Mathew Perry

I hated friends... But not Mathew Perry. Personally i'm so/so about him, it's probably because he is a fan of fallout 3.

I thought Matthew Perry did a great job. I thought he did fine on friends too. Oh well anyways I just wanted to be able to work with Benny to take over Vegas. Unfortunately this isn't one of the options for the endgame.

Spoiler
Too bad if you try to work with him he betrays you again. WTF after that speech he gave I was ready to help him take over Vegas, he just seems like a cool cat to work for. Guess it was a huge mistake on his part...oh well at least I got a fancy suit and a nice gun out of it.

In my opinion, he was good in this game but not great. He did a good enough job for me to get a proper understanding of the character he was playing, but I just thought that he really sounded as though he was reading from a script. Which is never a good thing. It's certainly not a major problem in a video game though.

This

My whole disappointment with Perry's performance on this project can be summed up in one word. Hey. Let's keep it in the groove, hey. The delivery seemed so forced and unnatural to me. I know, it's only one line, one word really, and I understand that it's up to the actor to interpret their character how they see fit for their own reasons. It still bothers me though, and sadly, being that it is one of the first lines he delivers to the PC, this disappointment tends to cling to the rest of his performance, which was admirable. I know it's silly to condemn an entire effort based on one minor failure, but it was so immersion breaking for me that I never had any trouble executing him, pretty much on the spot.

However, I wouldn't mind seeing him continue his efforts in the VA field, and have him take on characters for other video games. He just needs a better character that more closely identifies with his personality to really shine, not unlike Joker in Mass Effect.

While I think its cool that an actor likes, or even has the time to play an RPG, Perry never really stood out to me. I consider him a one hit fad from Friends. Actually, now I know why he has time to play RPGs, he doesn't have any work.

Hey, he has some pretty good movies. :sadvaultboy:

I've seen about ten minutes of beginning gameplay-including the introduction. And I agree with everyone else, from what I've heard from his voice acting so far, Matthew Perry seemed to do a great job. As for why they had him? I could think of a few reasons-he's pretty famous for his role in Friends, he's at least decent at voice acting(from what I could tell), he loved Fallout 3, some of the developers liked Matthew Perry and/or Friends or something else involving him.

Now Sunny's voice-acting bugs the hell out of me, and I can't exactly pinpoint the reason. In part, I feel it might be that she makes the world appear a lot less real and is sort of distracting from the actual game, or maybe it makes Sunny's character seem lacking in emotion and value in the game(unless that's the writing), or maybe it's the way she jets through one sentence in the dialog only to at least seemingly take a gigantic, awkward pause before darting through another statement.
...Is anyone else bothered by her, or is this just me here?

Matthew Perry practically pioneered the art of delivering lines in an awkward way and still making them funny. The guy is alright in my book, the fact that he is a gamer is even better. I liked his role in The Whole Nine Yards and there's been several others that I enjoyed too.

I wonder why they chose (enter any actor ever as the voice of any character said actor has played ?("hey man,i got 5 kids to feed!" lol), did one of the creators or maybe all of them watch every episode of (actor's show? without and then with commentary. i played threw the first time not knowing (actor) was the voice and when my friend told me all i could think of was the (funny scene from movie), " who you calling (actor) [censored] ?!?!?!

lol couldn't help myself I fail to see what the point of this thread was?

My theory is some people here had girlfriends who made them watch Friends, and they're taking it out on Matthew Perry.

I think the guy did a great job.

Let's face it - "Friends" represents all that's wrong with modern TV. BUT Mr. Perry had a job to do, and he did it well; you can't "blame" on a guy for a job well done. He also did a great job in this game; one of the best. Jeez, if you can't seperate an actors craft from a particular project you didn't like, then your critiquing is suspect.

I don't see why people hate Mathew Perry so much. Did he do a bad job? No. God forbid anyone who isn't already a superstar do voice acting for a main character.

Pfff, that's a big call for another sitcom that used to be on TV. If I had to point a finger at what is wrong with modern television, I would point it crap like Big Brother, Jersey Shore, Real Housewives and any number of "reality tv" shows.

Anyhoo, I thought Mathew Perry did a nice job and most of his movies are watchable.

Am I the only one here who thinks Friends was funny?
Mind you I'm not a big fan but the occasional episode that I've seen have made me laugh.

Probably because he loved Fallout 3.

Indeed.

I'm no fan of Friends or Chandler, but I think he did a pretty good job with New Vegas. I had some negative preconceived opinions about Benny before playing the game because of Matthew Perry, and I'm pleased they never were fulfilled during the game. I was pleasantly surprised, and that's always a good thing :)

Agree 100%. But "crap" comes in many flavors.

Anyhow, we can agree that Mr. Prerry did a good job.

Never saw Friends, and haven't really seen any of his other work either. So I had no pre-conceived notions about how well he would do in New Vegas. But I have to say that his portrayal of Benny was excellent. Two thumbs up! :)

Perry did fine as Benny. People are hating because Friends was for chicks or gay men.

No. She's not involved in the game long enough for it to be an issue for me. And since the over all voice acting is so superior to the last fallout game I played, I'm too deliriously happy to pick nits......on that topic at least. :P
