Just go play some dead MMORPG if you want an online wasteland.

Beats me like a club, foot.

Yao Guai? Tough. Floaters? Frustrating. Sticky? Makes me commit suicide. The LAST thing I want is walking around trying to buy something merchants for some 13 year old moron to go 'LOLOLOLOL I BETAR DAN YU [censored]. I KIL YU WIT MAI FATMAN CUZ IT EXPLODE AND DAT MEN IT CUL'

It's best left to its current 'online elements' aka DLC packs.

On that note, if people decided to team, there would be that kid just taking forever to pick his VATS shots, while everybody else just stands there frozen just yelling at him.
How else would VATS work? the answer? It woulnd't.

For a bit I thought it might be a bit interesting to explore the wastes with just one other friend... but then I actually thought about it. It would be so immersion breaking. I'd just be talking to him about things that aren't in the game. Also, The engine isn't built for it and development would be gimped because of the addition of a purely unneeded feature.

Online is a horrible idea. It'd make the game feel cheap.

Something that would be cool though is if they add the Fable II thing were you can see the icons of other players in your area and trade equipment etc. Still even something as small as that would cheap the experience.

I'm normally with the NO crown on multiplayer, but wouldn't it be kind of cool if a friend could take over as one of your companions like in Fable II. VATS would be pretty confusing, but it still might be useful and fun.

the ONLY way i could ever see multiplayer working for fallout (other than the MMORPG that they're making) is if they use a system similar to what borderlands does. where you can join up and do missions with eachother but arent really against eachother. other than that i really wouldn't want to see multiplayer, i dont like the idea of it being competitve

I remember Saints Row 2 allowed players to pause the game during co-op, but I think you were also able to unpause them. Also, I believe the owner of the file the co-op was going on in was able to kick the other player if he was getting annoying. If it was implemented well (which is hard to be honest), then I wouldn't mind co-op with another player taking place of a companion or custom character that you can give equipment to. Also, I would try to find somebody that acts like they are in the wasteland with me. However, Fallout is most likely not the game for this. One thing that would be cool is if your stats are recorded online. For one example, this would be able to show your friends how many hours you wasted playing the game.

Spoiler
Those aren't hours wasted.

Exactly, I don't think anyone is suggesting PvP. Just a co-op multiplayer.

if your not interested in online , the simplest solution would be to not play the online portion . and stop pretending somebody forced you to read this. the drama you display for hamless text on your screen which happened as a result of you WILLINGLY clicking the subject.... realy immature . of course that doesnt really matter due to the anonymous nature of monikers right ??? have a good evening .

I really don't see any how any multi-player elements can be added to a game that crashed when there were too many explosions. It would freak out online. Maybe on later consoles but not the 360 or ps3. Fallout 3 was a brilliant game and I played it inside out, I enjoyed it very much as a single player game. They could do something like they did with red dead redemption, with the v.a.t.s system that is. But, yeah, a co-op with two people would be great. I think a co-op with 3 or 4 people would be taking the piss though.

Woah... No one here was insulting or acted in a trollish behavior. Just because we don't agree with you doesn't mean you have to act like that. Like said before, this is a forum and people have different opinions and they have just as much right to voice it as you.

Okay, well a few. But that's pretty mild behavior for a forum. Just ignore those kind of people. Noticed how I did as I didn't even remember they acted like that. :P

Do not understand why every game these days keeps trying to add this kind of stuff. Don't want to Steam chat, Vent chat, IM, Facebook, or anything else in my games. I just want to play them.

Well, like I said in my earlier post, it's not as simple as just not using it, because it would take away development time and resources from the base game for a feature that most people either don't care about or don't want. It's just not really that kind of game in the first place.

Don't blame it on the consoles blame it on the engine.

I played it when it first came out and I only played through once. On top of that my memory isn't the greatest so I really don't remember too much. I'm a big elder scrolls fan and when I saw bgs at the helm of fallout 3 I had to get it. Now with new vegas coming I'm really anticipating it and at the same time I'm trying to get more into the series as a whole. I've been reading up on all the games and learning about the lore and gameplay.
