How much DLC will they do?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 7:32 am

Not sure I agree. Oblivion had 2 and some other minor DLC including the infamous Horse Armor. Fallout 3 had 5, but a few were not that large and quite linear.

One or two expansion size ones with additional minor DLC is the norm in my opinion. Perhaps though Skyrim will be different. Although I imagine in a year or so they will be done and release a final GOTY edition.

Bethesda did not only make Oblivion my friend. Fallout 3 and New Vegas prove my point quite valid

Edit: How is Oblivion even comparable? Sure it is the same series but bethesda even stated they were attempting to go off Fallout's example...Besides New Vegas and Fallout 3 are newer than oblivion....Oblivion came out in 2008

Of course, someone will always want more.

No such thing as 'too much' when it comes to my favourite games. ;)

Hey

I'm hoping for more than two. I have always liked Bethesda's DLC with maybe 2-4 minor DLC. Although if they bring out the content that adds forts like they did in Oblivion I hope they make it more interesting.

If you read the Skyrim Wiki it says that Castle Volkihar is North of Northwatch Keep in the sea and Fort Dawnguard hidden in the southern reaches of Southern Skyrim possibly in the Rift. So it will be somewhere where we could not reach or see in vanilla Skyrim.

im thinking 3 big ones. Probably will continue to release small free features too. They're smart, and they know that they have millions of fans waiting on the edge of their seats for more Elder Scrolls content.

Hoping for around 4. With the 2 after Dawnguard medium sized and a nice SI sized one to finish off.

Well one of the things they said about the length of the game, and I believe this was in the gameinformer article, that Dawnguard will be be as big as length wise between Knights of the Nine and The Shivering Isles. That to me is pretty substantial for their first DLC and excites me as well. I do hope in one of their expansions they address the magic system a bit more, add spell creation and some more quests for either the Mages Guild or something with the Psijic Order. After that they may do some horse armor as a free update, perhaps even implement the high texture pack for the consoles and I'd be interested to see how it is going in terms of putting mods on the consoles, although I doubt that will happen from the sounds of it, at least with the current consoles.

That would be preferable, although I'm not sure how they would pull it off. I'm sure they want they're whole team on the next Elder Scrolls game so that they make it an effective product. I see the DLC ending for Skyrim sometime next year, perhaps in the Fall if they do big ones like these.

indeed. Do we have any news on how much extra land mass will be avaliable in Dawnguard? We'll need new land to stretch our legs for the expansion of course, how much do you think there will be? I'd say they'd have to put in at least as much as there is in Falkreath or Markarth hold to keep things from being too tight.
At leats 2 big landmasses! cant remember exact quote but I heard a dev say that recently in interview

2 landmasses? what does qualify as a landmass In Skyrim?

That sounds good,a landmass seems pretty large.

Microsoft is getting the first two add ons a month in advance. Todd Howard said maybe two or three expansions, something along the lines if Shivering Isle and Point Lookout I am thinking at least three in between the sizes of those two expansions and maybe a forth, and then possibly a few small things if any.

Point Lookout was ok nowhere near the Shivering Isles, the rest was pathetic content wise.

Operation Anchorage took a while to complete. Nothing like 10 hours, but it was well worth paying for.
The Pitt I did not purchase
Broken Steel was huge, it also opened up a lot of things including level cap rising
Point Lookout was more for aesthetics I believe, I did not purchase it
Mothership Zeta was rather nice. I enjoyed playing it through once, however I was not EXTREMELY pleased with it.

One to fix the miserably neutered magic system (Heartfire rumored to address this... Spell Creation and On-Touch back please dammit >_<)

I'm hoping this is true, the magic system as is is almost unplayable for me.

None of them were more then 10 hours?

If that's so you can't compare them to Dawnguard.

The mainquest alone is said to be 10-20 hours.

I don't think you can use Fallout to gage how many TES DlCs there will be.
