Is it a good thing I voted 8+ times for all the polls that asked... I thought at first its probably my computer but you guys are experiencing these glitches as well? Also am I the only one who has to play in window mode because of sound issues?

Only sound issues I have are from npcs not delivering the last line of their dialogue sometimes but I don't have a fancy sound card or special software so that's probably what's saving me there, lol.

I don't want to be off topic but couldn't they just add an 2 inventories and 1 is for equiping items and the other is for storing items. I'm talking about companions btw.

I love the game but man I had every thing happen to me minus Savegame-files getting corrupted.
Npcs glitching, companions loosing items, every day my game freezes at least 3-4 times and usually a LOT more than that, reload bug etc etc etc.
If i had this experience on any other system than the PC where I don't have console commands I prob would have been forced to stop playing the game because of all the mess.

Oh btw you forgot to add Companions randomly disappearing even though you leave them on follow.

Crashing:
No problems for first 20 hours. Only two crashes between 20-30 hours. Crash frequency increases steadily beyond 30 hours. At 69 hours, I now have a 75% chance of crash on entering a new cell, outdoors or indoors. All troubleshooting methods have failed miserably. Game unplayable.

How many manual game saves do you have? I had this problem once I hit about 20 separate game saves so I decided to take a lot of the saves and just backed them up in an external harddrive. It helped a lot even though I still have a lot of problems with the game crashing on me randomly.

2.1 GB worth living on an external harddrive. Only my most recent two saves living in my saves folder. No autosaves and no overwrites.

Dang then I honestly have no clue why you would begin to crash so often later into playing the game. I myself have a problem with crashes where one time I loaded up the game walked 3 steps and crashed again. Opened up the game walked in a different direction about 10 steps and crashed again. I got so frustrated that I wasn't making progress that the minute the game opened up I manual saved over my last save (do NOT make a new game save it seems to only makes things worse) and for some reason it seemed to help. I just kept on saving manually over the same set of 6 original game saves (I cycled between the six) every few minutes. After doing that a few times my game seemed to stabilize. Maybe you can try doing that?

That isn't the purpose of this thread. I'm just trying to get numbers, not gather proof of some corporate conspiracy to rob gamers of their money (those are called MMOs).

To be a conspiracy, one of the elements has to be that it is a secret.

I can assure you, the epic failure and overwhelming number of bugs and complaints eradicates any possibility of secrecy. LOL

Im on the 360. The Main minor bugs Ive had is the PCs arms being held above his head while sneaking in first person, and the whole gun not responding thing. Its only crashed on me once or twice after long sessions.

Im not sure if this is a bug or was intended but my rep with certain factions keeps resetting to neutral

Spoiler
I busted into the fort and killed caeser and Im neutral with CL meanwhile I've done tons of quests for the NCR and they're just "meh".

only seems to happen with major factions

Most of theses are just minor annoyances (The game crashing just tells me I've been playing to long and need to get outside :) )

I'm playing PS3 (will switch to PC when I deem it safe enough). 80 hours in, at level 17. Have not entered Vegas.

No real major problems. A few annoying problems.

The most frequent - VATS not working, has happened approx 9 or 10 times. Usually not a big problem, but has caused me to reload a few times.

I do have to keep a close "eye" on companions. Occasionally they simply stop following. I go back, tell them to wait, then tell them to follow, that usually fixes the problem.

When I first started the game I had several freezes, then I went several hours (real hours) of gaming before having another. Just recently I came across the NPR camp (where you catch the guy stealing med supplies), and have had several (approx 3 or 4) freezes. I've had about 7 or 8 freezes since starting the game, at least 3 from the location described above.

FO3 taught me to save often. But I have to say...my time (as is yours) is very precious. When I have to replay/go back, I'm not a happy camper.

As-far-as comparing this game to FO3, I believe when FO3 first came out, there were just as many complaints. I could be wrong, as I didn't start playing until at least a year had passed from initial release. Hey maybe that's the problem - I need to wait one year before trying to play...that speaks volumes!

All-in-all I'm not dissapointed. - But I'm not blown away either.

I taught i might put this on here, since i have never posted what bugs or glitches i have experienced before. (I try to be positive :tops:)

I have had the following Bugs/Glitches (Xbox360 user)

1. NPC/Companions fall or glitch into ground or map.

2. Choosing to side one way on a certain quest and no matter the choice's i make, the outcome is different than what it should be.

3. At least 6 corrupted saved data files, always after i downloaded the patch. (The bug that says DLC no longer available, DLC Required to load saved data.) The DLC i have is the mercenary map pack pre-order from best buy. I have since made a new game (Without the patch and DLC content on my drive.) and have finished it. I notice the corrupted data was caused when i downloaded the patch, i tested this 5 times. I was also asked by Gstaff to send in a 512MB memory card with my Non-corrupted data and corrupted data 2-3 weeks ago, which i did and he said it helped. I see this specific problem occurring mostly to xbox360 and PS3 users, not PC.

4.Weight problems with items, stacking items and quest items.

5. Specific quest that bug when choosing certain choices, quest such as Aba Daba Honeymoon, The Papa Khan quest. (Mostly NRC and Strip quest.)

6. VATS freezing up,Weapons freezing up.

Hopefully this all gets fixed to the best of the company's ability and this great game is playable to its full extent. :fallout:

I'm not into believing that a company like Bethesda or Obsidian would intentionally release a shoddy product. The problem with these types of games is that there are so many variables that it's hard to find every mistake that can arise. Not to mention that the game was released for three different platforms. All I want to do is make the problems known (some people have more problems than others). Certainly someone can take this information and use it to bash the developers, but that wasn't my intent.

