Official Dawnguard Trailer is up

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 5:40 pm

Looks good, but vampires... Not really my cup of tea... I hate fighting them, and I have never been interested in becoming one.

I'm more of a dragon person.

*sighs and returns to scratching Paarthy's neck*
We can see a dragon in the video; the one that plunges into the lake! Did I see someone on his back? :)

Water Dragons? Does that mean a more in depth underwater experience?
No pun intended....

I actually looked like we can go to his realm. they had that glowing platform which looked like it led to his frozen world (cant remember its name)
Coldharbor? Molag Bal's realm is basically a really f'ed up version of Nirn, a little like the evil Otherworld in the Silent Hill series.

I'm almost 100% sure that its BOTH Solstheim AND Cyrodil, or just Bruma.
But Cyrodil is defo there
And i think the voice oever is MOlag Bal, aswell as his statue AND the emblem on the guy's armor.

What makes you think it's in Cyrodill or Solstheim?

It could tie in with the new underwater visuals they added previously.

How can you tell?

Btw can somebody start screencapping the most interesting bits? Some of us are on phones or at work.
The structures in some scenes are like that of Imperial City and Kavatch, with no snow in sight, yet in others theres ice caps and Frost Giants/ogres

Cliche? Like prophetic hero trying to save the world? or Dragons? Please.
In a game about swords, dragons, and magic, vampires vs. vampire hunters seems cliche to you? Lol open your eyes.

I have to say this, even though people always tend to rage about it when someone brings it up, but Morrowind was not clicé.

HI theere Werewolf&Vampire! Glad you dropped by...seeing how your alias befits the thread!

So you're saying Skyrim was cliché as well? Just one cliché after the other? Anyway, it could still be fun to play if one gets past the dejá vu aftertaste. What bugs me is thtat this kind of falling prey to clichés doesn't bode well for the storytelling, ostentatiously one of the weakest links in Skyrim.

I think he was, and then again I think he wasn't. Tamriel was born from D&D, in the same way that heavy metal sprang from Sabbath, Priest and Venom. In both cases everything that came after could be seen as cliche.

Dammit how do you get that apostrophe (I know thats not the actual name for it) above the 'e'... :P

Some full-fledged games don't even have such a great trailer as this DLC ! Bethesda is so much over the top!

Thanks. SKyrim itself wasn't cliche, but it did use many things that were popularized today. Dragons, werewolves, vampires, elves. It's the generic fantasy, but Bethesda adds their own twist on things.

U noticed the Vampire leader stand beside a statue of Molag Bal , as he made the vampires, he might be involved somehow.
I noticed this too! Looks like we get involved with the Prince of [censored].

This.. I really, really hope there is strong lore for this one as well... It's one of the reasons many people, especially long time players of TES, love TES.
It will be insanely dissapointing if it's just a stereotypical evil vs good thing...
Even more depressing is if the quests are like the Thieves guild........... Do 57349857983457x generic side quests to unlock a proper quest.....
Me too. I want the vampires to not appear cliche and "totally evil". Of course, I never considered them to be evil at all. Just a bunch of man-creatures surviving off the blood of others. Like a common bat or a leech. If anything, they should make both forces seem "evil". Like the Vigilantes of Stendarr can be compared to the Inquision on Nirn. They kill vampires and werewolves and even can go as far as to torture them. And they are hypocrites.

Coldharbor? Molag Bal's realm is basically a really f'ed up version of Nirn, a little like the evil Otherworld in the Silent Hill series.
Looks like a pocket of Coldharbour. I guess we see a vampire afterlife now.

'The sky is on fire,' I heard him say as he moved on to the next realm. 'The ground is sludge, but traversable. I see blackened ruins all around me, like a war was fought here in the distant past. The air is freezing. I cast blooms of warmth all around me, but it still feels like daggers of ice stabbing me in all directions.'

This was http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Planes_of_Oblivion#Molag_Bal.27s_Coldharbour, where http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Molag_Bal was Prince. It appeared to Zenas as if it were a future http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Nirn, under the King of [censored], desolate and barren, filled with suffering. I could hear Morian Zenas weep at the images he saw, and shiver at the sight of the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Imperial_Palace, spattered with blood and excrement. - The Doors of Oblivion

yeah, you can spot a Molag Bal shrine in the trailer (same part as the "official" capes, 0:25).

yea that's it. I just assumed it was a frozen wasteland because it had cold in the name lol. but yea, the reason I say that is because that looks very similar to something in the theives guild

It looks like the Dawnguard base will be somewhere in Falkreath, while the vampire one is somewhere in the Pale.
