Paarthunax - Slay him ? WHY would I do that ! did you ?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:14 am

so when this quest came up I obliterated Delphanie to the best of my ability (being on 360 and she being un kill able and all...)

and then walked away and did the rest of the main quest and Parthurnax is still alive some where

what would the reward for killing him have been ? other than shame ?

Yiou could recruit more blades and hunt dragons with them. Dunno why anyone would want to though.

I did, mostly because of the few extra quests you were able to get from the Blades. My first playthrough was about seeing as much content/story as possible. Later I will roleplay more specifically and most likely not kill him.

He is a Dragon.
He has been peaceful for about a minute in dragon years.
All depends if you think he will relapse or not

My main reason for slaying him is simple roleplaying..

I have a more sensitive side though. lol.. I'll make another character that doesn't do it.

I just noticed something new btw. The little girl Sissel in Rorikstead. She says she had dreams about a good dragon, who was old and grey. It must be a little hint about Paarth. And if Sissel thinks he's good, maybe I shouldn't disappoint her. heh

My character would never help the Blades, if Paarth is their enemy he is my friend

Which is better? To be born good? Or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?

He's the Yang to you Yin. You are a mortal bound to think and act like a dragon, he's a dragon trying to befriend mortals and act against his nature.

If you let him live, you preserve this kind of duality. If he dies, you are following your destiny. After all, the Dovahkiin is destruction itself. Both make sense RP wise, but None ofmy characters would kill him honestly.

My character was also trying to overcome her nature as a cruel, lying, cheating, sh*t, who screwed over the Thieves Guild, became Listener for the DB, and killed 1070 people in just over 200 game days. 23 of those were considered murders, but I'm sure that most of the 1070 considered themselves innocent victims.

So the question is this: what is the difference between Paarthurnax and Sonja other than race?

To become all self-righteous and kill him because he's "evil" would be hypocritical, don't you think?

So knowing that Delphine knows next to nothing about the Blades, and that she's even leading Esbern around by the nose, when I got The Fallen quest I did the civil war first. I never had to speak with the Blades again. In fact when I went back to Sky Haven after finishing the MQ everything in the temple was marked "Steal" so they're not exactly my friends now, but the temple also was empty. So I took a few souveniers, including my family tree (wouldn't want that to get out now), and information on the locations of dragons, and that Akaviri blade "Dragonblade" -- now in a display case.

why would you want to kill a peaceful dragon? I would never kill my bro! NEVER! We all have our past.

Paarthunax - lives

I would LOVE to send Delphine and Esbern straight to Sithis where they belong.

You have to decide whether you trust him or not.

As the last dragonborn, it's your duty to absorb every dragon's soul so they can never again be resurrected by Alduin to establish a new dragon tyranny. By not killing Paarthurnax, you're giving him the opportunity to wait until you die to dominate both dragons and mortals. He should be killed, it svcks but it's necessary.

I'm killing him because he tries to sound like the dragon from dragonheart and fails at it.

The moment that came up, I left the blades and never looked back. I could NEVER bring myself to kill Paarthunax.

and anyways, I am a reptile with the soul of a dragon. :) I am closer to Paarthunax than some measly humans. If Paarthy isn't trying to destroy the world or kill me, I will leave him be. Same with any dragon

I killed him on both characters, if there was some kind of reward for not killing him, that's what I would have done in a heartbeat, but alas, you need to kill him in order to progress with the Blades radient quests

I didn't kill him. I wouldn't EVER kill him, because the blades can go eat a sword. Of course, I won't ever do the MQ again, so it's not an issue for me.

Hon, this is a game world. It has no real "life" in the real world and real world issues. Don't go there. It's a game, and trying to make it a metaphor for the world we all actually live in is a very bad idea.

For the PC players...couldn't you make Delphine and Esbern non-essential, hostile to you, then spawn 5 friendly dragons there to kill them? That would be very satisfying

I dont kill him for a slew of reasons, not the least of which that the Blades have lost their grip on reality. But on a more basic note, Talos didnt, so why should I? I mean if Tiber Septim went to the Greybeards I am willing to bet that somewhere along the way he had a chat with Paarthunax, and if Tiber Septim didnt see a reason to kill him then that is good enough for me.

As soon as they told me they wanted him killed, I walked.

I had done their questline to that point. I had gotten them their old base. I had gotten them 3 followers. I had looked for dragons for them. I had done everything for them. They claimed they served me. Yet they wanted this. Hell, they even went to the peace conference when they weren't invited.

Nope, Not a Blade, anymore. But I'm not sure I want to kill them all (even if you can).
