How often does this game freeze on you?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 6:49 am

I've played about 100 hours now, and I've probably had about three or four crashes. Maybe 6-10 noticeable glitches as well. I actually do not understand what people are complaining about. I've had more glitches and crashes in CoD and Halo.

Freezes 1-4 times each time I play, usually every hour or so, generally either during loading screens, entering VATS with multiple enemies, or running through wide-open areas after the video has already started to get choppy. Playing on 360, installed to hard drive. (Edit to add: This is after about 45-50 hours of gameplay, but the freezing didn't really become that frequent until about 30 hours in.)

My game (PC) pauses for up to 45 seconds from time to time but it always comes back if I wait and don't mess with Alt+Tab or Ctrl+Alt+Del.

If I averaged it out it would be once every other game I'd say. I'm just glad it comes back and there is no need to reload.

124 hours of Gameplay, 5 crashes.

That is a 1000% improvement for me over Fallout3 stability.

Two CTDs and two freezes so far - I will try waiting if I get another freeze instead of being impatient. :)

None were a problem as I learned a long time ago to make regular saves.

I've noticed that If you have an effect on your screen (say, the withdrawal symptom) and I hit the quicksave button, I have had a couple of freezes when that happens...It's only the game that freezes and not my entire system though, which is kind of weird, but I would rather have it that way anyway. :fallout:

A few times. But there is no rhyme or reason to it
(These are estimates).
0-25 hours, 2 or so freezes.
25-27: 5 freezes. 3 almost back to back.
27- 45: 1 freeze.

Edit: pc version.

About two CTDs in roughly 40 hours of gameplay. I'm satisfied.

Only played two sessions so far, and both times two freezes. Both sessions were about 5 hours and the freeze came about 1 hour in. If it stays at this rate then I'll be happy. I never had freezes this far into F3, though. Am on PS3.

Playing on PS3. Froze within the first hour or so of game play, requiring a hard restart of the machine. Then I went quite some time without having to reboot, but in the past couple days, I've noticed it freezes up more.

Part of it may have to do with the fact that early on, I rarely, if ever holstered my rifle, which slowed me down. Now I find myself running a lot more, so I think the system freezes up, trying to catchup by loading the scenery and the background.

Once, the game froze while I was trying to enter Lt Hayes' tent in Primm (the NCR officer). Not sure if it's related, but unfortunately, a couple RL days earlier, due to some random glitching I ran across Hayes near the NCR correctional facility/Powder Ganger HQ. No idea what he was doing there, but as I was walking in the opposite direction, I heard gunfire and there was a message that popped up saying he had died. Sure enough, I found his body, but no attackers!

Finishing the game at 34 hours on PS3, 10 freezes. The freezing happens when I'm walking around, doing nothing.

I think it has to do a lot with the scenery/background. I've noticed some lag when the mountains need to be detailed, etc. But, I could be wrong about that.

No freezes yet.. maybe an occasional CTD every 10-15 hours, some minor bugs/graphical glitches here and there. Furthermore avoiding save corruption by using enough slots plus I keep my laptop clean&fresh and try to maintain it every 5 days or so: remove junk files/installations, clean register/services/startup/browsers, defrag, install latest drivers, scan malware/viruses: remove manually if necessary, etc.

every 2-4 hours. All together? IDK, I have 4 characters all above level 22, so Id say about 20-25 freezes over all.

About 10-16 freezes so far.

Pretty bad but it does not make the game unplayable..

i just had my first freeze after 55 hours or so of gameplay, i was purchaseing another combat helmet from gun runners to restore my curent one and some of my quest updates were still scrolling down the screen and i was going in and out of dialogue to fast i guess and it froze it up. not to bad for 55+/- hours of gameplay on the 360 version.
