Needs more things to sink your money into.

Wow really ladycrimson? I play on very hard but not hardcoe and I'm really low on caps, I only have 4k, and I hardly have any stimpacks or doctors bags! I wish I could afford some nice combat armor!

The game could stand for things to be slightly more expensive, maybe. You don't even need to gamble or play caravan: the traditional RPG "loot everything" mentality is enough to keep you well supplied.

And maybe that's what they were going for? Make things cheap enough that you could play the game without obsessively stealing and opening every single desk and locker? My 2nd playthrough I didn't bother scrounging and it was much more relaxing than the OCD room-clearing that characterized my initial playthrough.

Also, why would you keep making money after buying the implants and getting around 20-30k caps? At that point your money is functionally unlimited for the rest of the game.

But I didn't gamble or exploit money glitches, nor did I play caravan or stuff like that.

I did have 60 barter though.

At 40 - 50 hours played I had around 30 to 40k caps. Then I spent alot on implants and pretty guns from gun runners. And I was left with about 2000 :sadvaultboy:

I like how you incorporate using money glitches & cheats in same sentence as gambling.. You think gambling & caravan = cheating. Must of slipped the developers when they accidentally coded in by mistake of putting in 4 huge casino buildings w. blackjack, slots, & roulette. And then accidentally named the game Vegas.

I agree there needs to be a "money sink" in the game we can dump all our caps into since money becomes no problem at the end of the game. Something we definitely don't need or will necessarily boost our performance like the way implants do. Maybe... we could spend a $#!+load of caps on renovating, cleaning up, and hiring people for the Lucky 38's casino and cocktail lounge to get it back up and running again? :celebration:

I agree, cosmetic or a luxury item/idea things so people won't complain how they can't afford it. You know put something in the game that costs 500,000 caps :) Like you mentioned opening the cocktail lounge as an example.

Well some of it is random. I've had some starts where those things were definitely more rare as loot for a little while, as well. Also depends what kind of path you're taking through the game, of course. If you only wander the open desert for a long while, you won't find too many. I'm not saying I'm ever super-rich early in the game or anything of that sort, since I don't play caravan. But between my OCD looting/selling and enemies that seem to drop so much stuff, I don't have much trouble accumulating enough caps to purchase ammo/improvements as I reach them.

I disagree. Stimpacks are easy to come by, so anyone can make a huge profit off selling stimpacks and just sticking with Sunset bottles, especially Super Stimpacks. Rad Away and Rad-X could use a price increase though (more so with Rad Away).

I also disagree that the economy is better than in Fallout 3. I end up with way more caps than I did in Fallout 3 (never got over 10k in Fallout 3) since high end weapons are not only easy to come by, they are also extremely profitable to sell. My current gladiator character has three fully repaired Hunting Shotguns (despite me not using them), and once I arrive at the Gun Runners, I am going to sell them for a ton of caps.

You may not have made it to 10,000 caps in Fallout 3 but you never needed to. Once you purchased all the house improvements there wasnt much else to pay for. Also due to the levelled enviroment at high levels pretty much everyone is walking around with a Plasma Rifle which sold for a lot of caps. The point of having a load of money with nothing to spend it on came a lot sooner in Fallout 3 than it does in FNV.

Oh since you put it that way should i play with my left hand only or my feet, that will spike the difficulty of the game as well. Sorry i need a luck of 6 at least to have Better criticals, a must have perk, no ones going to argue w. that. Or if i want to follow your logic should i pick up the worst perks the game has to offer to make the game harder.

Don't complain, and then spit in the face of some one giving you an option.
Besides adding a vice adds a nice RPing element to the game.

Its not the games fault you 'soft' cheated by selling, and winning back your cash.

I've made maybe 49k from caravan........... Whether you call that cheating or not, subtract the 49k from 190k i have total. Still in the same scenario w.o having anything to use in-game currency on. I'm being told to play the game differently to make it harder such as don't gamble, don't pick up good perks, don't play caravan, play w. your feet, play with your eyes closed, and don't complain.
Aside from all the 9 implants i bought at level 7 or 8 there was ZERO ways to get rid of your money, now whether i have 190k or 1k at this point theres ZERO ways of using it.

