I just noticed that there are no greaves in this game

I was looking at my dwemer set, and I was wondering what was missing from it. Then it hit me that I was missing my legs. Weird thing to take out.

They merged chest and leg armors to make more armor choices and variety and prevent clipping.

Which is pretty neat.

next game we'll just have "melee" and "ranged" combat skills. And "armor" for defense

Chest and leg armor pieces have been combined. It allows more NPC's to be on screen at once. I like the change :D. A lot of people think it has to do with the game being "dumbed down" or "casualized" which I do not believe. It's only for tech reasons and to prevent clipping, which a post above me also stated.

I also like the way the armor flows now. I was never one to mix and match, I always had to have a matching set.

And then we'll have no option of armor creation, just Iron Armor, Iron banded armor, Dwarven armor etc... it will just be a costume instead of separate equippable items. And then Smithing, enchanting and Alchemy and maybe spellmaking, (even if they have those things in there next game) will be under the skill "Creation". and Magic will cover everything, it will be simplified for our next stupid generation.

There are good reasons behind the change, but I wanted to have an orc in heavy grieves and boots with nothing on his upper body. :(

Greaves were obviously too spread-sheety. They put the greaves back in lower body armor...j/k

But yeah, I want them split again.

Yes they remove and never add anything new!

Oh wait they do.

I don't understand why people just focuses on what is removed and pretend there isn't anything new.

Hide Armor is the only thing that comes close to what you want.

However, I do like this change, and I do love how a "full set" of the same armor provides bonuses.

The one thing that really got me was no underwater combat. How are you suppose to kill slaughterfish now? In fact I have a feeling that half way through the game they decided they didn't even want to have anything in the water because they were ashamed with it. And the fish were left as filler to make them seem better.

Because they're as narrow-minded as a tank.

no its just the new stuff is useless fluff. not to mention that a lot of the "new" stuff isnt really new. just repackaged with new name to look like a new feature.

seeing as how there are less npcs on screen than in oblivion or morrowind, this is an obviously wrong point. an npc doesnt visually cost much recources, its mostly their actions/AI that does. But hey, speaking out of your rearie is fun I guess, so keep doing it

like they say, theres just no pleasing everyone... its a TES game, enjoy it for what it is, and if you can't do that well then maybe you should go play something else.

Just to let you guys know, I'm not really complaining, I was just pointing this out. I'm happy with most of the things they took out, like the attributes, and blade and blunt as individual skills. It would be nice to have greaves back though. It feels like I'm exposing my genitals without it.

Because people liked the things that were in the former games and were expecting something similar considering this is a game in the exact same series. Even staples of the game like spellmaking have been removed.

Imagine a Spider-Man game where they removed web-swinging and added the ability to drive cars to compensate. There are plenty of games to play cars in, web-swinging is a special thing you expect spider-man to have, in the same way there are features you expect to see in a TES game and adding new unwanted features does not make up for removing them.

I'd sacrifice a lot from Skyrim to get back some of the stuff from Morrowind and Oblivion.

Everything being complained about has been being complained about for 10 months. Features and decisions are complained about before the game comes out. Months later they are complained about after the game comes out.

I'm going to go into threads that praise the good aspects of the game, and tell people "People have praised the game already. shut up now, it's all been heard"

/sarcasm

let people discuss what they want to discuss. leave if you want none of it. Really simple, fellas

I think people just want a Morrowind with updated graphics... I'm all for that though, long as the cliff racers are extinct...

You know... That's about it in a nutshell. At least almost, I wouldn't want to go back to the old hit/miss combat system, but just about everything else is what I'd like to see again, but with a new engine and graphics.
