My Little Pony

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:05 pm

Very odd as it might seem I have grown to like the series considerably over the past week. Despite however being rather skeptical to watch in the first place because it didn't exactly appeal to my interests as I'm sure you can imagine. However after hearing plenty of good things about it decided to try it out. It was surprising very good with better writing then you will see with most cartoons anymore with nicely done characters and had a oddly additive charm to it. Its actually rather adorable without becoming nauseating, genuinely enjoyable, humor that isn't just for little girls, and while the central plot for many episodes have been used plenty of times in children shows (which is not necessarily a bad thing depending on the theme) does this without turning into a mindnumbing cliche.

Which to say that is there anyone else that enjoys the series and thoughts/discussion on the show itself (be it good or bad).

Watching the pilot now. Will post my thoughts over the next 45 minutes.

UPDATE: Pre-credit exposition is like a jRPG plot. Was somewhat lost. Oh well. Theme-tune now stuck in my head. :sadvaultboy:

Was wondering how Twilight Sparkle could turn pages with her hooves, but her horn is magic and can manipulate stuff.

Wait, is she a pony or a unicorn?

That video was pure awesome. I would totally play a My Little Pony open world RPG made by Bethesda.

I had no idea there was a My Little Pony show (no longer get cable), and I can't say the premise appeals to me... But I might watch the pilot also, just because.

[censored] yeah my little pony. Much as I doubted I'd be saying this 6 months ago: This has quickly become my favourite modern cartoon, by far.

For the undecided: For the love of Celestia, don't judge it based on the older generations. This one is built to appeal to the parents of 12 year olds, not just 12 year olds. It's actually a legitimately good show!

Indeed. One that's also caused a massive rift in the userbase of that one place.

Loved it before it became so trendy, following Lauren Faust and such... I'm bloody glad I'm not a hipster and obliged to hate it now. :shifty:
Aaaanyway. I never thought that MLP would come back into focus, twenty years after it annoyed me for the first time. And that it finally could be good. Imagine that.
The Bronies have arrived.

Can I still be a Brony, without Y chromosome? Does the dyke thingie help? :whistling:

Is this for real!?

I've been seeing people gush over it for months now. It's quite real, and has a very substantial following at this point.

I haven't watched it myself, but I will say that both the name and events surrounding Derpy Hooves (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=422909) amuse me greatly.

The pilot itself is a bit lackluster mainly introducing the characters. The series does however get a lot better after ep. 3 and would start on episode 4 and see if you like it from there.