If you're frustrated with the game, I can understand that but in order to get a good sample size (the current number of players who submitted their experience in the poll is minuscule right now) the people who post in this thread need to do the best to avoid drawing moderators to it and getting it shut down.

Hence the rules I asked people to abide by.

Since I've started playing I've had the following issues:

minor: 2 sidequests jumped ahead while I was doing other unrelated quests.
Crashes: I've had 2 crashes to desktop and 1 time the game just froze.
Other: This one time I fell through a rock and then was stuck underneath it. Three times or so, I got stuck in the terrain, usually while standing on top of something and then getting stuck between it and the ceiling. When it happens inside I have to reload, otherwise fast travel works.

For the game being new I found this acceptable. It certainly hasn't stopped me from enjoying the game so far.

Poll Form Edited:

"Companion Losing Items (Not dropped, just gone)" option edited to "Companion Bugs (losing items/companion disappearing altogether)".

"Weapon Malfunction (won't fire/reload/repair)" option edited to "Combat malfunction (weapon won't fire/reload/repair, V.A.T.S. malfunctions)"

I changed them to include more options. I will add more options if I see more than one report of a bug or malfunction.

Thank you for the feedback!

The only problem I have had is at the hands of one of those unlimited companion mods, every time i have 3 human followers + ED-E or more I get a crash or game not responding and never when I have fewer so I am left to assume its not part of the game but the third party mod being all glitchy or something. Other then that no problem since day one on the PC no bugs glitches or even a crash without mods.

I feel bad for the people on the 360 and the ps3 for all the problems they are having =( hope your guy's adventures stop freezing and crashing of the sort and happy fire gecko hunting!

Oh yeah, I forgot one thing that's really anoying. But I'm not sure if it's a bug, an oversight, a badly implemented feature or what.

Companion A.I. : The first time through the game I was playing hardcoe mode. All of it was fun except for the companions dying, because it was really impossible to keep them alive. They were always set to passive, which the manual advertised as a mode in which they would only attack something if I attacked it first, or if it attacked me first. Instead they just keep attacking anything they see. For a melee companion that's disastrous. When inside a building, companions would run away, opening doors, climbing stairs, etc to get to enemies that popped up on my radar (or theirs). That gave me no choice but to run after them or they die. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that.

I play on the 360... I appreciate the sympathy. In all fairness to the developers however, the only times my game has crashed (three times), they were the result of playing too long. That is I suppose one of the problems of this poll though. There's no way I can rule out what is an ID10T error, hardware error, or an actual bug in the software. Nevertheless the numbers will give a fairly accurate depiction of what we're experiencing as the Fallout: New Vegas gaming community, so I'd like to get a good sample group (more than 100; ideally around 500).

I'd just like to say as well, I appreciate the feedback so far, especially for how tame it has been. The longer we can keep this thread open and taking in numbers, the more accurate it will be regarding the bugs in the game. Perhaps that will give the developers a better idea of what problems to approach and how, resulting in patches that are released quicker and are more extensive in how much they fix.

@Yaeri - That doesn't sound so much like a bug. I've had that problem before. It's just poor companion AI. It's definitely annoying nonetheless.

I agree, thats why i posted only the problems i had hoping my info would be helpful to others and even stated the game is great, i just hope i can soon play it to its full extent. Also moderators should not shut this down for throwing our opinions out there unless we are cursing at them and such.

I know that they wouldn't do that but I've seen some threads shut down for similar reasons. This is kinda my forum pet project, which is why I'm being extra careful :whistling:

Invisible terrain (seen only once)
NPC stuck in rocks (not very often)
Entering VATS sometimes has 5-10 seconds delay if NPC is in close range (fairly often)
NPCs running in a weird position like leaning on their back (fairly often)

Most of the bugs I've had relate to the level not loading properly, companions ignoring the companion wheel commands and a ton of carryovers from 3. Oh, and no save corruption, but Steam Cloud did munch my autosaves.

ps3 version here

- game ran pretty stable at the beginning, but the freeze rate has increased to about 1 freeze per hour now (about 60h into the game)
- picking up fully repaired weapons often makes them disappear in my inventory, while their weight is still factored in
- had to glitch out q35 by the use of dynamite (at least, it worked^^)
- the frequent VATS malfunctions whenever it's getting tough are REALLY annoying
- couldn't untie a certain npc where i definitely should have been able to
- can't get rid of certain quest items, although i completed them

these are my observations so far.
here's pretty glad that at least my savefiles are not getting eaten :)
i enjoy the game immensely, but the increasing number of freezes and VATS bugs start to take a chunk away from the fun by now

Bugs on PC version

- Unplayable lag in combat (fixed with .dll hack)
- Creatures/NPCs get stuck in environment (frequent, also in FO3)
- Non-responsive trigger/VATS/Pip-Boy (frequent)
- Invisible terrain blocks bullets, e.g. when shooting near a rock (frequent)
- Poor hitbox detection on evolved centaurs and nightstalkers (frequent)
- Companions getting stuck on low ceilings (rare)
- NPCs freaking out for no reason and running away (rare)
- NPC text doesn't match voiceover (rare)
- Plot triggers don't fire, e.g. Neil (rare)

Design flaws (I know this is a bug thread, but these are still problematic)

- Plot items not disappearing
- Wasteland enemy spawn points near building entrance/exits (walking outside to have 6 cazadors in your face caused my last rage quit)
- Can't interrupt weapon reload (why can't I shoot my cowboy repeater after loading 1 bullet?)
- Enemies wander aimlessly when being sniped, rather than taking cover
- Too many invisible walls

Only a few minor bugs, like my hand-fed weapons disabling me for a few seconds after reload. Or my companion disappearing then reappearing hours later. I've had no crashes or freezes and no save game corrupts.