Who told you to play with your feet, or closed eyes?
Must have missed that one...
What the people who are suggesting you play a bit different are actually suggesting is that you can subtract a bit of caps by adding a bit of gameplay.
What you are saying people are suggesting is that you subtract gameplay to add difficulty.

If you min/max a character in any game that game is going to be easier.
My gambler has over 100k caps, and she is only lvl 15.
The raw deal with her is that no matter how many caps I have there is seldom any MF rounds for sell, and she is a pure energy build.

Again you must not see the original point i made with my original post. I'll say it again, there is ZERO ways to use money after all implants are purchased.
I'm talking to you DEVs add a money sink to the game, which is the title of this thread.

I ditch selling and looting weapon once I bought all house upgrade and 15k in my pocket; in NV my first character have about 25k before the BoHD, 2nd character got 15k without getting the Platinum chip, third on 10k just hit Novac because he's melee........

If someone sells mini-nukes for 1k I am gonnin'

Don't laugh. I did something similar to that (avoiding some of the "best" perks) my last playthrough of FO3. Ended up being my most enjoyable playthrough.

If you want accumulation of wealth to be more challenging, make it harder. Lower your luck and go without your alledged "must have" perk. You might surprise yourself and have a whole lot of fun.

All that said, most games I play like this seem to lack in the area of things to sink your money into.

Red Dead Redemption was the worst of all time in this area.

Maybe they could add in buying implants for companions?

I'd buy Cass some implants in heartbeat! :rimshot:

Only if you can get her to wear the Great Khans outfit. Then it'd definitely be worth it.

I play on Very Hard (but not hardcoe) and I still always have a vast plethora of stimpacks, doctor bags, and other "aids" that I rarely ever need or use.

I'm playing very hard + hardcoe + "harder hardcoe rates" mod and I definitely consume a lot of chems, food, water, radaway and stimpaks. I generally find enough stimpaks and radaway to have a small surplus, and there are plenty of creatures with meat that can be cooked; however, sometimes I find myself far from a water source with very little caps to buy water, and as I'm avoiding fast travel, it takes quite some time to get to a doctor to cure addictions and crippled limbs. I recently hobbled around the wasteland for several days with all of my limbs crippled. i have the rad child perk and I stay at deadly or critical rad poisoning level (+6HP/sec or +8HP/sec), so I only need to use stimpaks during a tough fight.

I agree, except I have never been able to get more than 15k caps.

Really? I had like 50K in FO3. I used to sell most stimpaks and all energy cells and make a killing. Stimpacks and radaway (not to mention caps) were too easy to find in the Capitol Wasteland.

I made no deliberate effort to make money in Fallout 3, but I did sell anything I wasn't using- guns ammo if I used energy weapons, energy cells of all types if I was a guns user, etc.- and tended to walk around with over 100k caps on me within about 2 levels after furnishing my house.

I never made an effort to make money in FO3 either...mostly because there wasn't anything I needed/wanted to buy. By the time I was level 17 or so I just stopped picking things up for the most part...there was no reason to. I couldn't take two steps without tripping over high-end weapons and power armor.

The most I made in Fallout 3 was about 5k caps. Then again I didn't scour the wasteland in search of riches because there was no way I'd be able to spend that much money anyway. On my last character in Fallout: New Vegas I had 50k caps (and $10,000 NCR stashed in the safe in my Novac place.) and I still didn't spend it on anything except booze and ammo.

I had a TON of booze and ammo...

Yep. You've just described why I walked around with 100k caps rather than 1,000,000 caps.

Paying Raul, or Major Knight, for repairs to my gear and buying C4 charges seems to keep the caps down to reasonable levels.

buying out a caravan vendor before beating him in caravan for 20k a game, doesn't take long

There's your problem, you can't exploit a glitch to make money and then complain that you have to much money...

Hey I hear its easy to make your point of view when you take stuff out of context. This isn't FoxNews.

I've stated over 3 pages whats wrong w. the in-game currency. I've stated how i've obtained the amount i did, and caravan was a small fraction of the contribution..

then complain that you have to much money...
Sadly i wouldn't be complaining if i had TOO much money. As implying having too much, you would of had a way to spend it in the first place to begin with. But guess what, after you get all the implants on your character ANY amount of money is considered TOO much as it becomes obsolete other then the petty amount required to purchase dirt cheap ammo.
