opinions on dead money?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:12 am

I've really been enjoying it, up to entering the vault last night - I've lost count of the number of times the collar exploded or I was killed by the gas!

I felt pretty frustrated with it last night, as I couldn't work out where most of the speakers were! But I'll be having another go, as I'd hate to give up now.

(In any case, it will be a bit of a relief to get back to the Mojave, and I really miss ED-E, -And I'll be really p*ssed if I find he/she/it's turned hostile!)

Sums up my experience. I finally found a posted play through for that $&&¥#%€ vault and at least got by the open "Mario" game location with running, jumping, and a lot of reloading. I don't think I would have ever found that elusive second speaker that could be shot. I loved Dead Money right up to that last part.

There are about four speakers that can be shot; you need to not panic when your collar is beeping slowly if you know you can get to a safe area quickly. You just have to rotate around on the catwalk, sometimes in "danger zones", to find the one you can shoot. My first time through I just did some superleaping and got through that last area before the holograms; the second time I did it the smart way by taking out the speakers and shutting down the alarm.

I really didn't die that much because I was careful and always checked where my save zones were.

Well I'm sorry that I can't run out of an exploding hotel while my collar is about to explode while being over the wight limit with a time limit. If there is another way out that I haven't found out about, ("I've tried destroying all the turrets, destroying the generator. ect.) feel free to tell me about it in a PM.

You need to sneak out if you want more info or not i dont care just send me a pm

Once I found that speaker above the exit door at the top, I was fine. Before that was a lot of exploding and reloading.

I'm afraid I got stuck with the holographic security guards, and got so frustrated I decided it was no longer enjoyable, so I returned to the relative calm of the Mojave!

Why not? If I can't get past that part, then there's no point. Especially if I wasn't enjoying it.

I play Fallout because it's an RPG, not an obstacle cause!

Dude you cant handle a challenge. For one you can just run around them ok not that hard trust me. There needs to be some spice in the game ok bam they put some in. Why didnt you enjoy it because it was to hard for you

I can handle a challenge if I think it's fair and entertaining. I don't find having to do a lot by trial and error and reloading every 2 minutes particularly entertaining.

I was enjoying the game, despite some frustrating moments, up until I entered the vault.

And if I stopped playing it because it was too frustrating for me, then that makes sense (I'm not a masochist). I would probably have done it eventually, but I wanted to get back playing Fallout.

Some people like that kind of game play, others don't. And some of us don't find that sort of play easy or fun, at least not after a few hours of it. Everyone has their own skill level, so it's pointless to criticise somebody because they found something you found easy, too tough/irritating.

Besides, I'm an old man so cut me some slack!

I've been playing games since the early 8-bit games, and to be honest my reactions were never that quick. And Dead Money wasn't good for my blood pressure!

my sneak character usually keeps it around 60-75, mainly because the higher level you are, if the enemies are lower levels, then you get a sneak bonus, up to a 35 sneak bonus. vice versa if they are higher lvled.

My opinion is, don't buy it until they sort out the existing problems with New Vegas!
