No Patch Yet but DLC avail 12/21

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:45 pm

It's kind of funny that the DLC is called " Dead Money" just like the money I spent buying Fallout NV. They also state " As the victim of a raw deal" Wow this totally sounds like my real world experience with New Vegas. The best part is that it only costs 800 MS points or $9.99, and maybe it's broken too!!!

It's funny how this was press released today 11/17/10 by Mr. Pete Hines VP of PR & Marketing, but we haven't heard any more news about the patch to fix the hundreds of problems in the game in 11 days.

Lol. I failed to make that comparison. Good one. :P

Still, I had this thought also. Sadly, all they can see is opportunities for £/$. And the thing is, regardless of how broken/buggy F:NV is there will no doubt be people purchasing this on release.

I'd have easily welcomed this in open arms if I had been able to actually start the game. I havn't bothered, no point in wasting time potentially in a game as expansive as this only to lose my progress toward achievements and whatever after a lot of hours. I suppose this is a blessing in disguise though, I'm sure everyone can remember The Pitt.

I'm gonna pass on the DLC until the game is fixed completely. It goes to show you that all this time they were working on a $10 DLC instead of fixing the $60 dollar issue. Way to really care about your customers.

Yeah, this really upset me, too. I've made 2 characters now, just to have their save files corrupted at the same exact part in the story. I'm not even going to touch NV again until I can actually play a character all the way through.

Not the kind of news I wanted to read about. Patch pwease?

I can't help but think they are having a ton of trouble with the fixes and that's why it's taking so long to come out with a patch. I imagine they solve one thing and causes another thing to break as poorly made as this game is. I fear I will never be able to enjoy this game the way it is meant to be played, (quests actually working).

LOL, that is really good! I say we boycott the first dlc. Pathetic that they work on something that makes them money, but won't work on something to make there existing product actually work.

Im glad to see this topic as i was ready to say the same myself.
Its a disgrace and a kick in the nuts to all the people having problems that a date is announced for dlc before the game is tidied up with a proper patch.
I can say for sure that i will get the dlc but i am very dissappointed in both companies for this and also making us pay for the dlc after all the hassle.
Hopefully the dlc will be better then the majority of dlc for fallout 3 and for the love of god the COMPREHENSIVE patch better be out before the dlc is released.

The high rollers at these two companies are the real gangsters!

I say 'do not touch this DLC'.

Any person who is not happy with the quality of their original game should not even be thinking of handing these jokers any more of their hard earned cash.

Lets face it, there is a possibility that it'll screw your game up, even if you can get it to work.
You're just asking for trouble if you buy this.

What they where really thinking:

Fallout New Vegas
New Vegas DLC Announced!

On December 21st, the first downloadable content for Fallout?: New Vegas?, Dead Money, will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE?. "Someone has to be the guinea pig, let it be the ones who pay for their service"

As the victim of a raw deal"Pun intended" you must work alongside three other captured wastelanders to recover the legendary treasure of the Sierra Madre Casino. In Dead Money "What your copy of Fallout New Vegas has become", your life hangs in the balance as you face new terrain "More Fallout 3 cut and paste plus the Obsidian favourite of invisible walls", foes, and choices. It is up to you how you play your cards in the quest to survive. "Survive the DLC without running into a choice that will bug your game / save"

Dead Money will be available for 800 Microsoft Points."I wish we had the tenacity of Activision to charge 1200, well maybe next time im sure there will be enough idiots out there"

i think their priorities are seriously screwed up..this move really makes them look greedy all i see is they are more interested in trying to make more money than appeasing the ppl that got hosed..im not asking for free dlc..i understand that microsoft paid them for the exclusivity of this dlc so microsoft might not let them give it away for any reason..it just irks me that they can sit on top of the pile of money the made off of us and not even say something about the fact the games in the shape it in..like if they dont talk about it or ignore it its gonna go away..they are so busy blowing sunshine up their own asses about how great the game is and how much money they made off it..

but yeah im not buyin any dlc untill i feel better about the whole situation and i feel secure that the game and the dlc are gonna work like its supposed to..my thing is i know the dlc is going to be in the same shape or worse shape than the game was...

if i recall, the DLC for FO3 had some incredibly awful bugs, including destroying your save file. unless the first one is free, i'll be staying away from all the FO:NV DLC for quite a while. i see no reason to give them more of my money for broken software. and i won't be buying whatever the next FO game is until the GOTY edition. this is ridiculous. the game came out over a month ago, and we still cannot play it.

for shame.

Meh, aggravating to say the least :(

Yet I truly expected this morass of bugginess from Obsidian... And I kick myself for breaking my boycott of their studio after what they did to the NWN and Kotor franchises.

Bethesda/Obs:

Hey we got your 60 clams for a game that doesn't work!

Now cough up some more dosh for more buggy crap.

Patch!?! What patch?! There is no money in writing some stupid patch, then giving it away for FREE!

We are here to make money, not friends. Gimme Gimme Gimme! Chumps!

i'm getting impatient...it's been long enough

i was willing to cut bethesda and obsidian slack before...i love their games and i couldn't bring myself to be mad at the creators of the original 2 fallouts....

but if the DLC comes out before the patch, well thats gonna piss me off a little bit.

Meh, I'll be getting this DLC on day 1. I love New Vegas much more than Fallout 3. I haven't had a single game breaking glitch or corrupted saves. Guess I've just been lucky.
Still looking forward to the patch, for the new features, that should be coming out soon.

If this DLC comes out any sooner than all the serious glitches are fixed, then I will boycott Obsidian/Bethesda.

The epic fail of this release will come back to haunt Bethesda when ESV shows up.

For the NV DLC. Not even going to touch it, or any follow up DLCs, until the base game is patched to an acceptable level of quality.

Just from the story I don't know if I'll get the first DLC, I'll wait for proper reviews (nothing from the whiners on this board), from the write up it doesn't sound like it'll even be as big as the Mothership Zeta DLC for FO3, but we'll see. But yeah, my game works perfectly fine (for the most part, no disastrous glitches anyway)

As for the patch, it sounds like it'll more than likely be out before the DLC. I've said this same thing before here (but it's clear no one reads threads anyway since the same ones pop up daily) but you were going to spend $60 on this game anyway if it worked. Put it on the shelf for the time being, pretend like it wasn't released yet, play something else, and wait for the patch. Crying about it solves nothing, being bitter solves nothing. It was a false start, they released the game too early, and they're fixing it. If they were charging extra for the patch, I could understand the complaints, but you'll eventually get what you paid for, so calm down.

definetely gotta fix the broken game before releasing dlc. its funny that we have a release date for the dlc but no release for the patch. its been a month since the release of the game and we are still waiting. i think bethesda is behind this dlc so it may be good but the fact that the obsidian glitches still exist really turns me off. i put NV down weeks ago and havent looked back. i implore gamers who have had issues with NV not to buy the DLC on launch, we have to let em know that its not okay to release an unfinished game
