Nerevarine = OP. CoC = OP. Dragonborn = OP UHH NERF BETH?

Spoiler
The Blades means of discovering dragonborn is to watch them kill a dragon, seeing as there were no dragons they couldn't know.

That is not how they recognized Reman is it?

Do you mean Reman? In any case the post-war Blades wouldn't have the same resources.-

After Martin? Why not?

After the war with the Thalmor I would agree with you, but there is little to sugest they were crippled by the oblivion crisis. Acording to some sources they were strong enough to hurt the Thalmor.

I meant the Great war, but even during the Oblivion crisis the majority of Blades don't seem to either know about, or place much stock in finding a Dragoborn. And when the Medes came into power I doubt they would want any Dragonborn being discovered and laying a claim on the throne.

There is no need to try and zing people who you disagree with.

And in Morrowind and Oblvion you got OP through combat (and training if you had gold, which you had to deliberately do) whereas in Skyrim you get OP by practicing a skill. <<<( which you have to deliberately do also)
Seems like no difference to me, grinding combat or crafting is the same IMHO...
Believe me I have played enough MMOs to know grinding is still grinding no matter which way you slice it.

From what I understood the Blades didn’t take orders from the Emperor that came after Martin. They didn’t see him as a legitimate heir, but they still saw themselves as protectors of the empire. Supposedly they did actively search for a dragonborn, or so they said. I am guessing that the first Blade you meet in Skyrim was little more than a talented grunt so it would be normal for her not to know how to check if you are dragonborn or not. There just has to be an easier way to check lol.

1- Moaning about a skill/game/mechanic is one thing, moaning about someone moaning is another. I find first one more reasonable.
2- Just because something (arguabe) good/bad thing was implemented in elder series doesn't make a rule it MUST be carried to next series.
3- Just because we choose to be very OP or not doesn't mean it should be in game or not. Say if there is a -KILL- spell that instantly kills anything at once, and you don't use it becasue its your choose, it would still be stupid to have in game, either you choose to use it or not.
4- What about people who want to smith/enchant/alchemy but still want game to be challnging in master diffclty ?
No one is buying the whole "skyrim on master is ez" thing, seriously. It's difficult. Unless you are using some mod to change things, vanilla master is hard unless you just an extremely skilled player who knows everything about the game.

That's how it is with all things. Difficulty is a novelty that goes away with experience. If you gain experience and something doesnt get easier, you are just stupid.

1. You're a hero.
2. If you don't want to be overpowered there are two things you can do; 1. Play on the highest difficulty, 2. Don't level up as much and don't increase your skills.

I would think the Mede Emporer would actively stop the Blades from finding someone to challenge him, and I doubt they would still have the talents/techniques they used in the past after a whole Septim dynasty.

Their entire guild revolves around the dragonborn. They really don’t care about royal bloodlines, they supported Reman and promoted him as Emperor because he was dragonborn. With such a mindset, losing the ability to recognize a dragonborn without something like the great war is unlikely imo.

Their foundations revolved around the Dragonborn, but the Blades at Cloud Ruler Temple seemed pretty devoted to the Septim bloodline, and Caius was devoted to Morrowind rather than the Dragonborn. The Blades seemed to have lost their foundations by the time of the Nerevarine and Oblivion Crisis, becoming little more than a multi-purpose Empire intelligence service.

That’s a pretty good point.
BUT lol if they didn’t know how to tell if someone is or isn’t dragonborn, why would they look for them. You would think a group of dragon slayers turned spies wouldn’t do something so stupid.

The 30x damage is a perk, and a item choice.

CHOICE. You choose to pick that. You don't have to. I fail to see your point, no offense.

Well theres an issue. Skyrim gives us basic options to improve our characters yet we have to not use them. I can see why people complain. Being a rogue and backstabbing is fun. I can't take a perk because it will make me overpowered? *sigh*

Maybe we shouldnt use any perks.

You could overpower yourself in MW in exactly the same way. My character used to take "potions of godliness" and walk around carrying thousands of weight, smashing heads with a single blow, with nearly-infinite HP. Exploit very similar to the one in Oblivion.

My personal rule is not to use exploits until I'm done with the MQ. It's not hard to have a little discipline and avoid using obvious exploits.

Difficulty is one of the few things Skyrim succeeded in over its predecessors. I have a level 40 mage with 100 health on master difficulty. It's ridiculously hard.

You did, and to be honest I agree with you, but in Morrowind you got OP by playing the game, wheras in Skyrim you get OP in a minigame.

Don't unnaturally grind skills.

I've used Enchanting and Smithing on nearly every character I've ever played, and I've never become overpowered because of them because I don't grind them unnaturally.

I don't understand why someone would find grinding fun anyway. The fact it makes you overpowered isn't the main incentive to not grind.

I don't grind period.

It's not fun. It's out of character. It is not an enjoyable playthrough.

Leveling Smithing naturally is not overpowered. I've never once been overpowered through natural, intended use of Smithing.

That′s one of the things I like best about Skyrim, I don′t need to grind and power-level in order to keep up with the game difficulty. No matter how I play the game and what skills I focus on, I am always improving my character in relation to the challenges around me. By the time the game starts scaling my enemies up, I am prepared to face the challenge without having had to grind or use exploits.

because the choice to be challenged or cheat yourself out of half the fun should not be an unlabeled yes/no button. in past games, you had to deliberately exploit game mechanics, usually through some strenuous or tedious effort. now all you have to do is pick one or more of a certain skill, often with no intent of making yourself overpowered.

as in, being overpowered should be done through cheating and intentionally, not due to poor balance and without conscious effort. past games were also poorly balanced, but that has not suddenly become "player choice to be overpowered" with skyrim. how you missed that blatant distinction is absolutely beyond me.

The problem with Skyrim is not that you become OP - becoming OP is the point of the whole RPG thing. It's that you become OP way too fast. And, every time I hear people say stupid things like "you can choose to ignore it" and "it's not OP if you don't make it OP" "you cannot restrain yourself" etc, I cannot help but think of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqYxxZoXJVc... Because you don't need to even try, it's all right in your freaking face...
I don't have to grind smithing - I don't go around, buy all iron ore and fast forward 24h and repeat, yet by the 15th hour of my gameplay smithng is always maxxed... and by the 30th enchanting is...

Sorry but im calling absolute bs. 15 hours smithing is maxed huh? Not hardly, i'm afraid

Abd please explain what about simply having 100 smithing makes you OP? All those "free to make" Daedric items? Oh, wait, you need a Daedric heart per. And you're a liar if you say those are easy to come by.

Face it - smithing is only op if you purposely grind it, and MAKE it op by improving items with potions and enchanted gear to make them 200% better.

Daedric items themselves are not that good. Ergo, 100 smithing does not make you op. It's your lack of self control.
