LEAST Favorite Companion

Plus those clothes just look ridiculous.

Dude, what the hell are you on about? The Bible, gardening gloves/tools, overalls and sunhat are PRICELESS! I honestly did not think I was gonna bother with companions in this game until I saw that image.

I agree. I think the idea of Lily's character is awesome.

Rex, just for the fact that they couldn't leave a dog companion out of the game.
At least he's a cyborg.

Lily, but only because I am really unsure about her, I certainly hope I'll be surprised.

Same here. I'm not sure if I'll ever find her useful. I guess if I play a stealth character but otherwise, I imagine I'm going to ignore her for the most part.

If Lily bakes cookies like a grandmother should I'll be more inclined to take her along. :P

Right now I'm thinking Cass.

I just got a feeling that I'm not gonna like her.

I think this thread is horribly pre-mature, we don't even have the game yet and thus nothing to really compare by.

Lily....because she's not Marcus :banghead:

This. :sadvaultboy: :cryvaultboy: I also don't like Raul as much due to him not being former Enclave. But he will still be okay, I hate lily for replacing Marcus. :nuke: :flame: :swear:

How did she replace Marcus?? She replaced Fawkes!!! No but seriously, Lily is number one to me, she seems like the most interesting follower of all, followed by Raul. (old people always have interesting stories to tell) Plus Lily's Messed up after so much hell that she's been through. But the female humans do look boring, even if one of them looks like she's gonna be Cassidy's daughter. I voted Veronnica, I like the BOS but I don't wanna listen to a lowly scribe complain about BOS ideals and stuff.. Blah blah blah!

I'd probably have to follow all of the companion quests to to find out which one I like the least because frankly they all look good and all the companion perks look useful.

My disappointments with the companions list are as follows:

  • No Ceasar's Legion Faction follower. No hanged man/burned man?
  • Lily is interesting but weird at the same time, I would have preferred Marcus...
  • Not sure if Rex's "Spotting" perk is better than Dogmeat's "Fetch" ability. That skill came in really handy at certain times.
  • ED-E is the only robot follower? Seriously? I hope he has as much, if not more "personality" than RL-3 at least.
  • I was also hoping Victor or some other securitron was a possible follower, but I guess not... =/

Voted Arcade... he just looks like he'll get on my nerves. Until I hear the voices that's the best reason I can give.

I think Marcus was left out because his story has pretty much been told, and we are mostly aware of his past. The whole point of companions in Fallout: New Vegas is uncovering the past of your allies and (hopefully) unlocking bonuses related to that past (Advanced Power Armor, Vaquero outfit, "hidden message", etc.).

It's been nearly forty years ingame since we last saw Marcus, theres alot in that timespan that could be told about him and his journey, the people he's seen, the places he's been and the enemies he's potentially made.

Hopefully he found out what happened to Jacob.
It's one of the mysteries of the fallout world that I am the most anxious to hear about.

I've seen one screenshot of Marcus, and have heard no other official mention. Based on that limited information, I can tell you exactly what he's done in 40 years: moved to Vegas and formed Jacobstown. His story has been told, trying to relive that is never going to achieve the same heights as in Fallout 2 and would only serve as excessive fan service. They didn't include him as a companion because they clearly had other intentions for him, I trust they know the characters and game design better than I.

Didn't Jacob just get old and die? That's the impression I got from Marcus. Jacob was human afterall, and subject to the perils of aging.

Edit: Just checked the Wiki. I don't know where that bit about him just up and leaving Broken Hills came from but I don't think its accurate. I never saw anything in Fallout 2 that would suggest that.

I voted for Lily. My only reason being that I don't really use stealth in Fallout games, so for me there are other companions that offer much better perks for my play style. I would also vote for Rex as the non-humanoid companion.

Erm, Marcus tells the PC that Jacob left.

And sure, Jacob could have just gotten old and died.
But I'm sure he left on some new important quest.

I played Fallout 2 many many times and simply do not recall this. All I remember him saying is he misses that hard head or some such.

Yeah I just created a god character (using an editor with max CHA INT STR speech etc) and headed over there and talked to just about ever person and I couldn't find out anything about his current state.
Marcus hinted that he was dead but it's not 100%.
Maybe the wikia has been under some trolling.
(Which would svck because I'd like Jacob to be this awesome guy who did amazing things after leaving Broken Hills in the hands of Marcus and not just lived there until he died of old age. :( )
