Official Dawnguard Trailer is up

I'm loving the fact the vampires pop out of gargoyle like positions, will make dungeons a little more terrifying.

It looks like the Dawnguard base will be somewhere in Falkreath, while the vampire one is somewhere in the Pale.

I REALLY hope none of it takes place in that marshy region near Solitude. it's the only place on PC for me that still has absolute [censored] performance when it comes to FPS.

I'm wondering whether you have completed the main quest to start Dawguard or not, since the elder scroll seem to be a major quest item.

Looks like a pocket of Coldharbour. I guess we see a vampire afterlife now.
Could be possible, but is it just me or did the "otherworldly" parts of the trailer look like Cyrodiil? The little architecture I could see wasn't very Skyrim-like. Maybe there wil be a tie-in with the TESO storyline (Molag Bal trying and failing at dragging Nirn into Coldharbour).

yea that's it. I just assumed it was a frozen wasteland because it had cold in the name lol. but yea, the reason I say that is because that looks very similar to something in the theives guild
Spoiler
when you meet Nocturnal
I think the purple portal thing is the Skyrim alternative to Oblivion gates and indicates that you partially leave Nirn. Probably because most veteran Oblivion players will go on a killing spree if they ever see those damn gates again.

I'm wondering whether you have completed the main quest to start Dawguard or not, since the elder scroll seem to be a major quest item.
Probably just another scroll there. The only Expansion in TES that should have take place after the Main Quest was afaik Tribunal and even that one you could start at any time.

Thanks. SKyrim itself wasn't cliche, but it did use many things that were popularized today. Dragons, werewolves, vampires, elves. It's the generic fantasy, but Bethesda adds their own twist on things.

I noticed this too! Looks like we get involved with the Prince of [censored].

Molag bal D: But i still wonder who that vampire lord is. His armor is badass! and we returned his daughter?

I think he was, and then again I think he wasn't. Tamriel was born from D&D, in the same way that heavy metal sprang from Sabbath, Priest and Venom. In both cases everything that came after could be seen as cliche.

Dammit how do you get that apostrophe (I know thats not the actual name for it) above the 'e'...

HI there Bieltan!

Well, Skyrim didn't feel stereotypical to me. Shallow, certainly, but not a carbon paper copy. There is an awful lot we don't know about Dawnguard, but for now it does not look a full fledged cliché to me, even if the theme of vampire hunters vs vampires has matured into a full- fledged cliché for a decade now. Storytelling was rather weak in SKyrim. I was hoping they had learned their lesson and haven't given up on them in this department.

WOW!!! This DLC seems to be awesome!

But what's the deal with the diving dragon? Is it a new kind of dragon or is it just improved dragons or what?

But many others do.

You can always join the evil Dawnguard.

I think I pass on it. I am trying to save money to fly home to Vermont, for a couple of weeks, before the end of summer.

Looks like we get to go to Coldharbour and possibly Cyrodiil, does that mean the return of Daedroths? If not some other Daedra?.....

so...no new landmass, but a bunch of new locales?

sounds good to me (as long as, once again, it isn't anywhere near that marshy region outside of Solitude. I literally avoid that place like the plague. [censored] performance= 25 FPS).

Have to admit, I wasn't too excited to see it actually is about vampires... but it does look pretty good. I can trust Bethesda to get this right.

lol..now that I see where that Elder Scroll's location seems to be (near Solitude) I'm actually starting to believe they really are going to make the vampire side of things take place in the most unpleasant, unattractive and performance eating section of all of Skyrim (the dreaded MARSH).

Not sure if he is referring to the player character returning his daughter or simply talking to his daughter will have to wait and see :)

Given that ESO (yes, yes, curse MMOs and their evil spawn) will have Molag Bal as the primary antagonist, I think ES would be genius to center some DLC around it simply to create that connection point for the Skyrim (and potential ESO) player. I've personally never touched an MMO, but it would definitely be a draw if we saw some interesting sides of Molag Bal in Dawnguard, even if ESO is set a couple millenia before the events in Skyrim.

The more Bethesda touches on the Daedric Princes, the better.

Personally, I think that there is going to be a lot of stuff in the DLC that we have not heard about yet. I think that this trialer is just the tip of the iceberg. The way I see it is that, if there weren't other interesting things to discuss, they would have just held off until E3 next week and released the trailer then. The fact that they are throwing us a bone a few days in advance suggests that they have plenty more cards in their hand.
