A Poll On Fallout: New Vegas

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:47 am

I really haven't had any problems but many have. I wanted to make this poll to get a good idea of the proportion of those that have actually had problems and those who haven't.

If you must post here, please do the following.
Some Rules

1. Keep the posts relevant to the discussion.

2. If you have a problem you would like added to the poll options, please vote after it is added, not before.

3. If you post; please avoid name-calling, flaming, swearing, or any other action that might bring the moderators to close the thread. I want to get a decent poll with a good sample group.

4. Do not use this as a thread to claim Fallout X is better than Fallout Y. That's not the point of this.

5. Please be honest.

6. If you play on the PC, please do not include problems you've had as a result of the latest patch. I know it pretty much broke the game and so did the developers. The point of this poll is to establish a good sample group of how many problems players are having as a result of the released game, not the patch's changes.

Purpose For The Poll

Judging how the moderators and developer seems to be pretty active in this forum, this might give Bethesda/Obsidian a better example of how to look at those that are playing Fallout: New Vegas. Granted that's a very optimistic outlook on the matter but I'd like to give them an opportunity to see for sure how things look on our end.

Cheers! :foodndrink:

Added/Modified Poll Options:

Poll Form Edited:

"Other- See Post" and "None of these" options added.

"Companion Losing Items (Not dropped, just gone)" option added.

"Companion Losing Items (Not dropped, just gone)" option edited to "Companion Bugs (losing items/companion disappearing altogether)".

"Weapon Malfunction (won't fire/reload/repair)" option edited to "Combat malfunction (weapon won't fire/reload/repair, V.A.T.S. malfunctions)"

"What platform do you play on?" poll question added. This should give a better idea of how to interpret the numbers.

The last question needs a "none of these" option, I think. I can't vote because none of the items in the last one apply to me.

This...

Besides that, I've had no freezes, and maybe 3 crashes. Very little minor bugs, less than 5.

I agree. There should be an "Other—See posted comment" or similar. Then the OP could get an idea of additional problems or catagories of problems and add them.

You could then remove your vote and re-vote.

About 40% of the time I use VATS the game freezes so badly that I have to restart my computer. At first it would freeze then go to the BSOD and restart automatically, but now it just freezes. Oh, and a few minor problems with reloading/firing a shotgun. Other than the major VATS problem the game runs fine.

I haven't played with the new patch yet.

There we go...thanks Falcon.

I've only had a few freezes, no savegame corruption, etc. I've had a couple of minor quests glitch, like
Spoiler
the Nightkin killing Brahmin in Novac glitching so I can't complete the quest
, but they were very minor. Other than that, I've had companions stop following me a couple of times, and one time they got stuck in
Spoiler
the Bootlegger's Beer Brewery
and I had to re-load a save and leave them outside next time.

Overall there have been a few annoyances, but so far it's not buggier for me than FO3 was, which is decent.

Voted, mostly for me the issues have been minor and not stopped me playing the game.

I have had alot of minor issues with Merchants not restocking (especially the Gun Runners), my weapons absolutely refusing to fire (after reloading it took a whole 10 seconds for my Assault Carbine to continue firing, which resulted in me being killed because I could not switch weapons), and a few other things. The game has only froze on me once though. I had some problems with random NCR troops being hostile also, despite me being liked by the NCR and I haven't done anything to provoke the hostile NCR troops (they don't attack me either).

A particularly annoying bug I've experienced many, many times is what I suppose would be described as "weapon malfunction".
The game will "lag", and my weapon won't fire when I pull the trigger, or enter VATS when I press the right bumper.
Then after a few moments, it will finally respond and carry out the action. The rest of the game doesn't freeze during that time, just that one variety of input.
It's awful, because the fight will still be raging around me, and I'll be completely stripped of my offensive capabilities.

I keep having a problem with really non-responsive controls and it gets me hit a lot. Having to press the button multiple times to enter VATS, bring up the Pip-Boy or draw my weapon is a real pain.

Another bug I experiance is falling through the floor near qaurry junction and the subway near Nellis AFB.
EDIT: Forgot to add that somesitmes while in VATS my character wont shoot after assingning points to bodyparts. Resulting in whatever I was trying to kill in VATS getting a free kill on me.

Wait there are rules?!?!?! There are no rules on the Internet. Well, that people follow anyway.

Could you add in, Companions eating stuff put in their inventory, I don't mean food, I mean armor.

What kind of armour was it? If it was something like giving legion armour to Boone he will just drop it on the ground instead of equiping it. Is this what you mean by eating the armour?

I've had 5 CTD's, 3 on PS3, 2 on PC
Sometimes enemies get stuck in the enviornment
If it counts, the Lever-Action reload bug (It happens to everyone)
My brother has hostile NCR, even though he doesn't have negative reputation
The SPECIAL machine in the tutorial can only be used with the arrow keys, I can't click to continue.

I'm probabaly forgetting things, these are the only things that come to mind at the moment.

I've only had it occur with ED-E and I have had armor just poof away. I know that companions have dislike for certain types and won't carry it. I don't mean specifically faction armor, I had Grimy Pre-war Business Wear go away.

Ok so first of all I want to say I love this game. It seems to have many bugs but none of them have been gamebreaking for me.

So for minor bugs I have had many. 2 minor NPCs were not to be found in my game through all three of my playthroughs. Veronica has glitch at end of her quest. A few vendors don't restock. And some more but not gonna list them all.

My game has crashed once and frozen 4 times.

My saves have never been corrupted.

I own it on the PS3.

I know there are no rules on the internets but there are in this thread!

Seriously though. I only added rules because I wanted this to be a pure information poll. I didn't want this boiling over into a flame war or another "Fallout: New Vegas svckzorz!" thread. This way we can get a good idea of how many people are having problems; and if that's the case, what problems specifically. It's definitely better than having a ton of bug threads.

Let's keep this up. I'm hoping for a big total poll number!

It's the radio bug that saddens me most -- where the music is over-quiet and the DJ over-loud -- because that's not an incident that happens x number of times, it's a constant, persistent glitch. Mojave's still listenable, but the rest I almost never hear. :(

Bugs: I've experienced alot of bugs, ranging from items disappearing when stacking in containers to companions coming up missing. 8 or more on that one.

Freezing: I've had alot of freezes, generally when playing for a long time and not clearing the hard drive cache on the 360. Also had a glich where simply trying to open a container in the Lucky 38 while holding boxing tape in my inventory caused the game to consistantly freeze.

Save game corruption: Thankfully I've never experienced this one. I've put somewhere close to a hundred hours into this game now without this happening, lucky I guess.

Minor issues:
Some vendors takes weeks to restock. Chet and the guy at the Crimson Caravan are the worst in my game.
Companions randomly stop following. Sometimes when I backtrack to find them, they think they're set to Wait and other times they still think they're following me. I've given up on them. If they make it, fine. If they stay stuck, that's fine too.
Rex falls through the ground, gets stuck inside rocks, wedges himself inside cabinets.
Item stacking. Often am surprised when putting weapons away to discover I actually had two or three of the same item.

Crashing:
No problems for first 20 hours. Only two crashes between 20-30 hours. Crash frequency increases steadily beyond 30 hours. At 69 hours, I now have a 75% chance of crash on entering a new cell, outdoors or indoors. All troubleshooting methods have failed miserably. Game unplayable.

Is it a good thing I voted 8+ times for all the polls that asked... I thought at first its probably my computer but you guys are experiencing these glitches as well? Also am I the only one who has to play in window mode because of sound issues?
