I'm thinking more along the lines of the slaves who follow Abe Lincoln, but dont really know why (this can be compared with the Kings in NV who I loved),
of course they do know why! heck, even their adversaries' names are related to that part of history. so i don't see the wackyness in here
that was pretty wacky, yes (and one of the few places where you could really do something, namely rigging the election, that went beyond shooting or sneaking)
Paradise Falls, Blowing up Megaton, Little Lamplight/Big Town, Arefu (Vampires), Andale (cannibal village), Herbert Dashwood, Canterbury Commons. Rivet City too, not wacky but a wow moment for me. I dont recall any wow moments in NV.
Also I loved GNR a lot more than NV Radio, as Three Dog was talking to YOU and his broadcasts would change depending on how you played. On NV Radio its just a bunch of dull news. I felt like more of a celebrity in FO3 thanks to Three Dog. I appreciate that not everyone feels that way though.
Dont get me wrong I love NV, especially the companion side of the game is much improved, I just feel there's something missing - not enough randomness.
i personally switched off three dog after a certain time. he was fun for a while, but got repetitive too soon(i'm not even starting on all his bugs, post-broken steel).
nv radio is not much different, sans the fact that mr. new vegas doesn't mention you personally, which in my eyes is just plausible, because you never met him, and you're just another person in the big picture of new vegas. three dog was almost like a stalker.
still mr vegas talks quite a bit about your actions, and what i also like about radio nv are the interviews with folks you met over the course of the game.
still, i mostly leave the radio off, because i love inon zur's soundtrack, and the fact that it is really rich and varied this time. in fo3 you had like 3 scores and that was about it. this time there's a large number of scores, and the decision to blend them with mark morgans stuff was a stroke of genius.
all in all i think fnv is not less wacky than fo3. things like nuking megaton i don't consider as being funny
