MW3 Pre-orders

Call of Duty is the World of Warcraft of FPS'ers.

Exactly.

I don't understand the hate, it's sales do not affect you in any way, shape, or form, so why hate it, only because it's popular.

I don't hate the game, I hate the kind of people who play it. I'm not talking about anyone on this forum, but people I know in real life.

The only reason i hate these games ( I liked them before they started coming out yearly) is because i don't play them and it's the only thing my friends ever talk about which is annoying as hell. I could say the same of many, many games/movies/other things though.

More power to ya if you buy it. I don't think they are bad games.. just not different enough to warrant buying a new one every year.

I'm kinda glad I'm too burnt out on FPS games to care.

This, exactly.

Hmm. Good for them. Nice to see people are enthusiastic for their product. :)

----

edit: also, it's been interesting to see how big a marketing juggernaut that series has become. Sunday's Best Buy flyer, for instance, was loaded with all sorts of MW3-branded third party products. X360s, controllers, headsets..... even several MW3-cased cellphones ("free" with 2 year commitment/etc).

And then there's Chrysler's MW3 special edition http://www.mlive.com/auto/index.ssf/2011/11/chrysler_prices_2012_jeep_wran.html.

All of which just makes the wailing and gnashing about "But why would Gamestop do a midnight release for MW3 instead of Skyrim??!?!" and other similar things, look very, very silly.

The game's going to generate billions in sales between all the associated stuff. Gee, why would any store want to hitch their wagon to that?

I've played every COD to date. Never paid more than €20 for any of them. They're excellent games, just not worth the release price. Especially since I don't bother with multiplayer.

Pretty much.

I like the singleplayer to them, and I really like spec-ops. The multiplayer . . . just isn't good. The mechanics are made to be abused. Hasn't been enjoyable since WaW. I will probably pick MW3 up once used copies are found around $25 or so.

Battlefield 3 is definitely more my taste. Not meant as a fight starter.

That's interesting, because most people seem to like the multiplayer and loathe the overly scripted 'Let me open that door for you after a long conversation with my squad mate that you have to listen all over again if you die in the next minute' single player experience.

That would've been breaking news.

This isn't really news.

COD. COD never changes.

 Can I sig that??

I'm more of a Battlefield fan, but as of late, FPS games have been sliding off me. My mates, however, love COD.

*Puts on best Ron Perlman impression* Call Of Duty, Call Of Duty never changes.

Too long. Should start short like:
CoD, Cod Never Changes.

Though I like CoD games, I play the story a few times and its still good, linear but still good. Multiplayer in those games starts getting stale after like 3rd prestige and I begin to only play it when I have a friends online to join me, or even my brother.

OP: There are a lot of [censored] on that page :P

Eh. Couldn't really tell you why I like them, I just do. I think I am easily entertained as long as the shooting is fun.

I am one of the few fans of BF3's singleplayer. Outside of the jet mission, I found it fun.

What really grates me is how people equate sales figures to being good. IIRC the transformers movies did VERY well, but it's still recieved poorly by many I meet. (My opinion isnt made since I have not watched any of the transformers movies.)

For the most part, I've never cared for FPS games in general, and the only on FPS (per se) I liked was Bioshock/2 but I played Battlefield BC2 on my little brothers 360, and tbh I was disappointed, the writing was good and had a nice story, but it was so short. Not being an FPS conesieur, I wasnt aware a 2-3 hour story is a general FPS trend. But watching COD videos just to understand them, they arent worth the 50 dollars IMO. Multiplayer games dont phase me (Though pending on the game I can enjoy its feature), for me I judge a game on its actual qualities, and from what I've seen, theres very little changeup in each game, a few new textures here, a change in animation there. Beyond multiplayer, can someone explain to me why people play FPS? (Not a condescending question, I just dont know why people buy these games for anything beyond Multiplayer, if there is another reason)

Impressive amounts of hate for the franchise here. Not that I disagree with some of it, but it's rude to insult their fans.

Oh God, that was hilarious.

Just curious, what FPS would any of you pay 60.00 dollars for?

My list:

DOOM 4, being more like the originals than DOOM 3.
Crysis 3.
Bioshock Infinite.

Yup pretty sure it's scientifically proven that everyone who plays COD has an IQ below 50.

That's sarcasm if you haven't noticed.
