Lycan Castle

I thought that was a side effect of not turning as often?
Yes but it shows that the beast has atleast some control over them and their actions. They had only stopped recently perhaps if they continued not to appease the beast it would force its way out.

We should try to stay on castles though.

Aela and Vilkas have their sane minds when they're wolves. The main character does, too. And it's implied that Skjor did as well, as Aela says he was the strongest of them.

It has been this case ever since Daggerfall. The disease twists the individual's mind and conjoins their instincts with that of a beast. They always live with their inner Beast or Spirit of the Wolf which dictates their train of thought. Farkas is always clouded by the thoughts of the hunt. Sinding lost his marbles when he tore a young girl to shreds. This doesn't count the NPC's we face in Daggerfall and the insane lunatics in human form in Bloodmoon.

In gameplay, those things do not matter though.

I agree with you on all points, but Lycanthropy is a curse and a disease. It can be passed on people through a bite, scratch, ingestion of blood and even at birth. Yet it is a supernatural disease and to some it can count as a curse or a blessing. Not to get into a philosophical debate on fiction, but it depends on the afflicted's point of view on whether or not Lycanthropy is a curse or a blessing. Story and lorewise, it can be one or the other. As mentioned, Lycanthropy can be a curse for most, a blessing for some and a way of life for a few. Gameplaywise it is the same deal. Some may hate the drawbacks, some may enjoy the benefits and some simply do not care one way or the other. But in Skyrim, it feels like there are more benefits than anything else. Unbalanced and just plain boring.
This is exactly what I meant and why I brought up the Companions. Aela was proud to be werewolf, Kodlak - not so much in the end.
A disease created by a god is still a disease. It's infectious, you usually don't choose to receive it, you have to learn to live with it. In Skyrim you don't have to deal with any drawbacks, there's no obstacle to overcome, so lycanthropy feels... bland.

Sinding lost his marbles when he tore a young girl to shreds.
Well, that was caused by a cursed ring and doesn't reflect Sinding's normal behaviour, so I'm not sure if it's a good example. It does show that the wolf is always in him, though.

Alright, I'm not writing another off-topic word.

I don't see why there should be any werewolf castle. Wolves don't live in castles, do they? No reason why werewolves should. However, I'd love it if Dawnguard introduced wild werewolves - that's something I severely missed in Skyrim. If it does, then it's possible that those outlaw lycanthropes decided to form a band and live in a cave somewhere far from civilization.
Still, I think the only new werewolf content will be the perk tree. Dawnguard is all about vampires, after all.

Part of the "Great power" granted by the Glenmoril Witches. Vilkas still feels "The call of the Blood". Then again, it depends greatly on willpower also.

If that was the case then Kodlak would've been struggling much more then he let on.

Blargh blargh blargh wrackle frackle.....I think a Lycan (or lycanthrope for you tryhards) castle would be pretty fun to explore, if it was something like a rival werewolf clan is trying to take you out and you need to defend yourself thing or take over their castle, that could be a very fun quest lol

That's specifically why I mentioned Nord blood in my first post. Nords are notoriously stubborn and hard headed.

"Why should I let this thing rule me? I'm a son of the north, descendant of Ysgramor's five hundred. It was my blood that conquered Tamriel to forge the Empire. This beast curse won't rule me. I'll rule it."

1- kodlak did seem to die rather easily from a silver blood raid. Possible it has to do with him trying to maintain control and fight at the sametime. He was also the most inactive of the group. Now this could be because of his age but we've seen old men who seem to do pretty well for themselves in a fight.

2- I like an idea like that. Not all werewolves would be as moral as the companions and what better than to destroy the guys giving you a bad name.

*Werebears. Same applies for them, except to an even more strict degree. Werebears are extremely rare, so much that both ingame books written on them have mentioned this, as well as no appearance of them ingame. Hell, the only werebears encountered in lore was in Hircine's Hunting Grounds, not even in Tamriel. Werebears would be solititary more than werewolves would be, just as real bears.
That contradicts the whole "The werebear is the most common lycanthrope in Skyrim" in the book On Lycanthropy.

I loved sun damage in Oblivion.

Samers. Vampirism is so boring when you can just stroll out into the sun care-free.

Yep, the ring enabled him to transform without warning. He wasn't sure if the Ring prevented his transformations earlier on. It was possible that after he stole the ring, Hircine cursed it right away. But Sinding also said he could feel the animal inside him as strong as ever.

But some people might want Savior's Hide, and some people might want a different ring like Namiras

actually the game glitches during this quest allowing you to have both if you choose the ring all you have to do is go back and kill the werewolf and he reappears and gives you saviors hide

A glitch is not a replacement for a mechanic in-game
