How much DLC will they do?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 7:45 am

There coming out with Dawnguard In a week (for Xbox), and now I'm hearing this stuff about Heartfire.

How many of these do you think they plan on doing?

The only clue we have is the deal with Microsoft is 30 days exclusivity for the first two expansions.

I am thinking atleast four majors ones, they did that many for fallout 3 so Skyrim should atleast have that many.

Wow that's allot.

Oblivion only had 2 main addons the rest were junk.

And if there all expansion size this is going to be good.

Oblivion had two, but the Shivering Isles was massive, Point Lookout has been quoted as an indicator to the amount of content. If so, four of those plus the main game would add up to quite the package. Of course, someone will always want more.
Anyway, BGS have given us small amounts of extra gameplay features along with the fix patches, for free; almost unheard of in these days of code-locked on disc content. Imo, this bodes well for both the content and quality of the paid for add ons.

If they stick to past form, probably two major DLCs and some minor ones to go along with them.

indeed.

Do we have any news on how much extra land mass will be avaliable in Dawnguard?

We'll need new land to stretch our legs for the expansion of course, how much do you think there will be?

I'd say they'd have to put in at least as much as there is in Falkreath or Markarth hold to keep things from being too tight.

I'm thinking 3 or 4 maybe. Considering how large the DLCs for F:NV were.

Not sure I agree. Oblivion had 2 and some other minor DLC including the infamous Horse Armor. Fallout 3 had 5, but a few were not that large and quite linear.

One or two expansion size ones with additional minor DLC is the norm in my opinion. Perhaps though Skyrim will be different. Although I imagine in a year or so they will be done and release a final GOTY edition.

And for this they should be applauded, even if they are only small things. If it were certain other compaines that shall remain unmentioned (you know who you are :stare: ) they would try palming it off as something you'd have to pay for.

Epic bow cams $4.99 or some [censored]

Well they have to do at least 2 because that is the agreement they have with MS and the way it was worded as in "the first 2 will be xbox exclusive for 30 days" makes it sound as if there will be at least one more after that deal has ended, otherwise they would have said..... the 2 expansions will be xbox exclusive for 30 days.

Or am I reading too much into it

you'll have to measure the land mass in dungeons, the game itself is played within the already explored Skyrim, of course, there is Soul Cairn, but i don't expect it to be much larger than black reach.

Like Horse Armor? Glad they have released a few free goodies this time. But let us not pretend that they have not charged for some lame things as well in the past.

No I think based on the data it's safe to asume more then two.

Remember these are big company's, there not going to leave room for law suites in the contracts

Already explored Skyrim? as in no new areas to explore? no new roads to walk on?

That stinks.

So where are the castles? does Bethesda just put them in already explored territory and pretend like the forts existed in the vanilla game?

They should have a new area to explore at least the size of Falkreath hold.

They going all Knights of Nine on us with this DLC?

best way to get an idea of it is to look at what they did with fallout 3, but looking at how amazingly successful skyrim was, i can imagine them harching new expansions/DLC's all the way until the next game in the series.

I will not pretend Beth have not made mistakes with previous dlc such as horse armour but this time round with their dlc approach they seem to have learnt not to take the piss out of their fans like they may have done in the past whether they intended to or not and in fact have done various things to try and reward their fans. The high res texture pack for PC, the new kill cams, horse combat etc. I think companies like EA would be less charitable with their content than what Beth have shown.

I'm expecting 3 DLCs.

One for fanservice (Dawnguard)

One to fix the miserably neutered magic system (Heartfire rumored to address this... Spell Creation and On-Touch back please dammit >_<)

One to "close out" this part of the Elder Scrolls storyline.

Annnnnd a few years after that third, we'll be awaiting Elder Scrolls VI: Mer

the dawnguard castle is probably located in the bordering mountain south of Riften, so there might be a bit more land to explore there. imagine knights of the nine, just bigger

I'm fine with Skyrim expansion being "on the border"

As long as parts of the Skyrim border are unlocked, thereby giving me (and you) more land to explore.

I wouldn't want this to be a simple quest plug-in.
