Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 4:32 am

Red Dead Redemption takes the win on this for me im affraid. But its between that and Skyrim anyway

I agree. Red Dead Redemption is even more beatifull then Skyrim. If you standing on the railroad that crosses the river between Hennigan's Stead and Diez Coronas....breathtaking!!!

It's the most beautiful game I've ever played (I'm playing on the PS3)

I've modded the hell out of Crysis on the PC, got it looking photo-realistic, high-res textures, 1920 x 1080 native, but still SKYRIM continues to take my breath away - because it's a work of art.

The people that bash the graphics/textures on this game don't seem to realize that this game is pure art. A beautiful painting doesn't need ultra-detail. It's all about creating something beautiful with paint strokes that takes the viewer into another dimension. Sometimes a painting can move me so much that I'll just sit and stare, and it gives me that moment of escapism.

SKYRIM has brought a huge world together in that way and made it a complete work of art. Doesn't matter where you stand or what direction you look in - all the paints, colours, lines and angles come together perfectly - nothing seems to be out of place. Walking towards a mountain that's 3 miles away, watching it get closer, then have it tower over as you prepare to climb is breathtaking.

I choose to play this on the PS3 over PC. I prefer the 720p look w/ lower framerates - gives it a classic movie look.
Movies play at 24FPS for a reason - it gives it that "movie" look. That's why I prefer playing on the PS3. 60FPS looks a bit silly on this game.

Most beautiful game ever.

To me, it's a tie with Red Dead Redemption. They are two very different landscapes, but equally stunning in my opinion.

Definitely. I'm on PS3 and I'm still saying that, even when compared to the PC games I play.
Well done Beth!

Basically this.

But really, Red Dead Redemption. And several others, but I don't feel like listing them here. I needed A LOT of graphic tweaks to make Skyrim look awesome, and it's still not my favourite design. But of course design I can't change, hence RDR wins.

Ha ha I loved GTA4. I had so much fun screwing around in that game world once I had finished the main story. The Gay Tony expansion made it even more fun. Can't wait for GTA5.

Red Dead was amazing too. That world seemed really alive minus some of the scripted events that happened far too often. But the actual world was amazing.

But yea Skyrim is definitely one of the best.

On PC, with ultra settings and just the official texture pack, it looks awesome.

Fallout 3 wins by a mile in that sense, and that's even in a post-apocalyptic world.

I don't know. Maybe it's growing up in the South West, but the land of Red Dead Redemption is something I instantly gravitate to. Skyrim's beautiful too, but I don't get the same feeling looking at it's landscape as I do when I'm riding through New Austin.
I live in the south west as well. I like the desert landscape, but its IMO, bland and lifeless. Good for some things, but beauty is a rarity. Unless we are talking Sedona. Amazing place id love to go camping sometime.

I like Sedona as well, but the Sonoran Desert beautiful, and the sunsets in my neck of the woods are just to die for.

Skyrim reminds me a lot where I live. Rivers, streams, the forest, small towns, bigger towns, deer, elk, wolves, rabbits, foxes. Skyrim is like my backyard. I live In western Kentucky

If Skyrim is so awful then you don't need to waste your time in the Skyrim forums talking about it. Right?

Anyways - I agree with the OP. Skyrim is an absolutely beautiful game.

This one is on par with Red Dead Redemption's. I loved RDR's majestic vistas and epic landmarks. Skyrim is effin' sick too

I have to agree, I don't think we have seen an open world game with graphics as good. Though there are nto many fancy new open world games that come to mind.

Possibly. Just Cause 2s landscapes were equally as vast, diverse and beautiful though, so I'm undecided.

Crysis 2 is classified as open-world. This thread has no reason to be.
