Just like with gameplay difficulty, it can be hard to balance 'money' in a game that's designed to be able to be played in a variety of ways & styles. If you are like me and never play caravan and rarely gamble, huge giant wads of caps are a little harder to come by, especially up to about the mid-point of the game. I'm not saying making a decent amount of money in NV is hard, in fact it's fairly simple, but I never reach that much cash in my games. I think I rarely had over 25k-35k caps at any one time. Plenty for what I liked to do, but....having stuff cost an astronomical amount more would probably piss me off a little...since then I'd feel like I'd have to play caravan or have to gamble more etc.
If you're on PC, you're free to add in more things to buy or to alter the costs of things as much as you wish to suit your tastes via self-modding or other people's mods. Otherwise leave my non-gambling/non-card playing price points alone.
I agree, except I have never been able to get more than 15k caps.
I think the econemy this time round was a little better than Fallout 3s but it still needs improving.
Lately ive been using Explosives for the 10,000 damage achievement and that is a large money sink. Im spending well over 200 caps on everything I kill. Energy Weapons are also quite expensive to use. Whats cheap all the time though are guns. High end gun Ammo needs bumping up in base value and so does stuff like Stimpacks and RadAway. 25 base value for a Stimpack is WAY too low. It needs to be at least 100 with Super Stimpacks being around 500.
I disagree. Stimpacks are easy to come by, so anyone can make a huge profit off selling stimpacks and just sticking with Sunset bottles, especially Super Stimpacks. Rad Away and Rad-X could use a price increase though (more so with Rad Away).
I also disagree that the economy is better than in Fallout 3. I end up with way more caps than I did in Fallout 3 (never got over 10k in Fallout 3) since high end weapons are not only easy to come by, they are also extremely profitable to sell. My current gladiator character has three fully repaired Hunting Shotguns (despite me not using them), and once I arrive at the Gun Runners, I am going to sell them for a ton of caps.
