Yep. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEX-d0yuxGk was pretty much my ending.

Besides Fallout 2 and ME2(inb4 not RPG), I really can't name one off the top of my head, let alone ten. I'd be really interesting in knowing ten RPGs that don't end too.

Edit: Not counting Bethesda games of course.

Fallout 3 (A Failed Attempt of Fallout.)
Oblivion (I dont know because I never play Fantasty Games, Except DA.)
Um, Thats it. Also MMO's are NOT RPGS. They are games that people play to look cool, And the game makers JUST slap RPG on there too make it look otherwise.

Its still better than FO3.

Really? you were blown away by the linear story that involved you sacrificing your life ( or not) to activate the purifier, and apparently you are a coward for sending your super mutant companion into the purifier even though fawkes cant die? The ending was not only poorly designed in many aspects the only real things that would change with the ending was:

1. Who activates it.
2. Karma
3. Serve Eden.

That's really it, and the game holds your hand down one quest line. Broken steel took an ending that i was at least fine with and turned it into another BoS follow along kill enclave dudes quest-line. Despite Eastern BoS being quite reasonable they are really no more than savages with scavenged equipment in weaponry hell if you made your own laser rifle out of scrap parts and the Brotherhood caught you they would most likely confiscate it (Aka thief it). I'd be content to wipe them out and help the Enclave, but the game couldnt have multiple choice, oh no. Although you can wipe out both factions at the end of BoS.

While I don't mean to boast Bethesda as heros of the gaming world. I don't think anyone else would have done better.

-Imagines 'Fallout 3:An EA Games product'-
-Kills self-

Troika maybe. Might have saved them from closing.

Imagine my surprise, then, when New Vegas came out and I hadn't even leveled to the lame low level cap when suddenly, all the sudden, THE GAME ENDS!!!!!!

Are... you... kidding... me?

Absolutely, playing through the game, knowing you will get a definite cut-off ending with canned explanations of what happens is just lame. (and really surprising)

Bethesda made their game infinitely better when finally allowing you to simply exist in the world after the main quest (not to forget the Broken Steel awesomeness), and it makes playing through the content so much more satisfying.
Of course FO3's original ending was worse, but equally disappointing imo, and ruins re-play value in a big way.

I played through FO3 3 times, I've played FoNV once and although it was awesome, I'm not rushing to do it again, because the handling of the ending is depressing.
Also I cannot see myself playing the DLCs, I just don't care, the game ends, I have to re-wind to do them, that's not as fun as having my character in the present, existing world, and being able to do them.

Broken steel was broken on release, the project impurity's ending is non-existant (you allow raven rock to survive, you put the modified FEV virus into project purity, and your little tale continues as if your personal choices never happened) I'd rather not have this again, and i hope if the DLC team decides to make another Broken Steel-esque DLC that it would be expansion sized for 29,99 USD, that way they can actually work it into all the endings and possible choices ( I miss expansions).

Level Cap = Good, do you need a character with skill of 100 in all areas. You can't be a sneaky sniper and a brute power armor explosives and energy weps expent at the same time.

Ending game = Bad, let me see the world I made.

Four endings, many variables, you cannot see the world that you made without waiting for another game.

I disagree, of course. :P Even though a Fallout game made by Troika wouldn't likely have been as commercially succesful (a merit which really does nothing to the gamer) it would've definitely been better game both as a Fallout game and as an RPG.

Though I do agree about the EA part.

The question is, will FO4 satisfy me and in time, or will a new game developer (or existing competitor to Bethdesa) come along and take my £30 or £40 before FO4 can be released?

I seriously believe that the large majority of hardcoe gamers will manage to find the money to buy both games -- provided both games are at least "pretty good". About the ONLY time that the gamers decide "I can buy A or I can buy B, but I can not buy both" is when both games are released at approximately the same time. [And I'm fairly certain that the manufacturers view the market Demand the same way I do.]

Me too, 2 minute is barely the beginning.

And there is actually a few quest which your reputation will contribute

Bethesda save the series, no doubt, but the result is almost unrecognizable when you start digging deeper.....

And I don't mind 4 post 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam DLCs........as long as it isn't the "Revenge of Enclave" or "Return of the Chosen One".

Bull. Maybe on the PC or PS3. I can't vouch for those systems, but I owned Fallout 3 since it was released, and I only ever locked up twice. I played multiple characters to level 30.

I have owned New Vegas for 34.5 hours. I've locked up 13 times, and my character is only level 5. I have avoided ALL quests and I am just trying to explore the wasteland. Things like enemies shooting at me, or walking through a doorway lock my system up. The game really is, unplayable. Fallout 3 had no such problems to this terrible degree for me.

And the same can be said for someone else. I have experienced no bugs on nv or fo3, just because YOU experience bugs does not mean everone else does.

Here's a question for ya.

How is a DLC going to work with a ending?

Will it be the same as fallout 3 ending ?

Save just before the ending and then you will be able to continue if you buy the DLC, Then you have another ending rinse repeat for the next DLC if any.

Or

players are forced to create a new character for DLC, hmmm wait that won't be a DLC thats a completely new game.

I'm sure if anyone is forced to recreate a character for the DLC. I doubt they will buy it. If they can't use their current character at the level they are and continue advancing said character they most likely won't buy the DLC.

Now no one can predict what is going to happen and what players will do. We all know people have said I won't do this if that happens. Bethesda is in charge of the DLC's. I really don't envy them on creating a DLC that doesn't completely ruin the games ending that has been chosen.

I always remake a character when I download new content because sometimes things are added to the beginning. If someone only makes one character then they aren't really fallout people since it is an rpg and is made to be played multiple times.

The information is indeed out there, and was well before release. But it seems utterly irrelevant, as clearly shown by the number of threads created (ongoing...watch, there's sure to be a new one soon) that don't ask "will there be a DLC that removes the finale," not "Is there any chance of them raising the level cap," but "When will the DLC that removes the ending and raises the level cap come out?"

I'm not sure what it is, or where it came from, but it's out there- this bizarre belief that there is One True Way to make any type of game, and anything else is some obstinate company trying to shaft people by daring to think the developers should have any say in how the game is made.

And I don't mean as in One True Way to make a proper RPG, and One True Way to make a shoooter, etc.- I mean these days, any game that doesn't follow "THE One True Game Formula For All Games, Regardless Of Genre" is vilified by the http://redwing.hutman.net/~mreed/warriorshtm/howlers.htm who...well, apparently can't stand the idea of any variation from the bland vanilla universal game style that all games must follow else be shunned.

Why did you put that link on there? I'm stuck on that site now and I won't be able to move on until I read all the definitions!

I love borderlands but it is a linear game, the ending for everyone is the same. If fnv did that there could be over a hundred different endings dependng on which quests people did and how they ended them. It's not obsidians failed implementation. It worked for fo3 because the main quest was linear and the side quests didn't matter.

But a line is better than FO3! Owens said I was a knight in the BOS...but nobody said I was!

There needs to be some sort of cap so that you do not become a god character. It think that the ideal system would be this:

1. You get exp 50% slower.
2. The level cap is at 99.
3. Skill caps are now at 400

Totally disagree with your statements.

You should be able to keep going with no CAP!!! Experience should count for something.

Plus, you've been harking on this thread multiple times about no GOD character. Why not? It's Single Player!!!

What?!?!? I make only one character and I am a hardcoe Fallout Fan! I can never finish a new character, I start if off, but then I realise how boring it will be to make a new char.
