We need the ability to drop quests

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 2:05 pm

Especially when I start a new character, my quest log gets filled up way too quickly just by talking to people (even when I don't explicitly agree to do anything for them)...but these are quests that I've already done and/or choose not to do. And they take up so much space in my log, it's enough to actually bother me...it's like, I want to clear out my quest log, bad enough to the point that I start repeating these quests...my semi-OCD is making the game feel like work and it's starting to get boring...just because I can't drop quests.

We should at least be able to "hide" them.

I wonder if had they taken the time to actually finish the game we'd have the ability to do this.

I don't really think they program a game with either OCD or pseudo-OCD in mind.

I'm so sick of the game being so mediocre and shallow because they didn't take the time to finish it properly.

Not being able to edit your quest log is shallow?

because spending more time on a game obviously makes it better that is why Duke Nukem is so popular

that game was finished that is why it was released on 11/11/11

This also just initiating an dialogue adds the quest to your quest log, the option to say no to an offer who don't fit your character had been nice.
This is more of an problem in Skyrim than Oblivion because of the quest list, had the quest just disappeared back in a book it would not be as annoying.

Should be fixable with mod but require rewriting the dialogue and add an cancel option, this will set the quest stage to 0, so talking to target again will restart it.

I honestly think this alone would fix an assload of bugs. A lot of bugs result from numerous quests being active at the same time. And if you're unlucky enough to be a certain distance in a questline... there are even MORE bugs

Yep - shows a lack of attention to detail (and/or laziness)

Is editing the quest log some industry standard that Bethesda just dropped the ball on? Because I know you couldn't edit your quest log in Oblivion. Can you in Morrowind? I don't remember if you could do something similar in Dragon Age I; how about DA:2?

I can't recall a game that lets you remove active quests from the journal. I think when you finished a quest you could remove it from your journal in Baldur's Gate but so far as I know they simply don't let you remove the journal information on an unfinished quest from any game. And the reason is simple. Not being able to drop quests is a minor annoyance but accidently dropping a quest would be a disaster. We'd have people in here &)*&)*&@$ everyday they accidently dropped a quest and didn't notice.

So far as I can recall no game has ever had that feature.

Seconded.

We need the ability to drop quests - seconded.

And yyes. This game is shallow. It is a jack of all trades. It's what comes of being an open world. It could be a lot more than it is if it wasn't on a single DVD for a platform with very old hardware. I am not console bashing. This game very obviously and undeniably suffers significantly from storage requirements

Eh? Plenty of games have had that feature.

But I agree, who cares about it anyway...this just sounds like major nitpicking. And there would be intense rage over accidentally dropping them.

This can be fixed with a mod, putting quests into two different categories. On the left, relevant fetch quests and on the right irrelevant fetch quests that get so repetitive you want to kill yourself and do nothing towards the games progression.

You're throwing words in his mouth. He said that some things are sacrificed for the sake of being open world (more or less) and it's true in this case. I feel their attention was on environment and combat options. Thus, story and character depth were set aside

I'd like to cancel quest to... (or have them reset so when we incur a bug) we can fix it.

I can not stand NPC's who force quests on you. (Forsworn Con.) or Brynolf for theives guild.

Look buddy, i'm not gonna help you con someone, ***** off and get hell out of my quest log. LOL.

I would prefer, a cancel thou. (mostly to fix busted quests) and have it remove the quest items.

Or on Console versions, (Not a tilde ~ commands) But options to
-Reset quest "current active quest"
-Clear Data Chache
-Reset NPC (for those that stop moving, or get stuck)
-Clear Game World (to reset bad guys, clear all corpses, remove items on ground. (so i don't have to wait 30days...)

and other options... iike turn off shadows, more of lsiders PC version has so I can make game run towards what i want.

Join the club haha. I just simply don't like playing things on PC. I didn't grow up on it or anything. But they get some damn cool features.

Storage space isn't an issue, a few 360 games are multidisk such as L.A. Noire and Rage. Which use three DVD's on the 360 and a single blue-ray disk for the ps3. Its very likely GTAV will be multidisk for the 360 and a single blue-ray disk on the ps3.

Really name some, I can't recall a game with a quest journal that let you delete active quests from it.

MMO's don't count. You don't see a lot of one-shot quests in MMO's so accidently canceling one isn't an issue. They simply don't function by the same rules as single player games.

I find it more annoying that you can verbally decline someone's quest, but it gets put in your journal anyways as though you accepted...or in some cases you have no option to accept or decline at all.

Right. Skyrim is totally lacking in detail.

I think that Bethesda missed the boat because they don't have employees who will come to your house and play the game for you. It was thoughtless they didn't do that. Sometimes having to read the Quests is so laborious, right? Who has time to read an entire sentence?
