If you find warriors boring then....

Challenge

Play a "warrior" of modest means

This means

NORD
No exotic armor / weapons- Steel only- So you end up with steel plate + steel weapon or wolf armor + skyforge weapon (if you play a companion)

ORC
Orc Armor / Weapons allowed (do not use dwarf weapons / armor as you transition to orc armor)

Take speech to get intimidate and better prices- as a mercenary / sell sword, you know the markets well, can bribe guards to get out of trouble as well as intimidate the crap out of people

You'll find that the game will accomadate you even if you are not min/maxing... just sink your skill points into the logical places... eg: It's OK to sink points in heavy armor if you are not going daedric.... you can still hit the armor cap

One of the more fullfilling things I've done is never go higher then Banded Armor.... not only is the looks of the armor one of the best in the game, there was no problem with defense by being inefficient with skill points. Just get over it and sink 5 points into armor percent.

My last character, a level 54 2-Handed warrior, wore only Hide Armor. I put perks into only three trees: Light Armor, 2-Handed and Smithing.

My current character is a bit more extreme. This character is a dual-wield Thief/Assassin. She is going to play the entire game in street clothes only, no armor. Perks are going into 1-Hand, Lockpicking, Sneak and Pickpocket. She is just level 7 and spends a lot of time walking, watching her environment very carefully. She can die very easily. ;)

You don't need to be a "pure" warrior if you don't want it. My preferred type of classes are spellswords (warriors who use magic, but not Destruction), or battlemages (uses any type of magic).

My favourite character is a one-handed + shield warrior, with a wide variety of custom (modded) Alteration and Restoration spells, and his favourite way of taking off enemies is to teleport behind them and crush them in close combat.

2h weapons are the only melee weapons worth using on horseback.

Slow Time shout is so much fun as a warrior when 7-10 enemies are swarming around you.

Being a warrior in 1st person on an xbox with a 50 inch tv and surround sound blasting is pretty intense on master difficulty. I gotta get kinect now...

It gives a feeling of power when you charge a group of 5+ bandits and start chopping heads off like a beast.

You can deflect arrows and destruction magic with your shield perks.

3rd person while dual wielding is pretty fun for a few days.

You can play a warrior and raise your conjuration super fast by conjuring 2 bound swords right when every fight starts. You gain a level every fight until about lvl 45 or somethin.

True Dovahkiin - Nord, with ancient nordic armor. Only main quest and companions. No crime or reprehensible actions. I used lots of unique ancient nordic artifacts like the Helm of Yngol and Eduj. I used smithing to hit the armor limit. I focused on 1h but used 2h, archery, destruction magic, and sporadic use of other magic skills. I had a high sneak, but that's because I like to make the first shot/hit count. It's pretty fun do play this guy actually. Going to make another because this guy's save file is screwed to where it crashed every time i leave the cell. Some Daedric melee weapons look really good with ancient nordic armor too.
I googled dragon words and gave him a dragon name.
When I forged ancient Nord weapons (100 smithing+enchant) I enchanted them and named them with dragon words too.

I'm going to do the orc next.

I prefer mages by far. I just think that someone who isn't bound by the laws of nature is inevitably more powerful than someone who can swing a hunk of metal at you. The only exception is when it comes to Redguards, simply because their greatest swordsman AREN'T natural. They treat war as a science and study "the best known cuts". In their original homeland of Yokuda, they were basically wandering samurai. The best amongst them can split atoms with their swords and cause a suicidal nuclear explosion. Obviously they banned that move after so many people were blowing cities up, but talk about going out in a blaze of glory! So if you're into roleplaying, I suggest you play as a redguard sword-saint. Being a warrior will be way more fun
