Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 2:43 am

There was another new thing added in the Quests in the Stats screen which is Dawnguard Quests completed. So yeah there it is, also will Bethesda be handing out the codes tomorrow for people that signed up for the Beta.

I'm reading at EuroGamer and I see this ?http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-06-08-skyrim-1-6-update-goes-live-on-xbox-360?
But not for PC? Have we not been beta testing this for a while now?

Perhaps I missed out on the announcement that all Skyrim patches will come out on Xbox 360 1 month before PC and PS3.
It's scary that this would not surprise me, "he he".

Now some people have said to me that those very few selected people playing on Xbox 360 needed this patch in order to beta test Dawnguard, but how would that make sense for the rest of the players on Xbox 360 that isn't beta testing Dawnguard, to recieve a patch that isn't complete, that could cause broken saves?! I don't think so! This patch has to be complete.

So I have no idea why this patch didn't get released for PC that have the most beta testers of them all, is just [censored] up.

Pc players get the exact same thing except for one bug fix tha has to do with the right bumper. It is not like the xbox players are gettin something better than the PC players (in regards to this specific update)

The only difference is one has the word beta on it : /

In fact PC players got it much earlier than xbox players... So what is the problem?

You lost me. PC players has not gotten the patch yet, it's still in beta and you should know there is risks by playing a beta patch.
So if we get back on track, this is about a finished patch for Xbox 360 that isn't out on PC yet, why is it not out on PC yet when the fixes is the same?

It is just as finished on PC as on 360. If you are worried about risks... Then back up your saves before you get it.

And believe me, the xbox 360 version of the patch isn't as "finished" as you think it is. My first experience with mounted combat launched me into orbit for no apparent reason.

"signing up" involves toggling a little switch in steam.

One that you can toggle back off if you end up not liking it :/

I'm just here to confirm dramatic performance loss again. I've reverted to 1.5.26, played for an hour or so, and the game performs perfectly. Things I've noticed with 1.6.87/1.6.89 performance wise:

- Got a huge negative impact on FPS in the starter dungeon. Lost measurable 12-15 FPS and sometimes up to 30 FPS, when looking into direction of the mama bear, I recal having similar issues in Oblivion, getting FPS drops when looking in certain directions.
- Massive delay in scripts, up to a point were scripts weren't performing anylonger. Script based follower hotkeys in my mod weren't responding. Follower commands weren't responding. Bandits in the wilds just standing around doing nothing. Conversations and scenes got delayed in some cases around Riverwood.
- Animations were laggy to a point were actors, when not having them in my eyesight, just interrupted their animation and once I turned to them, they just stood there doing nothing.
- Lots of glitches related to actors stuck inside certain furnitures.
- Game was often going into slow motion, just to go back to normal speed and then slow motion again. Felt totally unnatural and almost like the game was crashing every moment. Which fortunately it never did.

If this is going to stay like that for the next update, I'm in big trouble. Game felt horrible with that BETA patch.
Read above! And as I said, it's still in beta so PC has not yet recieved a complete patch that is finished.

Because there is no way to really give the people in the beta just the patch, they can do it with DLC because there are codes for DLC... but this isn't case with patches. Once they go live there for everyone.

Read above! And as I said, it's still in beta so PC has not yet recieved a complete patch that is finished.

Thus the point about making backups and turning off the beta if it ends up not working.

Plus, the example you provided me is someone using mods... Which commonly do not work well with updates.

But whatever, if the thought of copying a save into a different folder for five minutes horrifies you, I am not forcing you to do it.

The fact still remains that PC players have had access to horse combat for longer than Xbox players. They just have a choice whether to use the update or not.

I don't care about horse combat. I just asked why Bethesda release a finished patch for Xbox 360 while the same patch for PC isn't finished.
You can't answer this, I get that. But stop messing around with anything you can think of that has nothing to do with my question in the first place.

: / I didn't realise one word was reason to get into such a fuss...

I see now that nothing I can do will convince you there is no difference between them, so I won't try.
I think i will just let this thread cool off...

It's all to do with the beta, there is no real way to give the patch just to the beta testers.... I mean I guess they could have put the patch in with the DLC... but maybe MS said no to that or something cause that the only logical way to do it.

PC is likley still in beta because there still working out the kinks, 360 players have essentially all just became guinea pigs.

The patch goes to the xbox first because they need if to run the beta Dawnguard.

It's very likely the two patches are in the same state. They just haven't been willing to sign off on the PC version yet, either because there's a fix they haven't finished (unlikely), worry they may find a bug and be able to patch it quickly (very likely), or they know both versions have a bug(s) they can fix quickly (also likely). They had to send the 360 version of the patch in more quickly to ensure certification though. That could result in them making the PC version go live with no further changes or a PC version that's slightly different than the 360 version when it does go live.

Either way, I'm also certain the beta on PC hasn't been one, unchanging piece of code. I noticed Steam downloading updates for Skyrim yesterday. If the patch hasn't gone live then they were updating the beta.

The most annoying thing about this update is the fix for the "burnt" vampire face doesn't work anymore, so my character is stuck with what looks like a bunch of dirt on her face till further notice.
I'm having the same problem. You would think they would've fixed that since dawnguard has a lot of vampire content...
Hopefully that gets fixed next..

Interesting to see "Add-On" in the main menu now. Gets me pumped up for the DLC.

Tried horse combat for a bit and it works pretty smoothly. Took down a bear while circling and swinging my Dawnbreaker at it, lol. Pretty neat. I really like holding down the attack button and letting my sword swing once I reach an enemy. Feels like it should.

I've noticed I'm not getting a bounty when attacking guards from on horseback. Anyone else experiencing this? Apart from that, I'm liking mounted combat.

Edit: I'm on 360, by the way.

Found a small glitch. Unlocking a Falmer chest unlocks it fine, but then boots you out of the chest once it's unlocked, so you have to activate it again to go back into it to grab whatever items are inside.
