Since it only concerns the Xbox360 version, the affected userbase is apparently too small for Obsidian to give a shi*.

I'm pretty sure I've hit this glitch, too, now. I was almost 18 hours in. I wasn't in Vault 3 though. I had already left it well behind before this nice surprise popped up. I was back in Freeside. For better or worse, I was only 18 hours in.

Blech.

I feel really bad for the people who didn't make enough saves to recover their hours of gameplay, whether they be 6 or 60 hours, it svcks. I do believe that they wil patch this, but it would be nice if they specifically addressed this in some sort of announcement.

What I really hate about Xbox 360 game updates is that you have no idea what's being patched. I hope that when they do it, they let us know they've done it.

Here Here I'm not going to give up on the game but if its not fixed before Nov 8th then its going towards black ops and I'll just wait till it drops in price or something hopefully eventually they fix what they broke

i got the DLC bug today, my last working save is in vault 3 from last night. i got the error today after work, found a working file, replayed about an hour then played an additional 3. i didn't like the way something was going so i went to load a save from ten minutes back and got the error again. every save after vault 3 is busted. i guess i can go play a different way, but i don't want to. i was going to try to finish the game this weekend in preparation for black ops, but now i don't know. I bought it at Target, i wonder if they will take it back...

there is no excuse for this BS, there are too many good games to be wasting my time on this frustrating POS

maybe they made the bug to help get new members to the forum. yeah... im new here.

That's where it I started noticing it. Fallout 3 had no problems for me. I feel like when Bethesda handed this game over to Obsidian (FOUNDED BY FORMER BLACK ISLE EMPLOYEES, REMEMBER THEM) that this all happened. The original Fallouts were buggy as hell. And this was a problem with all the Black Isle releases. Still love those games. But I had to wait for patches to make many of those games playable.

Got the bug again last night. I was wrong. The bug does not necessarily originate from something that occurs in the Maintenance Wing. This time, after speaking to various characters at Camp McCarran, I ventured off to kill Driver Nephi. The closest thing to s location was the dreaded Vault 3, which I had completely cleaned out except for Motor-Runner's gang in the Maintenance Wing. Remembering someone mentioning a lost Ranger, I decided to re-enter the vault, since I had run into him before but didn't know who he was and, at the time, the dialog led to no solution. Thankfully, I saved just before re-entering the vault. After speaking to the Ranger about his wounded leg, I left Vault 3 to go in search of a Doctor's Bag. From then on, the saves were corrupt. The pre-vault save is fine, though.

I wonder if people who are experiencing the glitch have something about their particular game- some item or timing of quest events- that makes them more susceptible to running into the glitch, or if it really is location/event based and could happen to anyone. I have number of friends who are well past me in the game, and they haven't run into anything.

Finished the game 10 minutes ago without the dlc error (after encountering it on my first attempt after cleaning the hidden valley bunker and before saving the president)
Differences between my first and second try were:
- sidequests only up to the "for the republic,2" quests
- "for the republic,2" straight through
- "you'll know it when it happens" and "eureka" straight through
- siding with the brotherhood (because killing resulted in the dlc error i suppose, i'm not sure what triggerd the error in my first attempt)
- save and reload after every quest!!!

I did "come fly with me" both times (didn't trigger the error)
I visited vault 3 only on my second try (didn't trigger the error either)

I don't know if this will help someone but SAVE and RELOAD (on different savegames of course) as often as possible

Only my saves after "Come Fly With Me" were affected. I saved prior to entering the room where you have to push the launch button and that still works

Oh man. I thought it was because my xbox is currently offline due to moving. I figured that I would be fine once I got the internet up and running and downloaded the update from last week. Reading these comments leads me to believe I am screwed. I tried my last three save files and each resulted in the same download content error. I stopped trying because I was afraid I was somehow corrupting the files by trying to load them.

By the way, I just finished Come Fly With Me before the error occurred. I have not been to a vault yet.

my game experienced the same issues after the "come fly with me" mission. i just got to novac to sell some goods. i saved the game then quit, but when i returned it either freezes if i choose the continue option, and it gives me the dlc error (down loadable content is required.... cannot find memory) when i choose to load the hard save i did around the same time.

I'm an avid pc gamer and prefer games on the pc but i do like my xbox as well. I played fallout 3 on both pc and xbox ran great for a while then a few updates which i might add were quick and didnt take 2 weeks an no comments from admins, when i heard fallout new vegas was coming I pre-ordered from the day i could, i couldn't wait for this game but i only got 2 days playtime out of it. but on the bright side everyone complaining how buggy it is buy a game on the PC called S.T.A.L.K.E.R anyone who has already played it will agree that F:NV is allot less buggy and temperamental. all in all I now have an extra coaster for when I'm playing fallout 3

For me this bug hit me right as I finished up everything in Novac. I was heading out towards camp Forlorn Hope to help out the Legion when I saved to go have some dinner. When I came back and loaded I got the screen which is probably all too familiar to all of us. I was frustrated but wanted to play so I went back to a save that would work which landed me in the basemant dealing with those Nightkins. Easy enough to get through and I remembered to save often. Unfortunately this did not help me in the end. Every save I would create ended up being bunk. Then the bug seemed to reach back past that basemant and into the dumb motel lobby when I first got to the town. Long story short I am going to play some Halo until Bethesda sorts this out.

This bug first occured to me after killing motor-runner in vault 3, losing me 2 hrs of gametime. Now it happed a second time, this time after doing the quest in vault 34 and upon saving after exiting, the save file got corrupted. This time i lost 9 [censored] hours of gametime.

yea 30 plus hours for me Im actually gonna sell this and put it towards black ops because it doesnt matter if I start a new game or not because I still get the DLC error and frozen load screens I should have to wait to play a game that has been out and I bought a while ago so like I said Im going to trade it in towards Black Ops and then get it again when it rops in price and hopefully has been fixed

well i played again, went through vault three again, this time i left boone and rex in the hall before entering the maintenance wing. i actually spoke with motor-runner this time (boone killed him the last two times before i got to him) and everything seems OK. i finished the BoS missions i was manually saving every ten minutes or so and reloading those games right after. no problem. we'll se what it's like tomorrow.
