But the story is intertwined into the MP experience

Clearly Brink's story is very important to you and that is great. Personally I like the gameplay better and would rather see that improved and expanded upon rather than simply padding out the story. Each to their own though. I would ask you how you would add to the story but we are not allowed spoilers in these posts. So other than more cutscenes what else would like to see or improve upon?

The game is so small and feels so dated, it's as if Splash Damage created a $15 dollar downloadable game and put it on a disk they could charge $60. I don't like being charged full price for one-third of a game.

So be constructive. What would you like to see in the game or feel it lacks?

FIX TEXTURE POPPING, thanks

A lot of people have been saying this. No doubt they will sort out all the behind the scenes stuff with time (we hope). I haven't actually had any isssues except a bit of lag at peek times but that is no different to a lot of online games. Clearly we would all like good online experience but what else would you add or change with DLC?

There are a lot of things i agree with here.

Texture popping and new levels are my main 'beef' with the game at the moment.

BUT please.. PLEASE, don't compare any stat site to CoD elite.
Elite offers you just a little less than what 'Halo Waypoint' or even the 'BF hardcoe' (or what ever it is) offers.
but you must PAY for the CoD service. Yes people, read the fine print.

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/05/call-of-duty-elite-is-an-paid-online-subscription-service/

So please don't ask Beth (bethesda) to make us pay for something that should be ours in the first place.

Dear All;
I very much enjoy the Brink Game and though I am usually a PC Gamer I am FINALLY enjoying playing on the PS3
BUT

It would be a massive improvement if SB and Bethesda could fix the following:-

1. The Lack of Lobbies - I live in Asia and have not once had the system automatically pair me up with a human player.
If it was not for "dotdoxxdot" Informal Lobby System I would have given up on this game and sold it.
It is impossible to find other players or teams playing, and SB et al MUST fix this issue before anything else.
I know I am not the only person with this issue.
I understand that SD were trying something new, it has not worked and so they need to patch in a lobby ASAP

2. LAG Time - This may be just an issue of my location but the lag on the game is sometimes so bad that the game is unplayable

Otherwise Yes I would like some additional content, maps, abilities and guns BUT FIRST A LOBBY SYSTEM PLEASE

No one is suggesting we pay for a stats site but in a time when most games offer in-game stats and leadersboards expecting players to go online just to see how often they use a certain gun or have been a certain class seems a bit cheap. Games like Perfect Dark back in the 90's offered more player feedback than Brink does. If we have to go online then offer features which make it worth while like maps, walk throughs, community challenges, weapon mod advice. Basically grow it as a social hub for the game rather than telling me a I play most a medic. Am I really going to check regularly with the site for that info alone?

As a side note COD Elite does offer a free service in addition to the paid one but we are not here to talk about COD. Look at other free social services like Rock stars online stats sites and Uplay by Ubisoft. They engage with the players, offer advice, community challenges, video and load s of other great social stuff based around the games the fans love. If you are going to have a stats site then that is what you need rather than just telling me I won my last three games and played as a medic. I know that already I played the game. I was there. What is point?

I live in the UK and have not had any connection or lag issues except when they have been the fault of my connection such as a drain on the line from other people in house using it. Likewise I haven't found any problems playing against other humans so it might just be where you live. I would agree a lobby system might be the way forward though. I have played a number of games where it is just one or two human players in the team which while it jumps you into the game faster seems kind of pointless. You play online because you want to play with other people not with a load of bots. As I mentioned in my openning post the freeplay options are somewhat limited. There are what four options I think to choose from unless you want to play a private game. They really need to open it up. Let us choose the max and min numbers of players in a team. Some people might be happy playing with a handful of bots which is fine they could select a min of 1 human player per team but if I want a min of 6 and I am willing to wait for the system to find that many then I should have that choice.

With the introduction of clans to the stats site I would imagine we will see some big updates to the freeplay options. It certainly needs it.

This only effects some people but I still think it should be added in. But more variety of pick able resolutions (larger ones). I have an eyefinity setup and the only way to get it to work properly is to go to the config file and change some stuff around, and even then, the hud is on the 2 outside monitors when it should be placed in the middle. And on the menus, the mouse speed on the x-axis is way too fast compared to the y-axis speed while doing eyefinity.

I also think they should add much more appearance options, I honestly don't feel that "unique" as they say you can be. (Even with everything unlocked). Customization is something I love to mess around with on games.

And pretty much the other stuff that should be fixed have already been discussed earlier in the thread.

I enjoy this game and I know it can be much better if SD keep putting more work into into it. I don't want to see the community of it die down any faster than it already is. So I really hope they put a lot effort into making this game better and better as time goes on.

