New patch comming?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 6:42 am

Anyway, read the posts stickied at the top of every forum section, read the Bethesda Blog, etc. They haven't been silent. They've posted a bunch of stuff about a patch being in the works and suggestions to post details about your issues in the troubleshooting forums so the devs that keep track of what bugs people are finding. Take a look.

They haven't said anything about another patch being in the works. All they have said is that they will continue to work on issues. What does that mean? If this is not correct, please post some links to the "bunch of stuff" they've posted "about a patch being in the works."

If there is no patch in the works they would hardly be continuing to work on the issues now would they?

From a quick post-by-member search:
As noted http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1125221-please-read-from-the-teams-at-obsidian-and-bethesda/, that is our top priority. We've got guys working on that issue (and others). As soon as we know when it'll be available, we'll share information.

I did notice that some folks thought a new update for New Vegas went up this week -- a 3MB download -- I've asked our developers and they confirmed this does not relate to the updates we're working on for the game. My guess is it relates to changes on Xbox Live this week. There was a similar auto update that folks got with Fallout 3 when the "New Xbox Experience" came out two years ago.

The game updates we're working on emphasize resolving issues with bugs, etc that are being reported by the community. Changes in gameplay aren't too likely to happen -- unless it relates to a bug/issue.

Latest news is posted http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1125221-please-read-from-the-teams-at-obsidian-and-bethesda/. As soon as we have more details, we'll let you know.

The teams at Obsidian and Bethesda have been working on this one and it'll be resolved in an update for the game. More details when I've got them...

We hope to have more details to provide for you guys sometime soon. For the now, the pinned update in this board pretty much covers things -- our teams are hard at work on new updates for the game. When we have more to report, we'll be sure to let everyone know -- in the forums, on the blog, etc, etc.

A new update did not go up today. Teams at Obsidian and Bethesda continue to work on the next update. When we have new information, we'll get it up here on the forums, on our blog, etc.

Until we have concrete details on the next update, there's not a whole lot to say. Echoing what we've said previously, we're digging into all the stuff that's being posted in the forums here (and elsewhere). The developers could be talking here in the forums, but their time is better spent looking into the issues that are being reported.

As soon as we have an update to share, you'll hear from us. Thanks for your patience.

We Mods do try and point out useful threads for Devs to post in - when they have the time. But it's also the nature of a forum that you never know what threads are going to get buried, and which aren't. Once anyone has anything official, or new, to say - it'll be stickied up at the top of the forum, at the very least.

As to the "timeframe" question - I'm guessing it's basically like Softnerd has been explaining (I don't have a fraction of his programming experience, and he's probably explained it much better than I can, already.) To my understanding, asking for a timeframe for a patch is kind of like asking "when are you going to find your lost car keys?"

It's frustrating having to wait for a patch. I've been there. And it's also okay to post about that frustration here (so long as it adheres to Forum Rules - found at the top of every forum on this site - and so long as similar topics are kept within the same thread.) It'd be nice if Dev posts were easier to find on this forum (I know Bioware's tags threads which have Dev responses in them.) But I also think (IIRC) that members have access to searching by member, bringing up their profile page, and then viewing a list of their posts. It's not ideal, but if you really want to see what the Devs are saying, that's a pretty good tool for doing so...

Maybe that's just what those guys do for fun. :P
