I didn't think their reputation was so golden to begin with.

DECEMBER 5: That The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a major work in the pantheon of games classics is unarguable. This huge, rich texture and deeply involving world wows millions of gamers. Some PS3 owners are unhappy though, as lag issues plague the game for those with large save files. Bethesda attempts to fix the problem with patches, but its golden reputation is tarnished by an ugly episode.

My personal opinions on IGN aside, so what?

Watch how all the whiners who discounted the great reviews because "the media is biased and corrupt" will none the less latch on to THAT with both hands.

Just wait, here they come....

They dont have a golden reputation. They are know for released great but buggy games. This game is pretty good with the notable exception of the PS3, where Bethesda seems to have really failed

So the majority of ppl don't have too many issues if any......yet Bethesda has a bad rep now?

I'm one of those ppl who side with the PS3 gamers that have lag issues, but ignoring the fact that there are 2 other platforms that have good outcomes is just an attention getting plan.

There's no doubt that the issues with the PS3 are embarassing for Bethesda, but it's not like they are not known for releasing high quality games, but which are riddled with all manner of bugs and glitches.

It happens. That's kind of the risk of doing things. Sometimes it might not work out. Weird that IGN would bother to post something so mundane. or is it.

It's no worse than any of their three previous PS3 releases, is it?

@Dude You crazy? Go over to the PC help forum. It's a nightmare just like the PS3 sub forum.

Bethesda's reputation is tarnished by a hardware problem. Thanks, Sony.

Complacency is a terrible thing so if it gives Beth a kick up the backside then we all profit.

Yeah, Morrowind, Oblivion, F03, and Skyrim were all pretty low quality games.

Soooo... why are you on the forum again?

Oh you mean the same IGN that said that the ps3 issues for the GAME were a CRISIS (in the middle of a worldwide economic downturn).

Yeah, forgive me if I fail to give a crap.

So, releasing an open-world game, with more content than 90% of the games that have ever been released, ON MULTIPLE PLATFORMS, with various different options, while also having a lot of bugs=Tarnished Reputation

Not to mention how Morrowind and Oblivion had bugs that were WAY worse on release.

Hopefully that'll teach them not to develop on a console platform.

Bethesda had a golden reputation? When?

Bethesda's reputation was always "a company that releases revolutionary, ground-breaking sandbox RPGs that are huge in scale and full of bugs."

Skyrim didn't tarnish anything. It lived up to, precisely, the general expectations.
