People actually like Taco Bell? It's hands down my least favorite fast food joint, I swear they use catfood in their tacos. I'm also amazed at the lack of care people have for what they put into their bodies [insert American fat joke]

When the average real food is 3 times more expensive then McDonald, that's the only kind of thing you can stomach everyday.

What else do expect from fast food? It's more plastic than protein...

Seriously right? So shocking.

Next thing you know they'll tell us that the government is corrupt.

If you're eating fast food, it isn't like you give a damn about what you're eating anyway. When I eat at taco bell healthy is the last thing on my mind.

Here's an idea, don't eat there and let you're dollars do the talking. More lawsuit BS.

Good for Taco Bell. False advertising is wrong.

Doesn't surprise me at all, never ate from there after getting a taco to find that their meat tasted like a "just add water!" type thing....

Not if you buy your own food at a supermarket. I just bought four 8 oz steaks for $15, thats about $4 a steak, keep in mind this is Canadian prices too. You could buy some salad mix for like $5 which would last you for a few days and some potatoes. That's a full, healthy meal for about $6. Fast food isn't the only thing available, it just takes a bit of effort.

Interestingly enough, Taco Bell rated highest in cleanliness and food prep in the country.

That doesn't surprise me. I don't think I've ever seen a dirty Taco Bell. Even the bathrooms were spotless.

Not sure, but several years ago, before I moved to Oregon, some guy at the local Taco Bell got caught, and fired, for adding his very own "special sauce" to the sour cream.

Yeah, and worse than that? The law says a former employer can't say WHY they fired you, just whether they'd ever hire you again. He was working at the local Fish and Chips place for a few years before it closed down...

We've had chocolate bars no longer being allowed to call it chocolate because it had too little coco in it. And Cider not being allowed to call itself cider because of too little fruit juice.

When I read the title, I thought the "Mystery Meat" was going to be like the "Strange Meat" from Fallout 3. :P

I thought so too, but since it's just filling, I'm both glad and dissappointed. Still, just saying it's mostly filling isn't very helpful, since we don't know what's in the filling. Even so, I'm glad to see that someone is taking action against this, even though it's not at all a shock that the supposedly 100% pure meat isn't actually that at all. When I get fast good, I'm certainly not expecting to get healthy food, but I'd rather not be decieved as to what I'm actually eating. Either deliver what you promise, or stop making false claims. But with this sort of thing, to change it, someone needs to show them that this is not the kind of treatment their customers want.

Granted, I don't think I've ever once eaten at a Taco Bell anyway, but I'm sure that lots of other fast food places are doing similar things, it's just a question of which ones we know about.

Most likely corn derivative.

When the average real food is 3 times more expensive then McDonald, that's the only kind of thing you can stomach everyday.

Sadly, for many Americans this is true.
The fast and preprocessed food industry is heavily subsidized by the government. Fruits, vegetables, healthy lean meats / seafoods, and whole grains are more expensive to purchase and prepare.

The only things I like at Taco Bell is the pintos and cheese, and the chicken gordita.
I figure their beef probably is cut with soy filler.

Four steaks at $8 a pound would run me $32. And that's cheap sirloin. Canada must have far less expensive beef than we do in Florida.

Like others doesn't surprise me. I can walk in there with a $5 and walk out with a pound of assorted taco/burritos. I don't expect 100% USDA ground sirloin in my 99 cent taco.

The issue is false advertising and what you are putting into your body. Would you eat it if they called it what it is, "Almost Meat" ? You should be aware of what you are putting into your body, granted, if you thought this was in anyway nutritionally valuable in the first place you were flat out lying to yourself the fact remains, it is not meat nor should it be called meat.

Its 100% beef and has always been.
