I am happy with it. I just hope that the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Punch_dagger shows up again.

I dont care much for an exact weapon, the real question is, can we use melee weapons in vats to taget the groin? :evil:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8rNb1BAXxU&feature=related what I think of the list so far. Well I'd still like to see the Shiskebab come back. That's the one Melee weapon I couldn't do without.

It'd be hilarious if you bought the game from Japan
and when you tried to use the sword's special VATS move you just stab yourself
for you have no honor :lol:

Here is what the wikia has so far on melee

Melee

* 9-Iron
* Baseball bat
* Broad machete
* Cleaver
* Concrete club
* Machete
* Nail board
* Razor
* Scrap sword
* Sledgehammer
* Super sledge
* Throwing spear

Now this is of course from the wikia, so it may not be accurate or complete. But my thought so far is that this slate of weapons seems very "novelty" in comparison to the melee choices in FO3. What I mean is, the items are certainly a bit more realistic in that they are items that you may find laying about, but they also don't seem worthwhile as much as a nice sharp sword.

Add the switchblade and regular knife. Wiki missed them.

I loved...loooved melee weapons and unarmed in FO3 whereas they just kind of pissed me off in the first two games.

Definitely my fighting style of choice for evil playthroughs. It just makes it a whole lot personal and brutal when you cut some poor bastard's head or limbs off with a power fist or an auto axe instead of discreetly blowing them away with your pistol or rifle.

So I'm particularly giddy at the addition of new special attacks. Doesn't quite make up for the inability to target body parts in VATS but close enough.

You can target specific body parts. I don't think you can target specific limbs with the special attacks, but you can with regular ones. I'm hoping that they varied up the regular swinging and punching animations. Throwing the same two punches or just swinging your weapon back and forth looks pretty terrible. Maybe they could have it so as you increase your skill your combat animations are more varied and maybe faster. If your character doesn't really know how to fight, their attacks should be slow and imprecise. A highly skilled Melee or Unarmed character should be fighting like a ninja.

I thought you couldn't target specific body parts in vats with melee/unarmed?

Never mind. I just checked a couple sources and you can't target body parts. That kind of svcks since I'm going to do a Melee and Unarmed playthrough my second time around. It doesn't really matter too much since Melee is better in real time anyway.

I'm wondering what would be the reasoning behind not being able to target specific body parts with melee/unarmed weapons? Seems like it'd be an awesome thing to incorporate into the game and it benefits those of us who enjoy using physical weapons. (My second character is going to be using one of those Scrap Swords) :tops:

Looking forward to getting a closer look at and killing with the scrap sword aswell.

Seems like a cool fallouty idea for a blade.

I just hope they bring back the tire iron. Loved that little bastard. (sledge hammer too)

And yes I hope there are more combat made melee weapons. Would love to have a melee spear or a nice scrap morning star from Mad Max.
