fallout single player games do not need multiplayer. and they do have online functionality in terms of achievments/trophies and dlc.
i wish people would stop screaming for every single game to have multiplayer. it made bioshock 2 worse and shorter then it should have. in fact usually when a company says fine multiplayer, your game is getting shortened, in fact most games that get multiplayer get 2-4 maps and then they charge $10 for 2 more maps. and for this you get a much shorter single player game. I like games i can enjoy with depths and detail, bioshock 1 was nice and long. bioshock 2, by the time i left like i should be half way threw the game i was actualy at the end.

as for a fallout mmo, i belive a system like bordlerlands would be best, I don't like wow, i don't like grinding, and i really really don't like raids.

Like a few the most I would ever see working is a 2 player Co-op but even thats a stretch, so many ways to cheat and abuse would occur somehow or another and would 99% of the time break immersion. But I strongly believe in no multiplayer that would ruin the feel of this game to much.

Interesting. Never heard it even mentioned at all, either by gaming news or any guys on the internet. Wonder whether it'll be before or after Fallout 4.
I have a feeling that it'll be more of a smaller, stingy game, but I could be wrong. Not really interested in multiplayer Fallout anyway, but I'm sure that'd change once I saw some gameplay and heard some extra news.

You have high standards. I thought zero online elements was good enough.

achievments/trophies and dlc. thats the online component. online component doesn't just mean multiplayer, it could mean as little as stat tracking.

I friggin' hate MMOs and multiplayer games, so no, I don't think this game needs online. These days it's all multiplayer this and co-op that, but what about a good singleplayer game with a great story and narrative? I don't want other people in my game experience, it's like reading a book with someone constantly breathing down your neck and telling you to hold the page because they're not finished reading it. Well get your own damn book!

The main problem I've seen with games with co-op or multiplayer aspects is that adding them means that the devs have to take time away from the solo part of the game which more often than not means the finished game just isn't as good or full as it could have been without that online aspect being added to it.

One of the other problems if people can just jump into your game is that some may do so just to wreak havoc and spoil the game for you.

Agreed.

Leave online to other games, this series doesn't really need it. At all.

My sentiments exactly. Any semblance of immersion will be dead and gone with an online mode :(

What about wow?

I played that once for two weeks straight up to level 29, then I realized that it was the same thing over and over again. Go kill x number of this monster type, go fetch x horns, blah blah blah. WoW is nothing but grinding, there's no story whatsoever, all you do is grind your way from level 1 to level 80. And then there's the legion of irritating 16 year old bastards shouting OMFG every two seconds.

Honestly, the only MMO I have even the slightest interest in is the upcoming Star Wars The Old Republic, simply because there seems to be a good story/narrative involved, and the fact that you can solo the entire game. That and the fact that it's probably the only way we'll ever get our KotOR 3.
