How do you pronounce ED-E? : Fallout: New Vegas

In one of the promos, I heard it pronounced Eddie. In the game, I heard it pronounced E D E which means Eyebot Duraframe model E. So that's the way I say it. E D - E. And in my mind, it's a male bot um, because of his laser.

For some reason, I am inclined to pronounce it was "EDI", like in ME2. I played that game too much..

Looks like its supposed to be "Eddie" but I pronounced as "Edie" (EDI) like ME2 as well, which I had been playing right up until FNV came out.

I still do.

I call it 'Eee-Dee'. Like the the girl's name.

I also have been known to randomly throw hand grenades at it... so... I would take how I treat my eyebot friend as more of a... statement... and less of a guidine.

Same here, as most know ships, cars and tech are mostly in the feminine.

I say Eee Dee Eee. It's the 5th in a series of Eyebot Durafram units. ED-A, ED-B, and ED-C are a little to tough to say as a name like ED-E.

Yeah there is that too. But it does also stand for Eyebot-Duraframe subject E. Listen to what it says when you repair it.

Anyway I'd probably pronounce it ee-dee-ee. That's the way my brain wants to say it for some reason. I know for I fact that I'd have an easier time just calling it Eddy lol. It doesn't matter to me though. I can honestly say that I've never said it's name out loud, and I doubt I'll ever have to.

I alternate between "Ed E" and "bug". Not because he's bugged in the gameplay, but because he reminds me of a gnat buzzing around your head.

As evident by the quest its ED-E my Love its pronounced E-D-E as that is how the voice acting pronounces it.

Don't put too much stock in voice actors. In Fallout 3 most of the time they couldn't pronounce "Charon" correctly and thus totally missed the reference to the Underworld in Greek mythology. Even worse they kept calling him "Sharon" so really I don't think we should trust voice actors with character names...

The existence of the song points at "Eddy" being the most likely way to pronounce it.

The characters in game pronounce it EEE DEE EEE, but I still call it Eddy.

And every time I hear Caesar's name said "properly" I think of a German king with a handlebar mustache and pointy helmet.

The thing is...Caesar is trying to recreate something that he could not possibly have full knowledge of. Latin would not pronounce the word as "Kai-ssar" but either "Seize-er" or "Kay-ssar". The fact that they use improper pronunciation highlights the lack of proper historical record in his research. Plus where would he get enough reference material to begin with? %99 of all the book ever encountered are destroyed or burnt. %99 of the electronic storage media would have been wiped out in the EM pulses from the bombs. They even call their "Legionaries"... "Legion-Airies" which I am guessing is a giant nest for bird people because is isn't a soldier.

I do miss Sergeant RL-3 a little though. "Ready to die for your country you commie son of a b****?!" <3
ED-E just buzzes a little. His battle music is a nice touch however.

That is were it was from, before NV came out people kept saying it was a reference to EDI and when it came out it sort of stuck, I the idea of ED-E being feminine.

This. Didn't occur to me to pronounce it any other way. (Of course, I never used it as a follower, so I never heard anyone else say it's name. Tried the "take it to the scrapyard" quest once, but nothing happened, so I just dumped it back in Primm and forgot about it.)
