Obsidian Entertainment's next project: South Park RPG

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 6:28 pm

What...the...?

I'll look into it. I mean, I really don't like South Park, but if it's good, then it's good. I'm going against my nature here, but I'll wait and see before I judge. :)

Well, when I stopped watching the show years ago, he didn't even do that anymore.

That's the dumbest thing I heard of since Bioware said they were making Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

I was thinking... It's an RPG made by Obsidian, but the story will be written by Parker and Stone.

So the one thing that Obsidian won't be doing is the thing they're actually good at. :P

Bring on the bugs!

I watch it if Im in the mood, and I honestly do not see how you can make an RPG out of a show like South Park. *Sigh* The games just get more and more cashcow.

I will reserve judgement until more information is released. It is Obsidian, so it is at least worth a look.

Apparently you are a completely new character.

That's the dumbest thing I heard of since Bioware said they were making Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

Way to stay positive. My guess is that they aren't going to try and make completely serious game but who knows.

At least it is something different, honexlty how many fantasy and Sci-Fi Rpgs do we need?

Oh and darn them for trying to make money.

That's the type of attitude I like to see.

If they have a demo, I might try it. But I doubt very much I'll buy this game. I've watched about 2 South Park episodes (and some youtube silliness of course) and that's about it. I don't find the show funny at all. Don't hate it, just don't find it funny.

I'm having a really hard time picturing how to turn it into an RPG, too. If anyone can do it, imo, it'll be Obsidian....still...yeah, I'll wait for their next one.
I wish them luck/success with it tho, and hope it does well for them.

True enough I suppose. It's just, of all the things Obsidian COULD be doing, they do a South Park RPG? Really? It's to early to say but an RPG game revolving around a low brow comedy show? Thats almost as bad as giving Carlos Mencia and RPG game. :cryvaultboy:

Well, I'm now officially depressed.

<-- [censored] hates South Park.

I'm with you. I honestly don't see the appeal of South Park and find the show doesn't deserve an RPG game. I seriously don't see this as a good thing. I am disappoint Obsidian. I am disappoint. :sadvaultboy:

Yeah, I hope there is a demo cause no way I will be buying it on opening day or anything like that...cerainly a title I will be reading the reviews of but not something that I would find particularly interesting.

I think calling South Park low brow is a bit of an overstatement. Sure it uses a lot of crass humor but there is also a ton of witty and out of the box type jokes.

Maybe this will be the first South Park game that isn't a fetid pile of [censored]...

... nah, I don't see how it could even be a game: it's a cartoon about pop-culture references and two-dimensional humor. Amusing, but hardly the basis for a compelling narrative - particularly an RPG.

I am so looking forward to this. Especially if Parker and Stone are writing the script/dialogue.

Maybe....just maybe they won't be trying to make a serious game.Yea I know it's a long-shot since South Park is so well known for its story and drama.

If this sells, it just proves the old adage about "a svcker born every minute"

REALLY can't see how to make an RPG out of S.P.???!???!??!
