When we acknowledge good writing? Yeah, shouldn't do that on a Beth forum. :shifty:

I can't say I would watch it, I tend not to like the smart ass cartoons with rudimentary animation that plague the screens now. Lik Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob etc. I hate that [censored]! But I can't claim any masculine moral highground, I think the Katamari series is awesome.

I just wish we could have more of the very detailed and 3 dimensional animation we had back when I was watching TV more often. It seems like if has degraded over time, after quite a few years where the overall quality improved.

Like this one, the artwork is so much better:

Nope. 19 year old straight male here: I looked forward to a song sung by magical ponies for *weeks*, and was not dissapointed! If that's wrong, I sure as hay don't want to be right.

@Turns-The-Page; This is exactly what this is - a modern cartoon with the quality they *used* to have, both in writing and animation.

It sure doesn't look like it from what I've seen. I liek the stylized opening clouds, but the rest irritates my eyes.

:P I still think The Silver Brumby was the best western cartoon series I've seen.

The yellow horse I had in RDR always reminded me of Thowra. Until it was mauled by a cougar in the final mission.

Guys, look, I found a thread about videogames on a My Little Pony Forum:

The opening storybook sequence is in an entirely different style to the show - it's intentionally un-animated, it's from a book.

I know, I watched some of the rest of it, I just don't really like the style. I'm not trying to turn people against it for any reason of feigned maturity, it's just not to my taste. But then I don't think I've ever really liked many American cartoons. Perhaps it comes from growing up in a time when the only childrens stuff the BBC used to import was from Australia.

EDIT: I've now watched it with my headphones in, and I can't actually understand what they are saying. It is supposed to be in English, right? From what I could understand, the writing seems a bit better than normal, but It's still not something I would willingly watch.

Your speakers must be awful :P

I'm not really one to argue opinions - it's totally valid to not like it, but if you are interested in it you should give it to episode 4 or 5, most people agree the pilot episodes are a bit weak.

I'm trying to get myself through the first episode, replacing all the cutesy names with something else thats less cute and envisioning them as people instead of ponies. Basically a decent story if you can get over the kiddy names and stuff and it becomes another apocalypse countdown. All the while Twilight Sparkle has to work better at her relatonships.

But I'll counteract this all with a Mcgyver marathon and some listening to Judas Priest. Then I'm going to watch Myth Busters.

OK, you win ass holes.

I watched episode 4, it seems the quality does get much better with perspective and detail and stuff. And the voices tone down a bit.

It's still not as good as The Silver Brumby! :stare:

It's impossible to resist!

I'd reccomend keeping going, my favourite episodes are 11, 14-16, 23, and 25. Get going. There will be a test.
