop posting about "still having problems" when its usually something not even in the patch.

despite 1.3 promised to fix the bookshelf issue, my bookshelves at breezehome still don't work.

I think I remember the game to run much smoother before any patch, especially in towns when now there is a slight drop in performance but nothing too serious.

So I can fnally log back into Steam?! :o Managed to avoid the 1.2 fiasco by staying offline - guess I will take a full backup of the folder though.

Haven't fully tested it fully yet but Breezehome bookshelves may still have a problem. If the bookshelf says you may store 11 books or 18 books, store the maximum -1. Storing the full quota is likely to make the shelves and books inaccessible. At least that was the problem with 1.2. After the 1.3 update, my shelves are loaded, look good and all books are able to be read or removed. I am sticking with my x-1 rule until I have the time for more testing.

A final note. If your loaded bookshelf was borked with 1.2, 1.3 won't fix it, won't recover your books. There may be a console command to free your books but I've gone back to the save I made just before storing my books.