I am in Asia, so that may be the problem, BUT a lobby system to play with others in Asia or in my exact location would fix a lot of the issues.
Hopefully there internet speed and mine would be similar, and it would be easier to find people to play with

I agree with "eys" that SD need to put some work in to imporove the system in general and expand the whole package or I think there is a fair chance that the community will die or move on.

Actually, Id argue that Brink is very story driven. Most people don't like the story because it makes your character seem like just another solider, whereas most games make the pc the star of the show. I enjoy that fact immensely. It adds to the whole "team-work" motif that SD was going for. Both sides of the conflict have different intel on the situation. CC for example, one side says its a cure and the other says its a bio-weapon. I think that people dismiss the story too easily, it give you context for each battle, something that I don't know if any other game has ever done.

I agree, one of the main reasons i became interested in Brink is how it gives multiplayer matches context, and how your team (as well as the enemy) is actually working towards a goal within a story.

I don't agree. Brink was always designed to be a multiplayer game from the ground up. The solo game is kind of tagged on. The fact you gain more XP for playing online says it all. Nearly all DLC which come to the market expands the multiplayer not the single play. It is cheaper and easier to do. It is not about cash grabbing but what is practical. Writing a new story line, getting actors in to VO work, rendering the cutscenes and alike all takes time and memory space. You have to remember that some Xbox owners only have 4GB memory to start with. Expanding the multiplayer makes money. People want to play online with their friends and if your friends are all playing Brink then you will go out and buy a copy. It keeps the sales rolling. If you are just playing solo offline for the story then that does not generate sales. I have no doubt that any Brink DLC will feature cutscenes but I am saying that people buy games to play them not to watch cutscenes. That is why we watch movies. What I am saying is that they should concentrate on bringing new features, levels and gameplay elements to the game rather than a load of extra cutscenes. You don't play the level and wish there was more cutscenes. In fact most people I know will watch the cutscene first time around and hit skip to jump into the action as soon as possible there after. We are gamers after all not watchers. It is the gamerplay that makes the game not the cutscenes. Have them by all means they are great but not at the expense of gameplay.

Would you fork out for a game with 10% gameplay and 90% cutscenes? Probably not. The same goes for DLC. It should add to the gameplay experience first and worry about the cutscenes and story second. But that is just my view.

Anyone else want to dive in with an opinion on this one?

Brink was designed from the start to blur the lines between single player, co-op, and multiplayer. It is essentially one "campaign" that can be played three different ways. In my opinion the single player and co-op aspects were not executed well but it's a start. Yes, the game focuses mainly on multiplayer, but it's a multiplayer in a "campaign" format. It's meant to have a story, characters, cutscenes etc. in order to give all the multiplayer madness some context so that its not just a bunch of dudes shooting each other over and over again with no purpose. Whether it's an interesting story is relative, but that what I feel Splash Damage set out to do with this game, evolve the multiplayer shooter.

- I'd like some real team balance. Often I'm put in a match where I'm the only human player on my team and the other team has 8 human players. What gives?

- More maps of course

- The ability to change scars/tattoos. Is it realistic? No, but who cares. It would be even better if we could change the archetype and voice.

- Fix some bugs like the voice and appearance bug.

Either the SMG's are too powerfull or the heavy weapons are too underpowered. Increase accuracy/max ammo count on LMG/minigun, increase damage on semi auto shotgun to match the mossignton, and get rid of drum magazines for SMG's.

after that the game needs lobbies.

after that the game needs a huge load of DLC maps

IDK about you guys but now that the stats site is up I feel more compelled to play better and help the team more. Not just because I'm a try-hard but because being a good teammate means more EXP. On top of that is the unsaid stat of Reputation from the community if you're a good medic engineer soldier or operative if people say good stuff about you, you get the idea.

The only real constructive thing I can suggest is that they actually fix the problems with the game. At the very least acknowledge that there are problems. This is all starting to remind me of STALKER. We waited months for them to fix the game with no response from the developer, and then they announce "good news! the sequel is for sale now!" I'm plenty happy for the free DLC, but it bothers me that its all "new maps, new abilities, shiny things!" without any "oh yeah and we'll fix the broken stuff too." I have the sinking feeling that in a few weeks we'll be complaining about the same stuff, just in new hats.

I agree with Trizz here.

It would take very little to shut up the majority of people begging for fixes.

Sure we want different game types, better stat tracking, and multiplayer lobbies. But most importantly, at least address what you plan on doing about the broken portions of the game instead of waving a carrot on a stick in front of us to chase until we trip over the sequel.

I really don't want this to be an 80$ lesson for me. I'd love to be able to repurchase Brink and enjoy it the way I was told I was going to for years.
