Pets as companions please

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 5:03 pm

If they're going to add a new animal companion then it should be anything but a dog.
Wouldn't mind myself a stealthboy eating Nightstalker as a companion.
Would make a great team with Lily.

Oh? Sorry, I'm not up on FO history. Panthers aren't domestic, but yeah, even in the real world most big cats are probably going to disappear even w/out an apocalypse. ::sadpanda::
A mutated animal that looks a bit cat-like, then. It can walk upright even. I just want something besides a dog-like creature. I don't think I want a gecko either. I might take a molerat like Snuffles....

In Fallout 2 http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Stacy reveals what happened to felines in the wasteland.

Sad sad story..

Why would big cats disapear?

There just as likely as cows to dissapear but cows didnt. I dont understand teh whole cats are extinct thing. Yah they are easy to domesticate and so are cows and dogs. But dogs adn cows were domesticated and are not extinct. It just does not make sense.

Yes cows and dogs where domesticated. Before pre-history. Domesticating an animal means to over the generations snuff their natural instincts. Dogs where wolves ten thousand years ago. What cows where I have no idea. Pigs where boars I think. Try going out and domesticate a boar.

Edit: The reason that domestic cats are extinct is that they served no practical use. Cows you could breed and get more food from. Dogs could help you hunt and track stuff. Cats where just easy prey so people ate them.

No no no. It was one of the townspeople who ate it. Stacy's mother kept an eye on the cat so the townspeople wouldn't get it. Sadly they did

1. Cats do serve a practical purpose. They keep vermin under control. One of the causes of the Black Plague was cats being killed off and letting flea-bearing rats run wild.

2. You'd be surprised how quickly "domestic" animals return to being feral. Within one to two generations, all that careful breeding and training is long gone. Cats as pets may be extinct, but the entire species? Doesn't make sense. We probably just don't see them, same as squirrels (which we know still exist from how often we find them on sticks or in stew).

1. While true the holocaust more or less rid the planet of the vermin or evolved them to the point which cats are just ineffective.

2. That was kinda my point. And that what was I said to. Twice. Domesticated cats are extinct on the north American continent. Big cats like mountain lions might still be alive if they where lucky enough to evolve as well or maintain a food source of some kind.

Can u add something like pets in the game . . I would love just a legion dog instead of Rex . . Rex is good but if like a regular animal or heck even free pets from eggs like on the mod for the Viable Deathclaw Egg. I want some new secondaries instead of all robot based ones . . And yes Rex is a robot cause he's more metal than flesh

rex was a legion dog

No,No Deathclaws are a good one.
did the Enclave in fa3 have them with control bands.......and if you have it as a pet and the control band gets blocked, it loses control and starts killing
everything in sight......

I agree. Pets would be nice. Rex is nice but variety is always good. :)

A Deathclaw would be cool. We could also domesticate Brahmin as our own and dump all our supplies into them. Of course though there's a limit to how much they can carry and they are pretty weak as well. They also can't come in interiors with you (too big).
Also: Nightstalkers!

Modern cows are descended from aurochs. 6'6" at the shoulder, 2200lbs, big horns. You wouldn't want to tangle with them.

I don't get it... it seems really rather poorly thought out.

Dogs and cows are indeed very domesticated, and whilst useful, would have trouble surviving in the wild (dogs do it better though). Cats, even your domestic cat, does just fine in the wild. Feral cats are a huge problem when it comes to killing native animals. No logical reason for them to have died out.

Do we really know that cats have died out? Or do we only really know that people in the parts of the Fallout world we've actually seen believe them to have died out? Even in the modern world, species thought extinct pop up again from time to time.

Even if they do exist at some place what reason would there be to add them into the series at this point?
Better to just let them be "extinct".

Or Sims, that has some epic pet-awesomeness too!

Standard breed of farm cat would do fine. Other special breeds not so much. But that goes for dogs as well

But still . . Id love to have some kinds of pets, not like deathclaw as they are not technically an animal anymore in my opinion as they are semiintellegent and hunt in packs and such but just more like dogs, wolfs, coyotes and such or even a Snuffles the Mole rat type deal lol . . Sniffle is cute that u gotta admit lol

Actually... there are cases of talking deathclaws! Along with hairy ones too...

edit: Also, remember THERE ARE NO CATS LEFT! Except for the one Mr.House supposedly has. Oops my bad, he doesn't, however in Fallout 2 I remember Stacy saying she had one as a kid, but he got killed for food. On another note, the last known living cat in america was killed in Fallout: BoS if you consider it canon, which I don't, but who knows.

Neither Black Isle, Interpaly, Bethesda, Obsidian, Zenimax nor The Vault consider Fallout: PoS canon.

Tactics have some things that are canon IIRC
