Patch 1.02 does it even work?

Post » Thu Feb 17, 2011 2:25 pm

I have only heard negative things about patch 1.02 does anyone have anything good to say about it? And I refuse to download the new patch myself because the way it sounds its more of the same old buggy broken game it was on launch.Guess I won't find out til I try but don't see myself doing that anytime soon. I'll go play a game I know that isn't going to lock up and freeze constantly instead  Bethesda. Sorry for all the ranting/complaining but damn...

My wife at home downloaded and has been playing on it all day and she even mentioned that it is running smoother for her.

It still freezes once in a while, but a lot less than it did before.

I down loaded and installed the patch and still have the exact same problems, mainly the freezing continues in the same places as pre-patch and the game is still just a mess.

I just want to be able to play it for at least a couple hours smoothly. I don't mind voluntarily quitting every couple hours and then resuming play later to prevent crashes but the random crashes are ridiculous and I don't want to corrupt my system again from it. I remember pre-patch if your save file got to 7000mb your game would constantly crash and some places in general just made you crash. I know they fixed the strip black screen bug, however there was plenty of other places that would severely slowdown frame rates and some times completely crash if you went there. So, If that was for the most part fixed I would gladly go download the patch and play right meow!

froze on me within 5 minutes of playing, so i tried it again and teleported right away and it froze right away once i got to where i teleported to. So i uninstalled it and deleted everything and tried it again and froze on me same exact spot.

Damn, Well There is my answer I guess. Such a disappointment waited a month and half for this patch and it doesn't even work... Once again never thought I'd say this (said that three times today <_<) but, I don't know if I will buy from gamesas again. I can damn sure tell ya I wont buy another game from them if they keep using the same broken Havok & Gamebryo engines.

Still having an issue with companions, Specifically, Raul's quest. I was finally able to get Ranger Andy's trigger to work, but then when I went back to get Arcade Gannon again I couldn't re-recruit him. I then reverted to a previous save and did Arcade's stuff FIRST, so that I wouldn't have the dismissal issue. I then went back to get Raul and do his quest, but now discover (several hours of playtime later) that I can no longer trigger the Ranger Andy conversation. I have no idea what happened. Someone please help; I do not want to have to wait for an ADDITIONAL patch by Bethesda.

Their probably not going to release anymore patches I've lost trust in Bethesda. Wish they would just come out and admit some things all ready such as How the freezing issues cannot be fixed I find it odd that the most complained about issue in the game was not addressed in this patch. So either they can't fix it , They don't want to take the time to. Or the only other thing I can think of the crashing/freezing issue is so massive they're waiting to fix it with another patch but I doubt that. Is to much to ask for people to be honest these days? I guess so. I don't think I've ever even seen a post regarding the crashing/freezing issue addressed by a Bethesda employee.

Patch 1.02 downloaded fine. Started playing and to my surprise it stopped some of the little freeze hitches while walking only when I'm in a new area i get it and I haven't had a crash yet however that is not saying much considering my save file is only 2.5mb and i haven't even played a hour. So I'm not going to get all excited yet, but its starting to play more like fallout 3 so I'd say the patch helped some what but I'll find out if it truly helped if i make it passed 7mb without constant crashes then I'll take back what I said about Bethesda but I'll believe it when I see it.

I didn't really see the glitches and hard freezes until my save game hit 9MB - so, you should have plenty to do until you get there.

o.k. I downloaded and installed the patch and it didn't lock up everytime that I entered Quarry Junction but instead i got killed by the Alpha Deathclaw and it got stuck in the re-load screen I had to quit the game in order to get out of the load screen and it caused the console to reboot. Tried it 3 more times with the same results I even waited 15 minutes but it would not get past the load screen. it reloaded just fine before the patch. I quit playing because my controller died and needed to be charged so, i thought i woul check out the forums and see what everyone else was saying, and it appears that the patch does not address the main issue with the game.I had hoped the patch would fix the freeze issues but should have known because FO3 was never fixed, and New Vegas locks up so much more than FO3 ever did, it's almost unpayable and it's a shame because i really like the games, especially when you have so many hours invested. Has anyone thought about a class action lawsuit to stop game developers from releasing broken games? We as gamers are sick of shelling out our hard earned money, especially at $60 a pop ,for broken games that patches never fix.

Highest I ever got to was 7mb that was pre-patch 1.02. Game has been working pretty good so far with 1.02... lets see how long it lasts. I' have noticed that since i downloaded 1.02 When I reload my save, areas I've been to before there is no lag, hitching, or freezing what ever you desire to call it. pre 1.02 it had to reload the areas I have been to before. this must be that memory leak I've heard about? I don't know but. I know I complained about 1.02 a lot but hell seems to have worked so far.

That's my only issue with the game is the crashes requiring a hard-reboot of my PS3. The crashes seem to be far more prevalent in NV then in Fo3 I'd get a crash in Fo3 once every once in a while like a couple a month if that even with all DLC installed. I would have had a lot more crashes with NV but I quit playing. No crashes since I installed 1.02 though .

I have crashes, but since that this a issue since Fallout 3 (with all the patchs) i dont bother to complain with, at this moment i am in the strips, and the only problems that i see, is the audio desync, and some creeps spawning in the air, crashes YES, but less than before, on PC on the other hand, is buggy as hell, but no crashes, irony :P

Huh? I thought PC was supposed to be the best out of the three to have NV on. Honestly, I would rather have quest bugs then crashing its kind of silly though If you don't have quest bugs you crash so you can't play long enough to do the quests but if you have no crashes you still can't do the quests because they're bugged.

I can handle the game freezing occasionally -- just not every 10 minutes or less, as it is for me even after patch 1.02. Fallout 3 was no where near this bad.

I tried loading up earlier save games from before the every-10-minute-freeze started, and while they started off "okay", without fail the frequency of freezing increased back to every 10 minutes, which is the point I gave it up as a lost cause, at least until the next patch.

I know it svcks but try restarting your game completely or maybe even deleted reinstalling game data and if that doesn't work try getting rid of the corrupted data via the recovery menu. I haven't had any problems with 1.02. And I'll i did was get rid of the corrupted data.

every patch works just doesnt work for everyone of course there going to be something missing its not like there going to fix every single problem in one patch theres probably over 1000 glitches and bugs falllout wiki lists plenty

some people are unlucky some people play the game fine

My game totally freezes or stutters like you wouldn't believe whenever I get near Camp Forlon.. in fact I've just spent 25mins trying to get away from there.. it's a slideshow, it took 2mins for my pipboy to open and even then I couldn't do anything. I never got away, PS3 totally froze up - had to reset. I'm done for the night anyway.

It's annoying that's for sure.

Has your save file reached 7MB or larger, yet, after installing patch 1.02 and removing corrupted data? I never had a single freezing issue, pre- or post- any of the patches, until my save files reached 6.9 MB or larger, though maybe that's a coincidence and it's some other factor.

Anyone have an idea that say if I would start a new game, would the freezes stop, i think that it is worth a try cause it could be the saved data being bad.
