Most used Class(es) will be...

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:09 pm

At first we're going to have Light Operatives out the wazoo. After that dies down I think we'll be seeing a lot more Medics and Engineers, and a lot more people returning to the Medium bodytype. However, there will still be a lot of Operatives. Nothing will stop people from trying to be ninja assassins, not even the inability to be ninja assassins.

Ultimately: Medium Soldiers & Medics.

I'll be running the same as I have this feeling majority of the people out there will be running a light Operator when the game launches.

Why so unfortunate? They have a very specific set of uses between crowd control and objective demolition, and ammo handouts which are rarely neccesary in large amounts in any respawn game.

Yeah I suppose that's true, It just seems weird when support classes outnumber standard infantry troops (although soldiers are, in a way, a support class of their own)

I actually plan on running a soldier at this point, although he's going to be role specific and not a "Big Frontliner". Weapons and weights seem to define that part of player role much more than class this time out.

A light operative will be the *last* (as in, absolutely dead last) class that I play. But among the others I am torn. I may very well start three different characters basically simultaneously, one to be a medic, one to be an engineer, and one to be a soldier. Maybe.

Thankfully we play about 5 levels before we can choose any class-specific abilities, so I will have some time before making my first choice about primary class.

Another idea would be to start one character as Resistance and one as Security, and play for five levels through both of the campaigns before beginning to make decisions about class. Now *that* sounds like a good idea!

To start with i think we'll get a ton of medium Medics. Then as people unlock light body type we'll see a massive jump in light Operative players, but as the more casual gamers unlock them the hardcoe crowd will move towards Engies and Medics again!

Yeah that's one of the things I like about brink, its classes seem to be designed to allow you to play the way you want and they don't try to force anything on you

DAMMIT!!! I hate playing the class that everyone chooses. If everyone in the world went Resistance, I would say hell no, I'm playing Security. If everyone in the world used the Barrett sniper, I'd say screw that and use the Drognav rifle, if everyone chooses engy, I'm saying [censored] YOU! and playing soldier

Damn you! I want to be the Security Soldier!

You can keep the Drognav though, while everyone else is sticking to the autos, I'll be cover shifting, closing in with my Mossington, then...
"Grenade! dodge left!
WHAT THE SNAP!"
I'm in their face, which I proceed to fill with a cartridge-full of shottie rounds, smash with the shotguns butt, and (possibly) sit on repeatedly.

Soldier most underpopulated (at first), with Ops and Engineers being overpopulated. Medic numbers will probably stay rather steady.

At first everyone will go crazy with Light Operatives, because they want to be ultra-cool ninja assassins or whatever, then they will give up because they realize it`s harder to use than they originally thought.

At that point you`ll start seeing more and more Medium Engineers and Soldiers surfacing.

As the original light operative I wish everyone would get off the bandwagon before I get my knife out and get stabby.

I'd wait until I'd actually played the game to decide whether or not an entire class is a joke, but that's just me (also that's not an ability that everyone automatically has)

Now I know that the classes will change because of different objectives, but no matter what game you play, there will always be idiots who just won't play right. So, I ask you people, what do you think the most used class or classes will be?

If they don't play right then they will not be rewarded for their actions is what I am garnering from the SD team philosophy of Brink's gameplay.

its a universal ability that most will take, jus lik stopping power in cod. if everyone flocks to a class then the class becomes a joke if most players svck at it. its lik the recon class from bfbc2, most recon players are terrible and predictable.

So you'll be an Operative too? They're the only ones with Stickies.

And if you want to get close enough to throw that without being taken down by Long Rifle and Machine Pistol fire, you're going to need to be Light. And REALLY good.

This is Wraith you're talking about here. You probably won't see him until the second knife swing. And even then you'll have to be pretty good to realise where your health is going.

That's like trying to chase me down, except he's on XBox instead of PS3.

Congrats, PC gamers, on not having to be as scared of Light Ops (or do we have a good one there too? Wouldn't surprise me...)

i will be playin operative once the flood of them is gone, at first ill be medic and soldier or whatever is needed for the team to help balance the teams. operatives suit my play style the most, i jus dont want to be on the team with all operatives and we need to blow up somethin as a soldier.

and im hoping there will be good players instead of all the noobs that i keep seeing in cod, bfbc, and reach. i actually lik it when ppl are better than me that way when i actually beat them it feels lik an accomplishment (or if i lose i learn from my mistakes).

You can't throw a sticky at what you can't see my friend.

If they are noobs I will play with bots since I know they have my back, along with the Legion.

Heavy operatives need more love :( Yes they may well be the most useless concoction of class/body type ever thought up but hey, they will be hella fun to play on and especially as a complete troll of a class.

They will even look like a troll...

I don't see heavy Ops being useless, honestly.

Interrogate/Hack Comms (whatever it's being called now, I'm not sure any more) on a downed enemy = 10 seconds of radar. useful when you're near the highest concentration of enemies. And have a Minigun or Grenade Launcher so you can take them down fast.

Sticky Bombs coming from a Heavy HAS to be the least expected point-blank GTFO move in the history of gaming.

And having a tank who can see through Disguises and spot Minefields is a pretty nice touch as well. (EDIT: And Firewalling CPs. And tanking your way through turret fire just to hack the thing)

ha true,

When i said useless i more meant one of the "Niche" classes. You will very rarely see it as it kinda is a little bit pointless based on what an Op should really be doing. A heavy is no way going to be effective at sneaking past people to hack stuff. but on the other hand, WHO NEEDS TO SNEAK PAST AND HACK WHEN YOU CAN JUST BLAST YO WAY THROUGH WITH STICKY BOMBS, GRENADE LAUNCHERS AND OTHER SUCH HEAVY WEAPONRY!!!!! -RAEG FACE
