Unless you character's mother was a seeress or visited one whilst pregnant?

Or perhaps she did it just for a http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/11/17/little-baby-dovahkiin-is-born-parents-win-skyrim-naming-contest.aspx?

But seriously naming your character Dovahkiin in Skyrim is a brilliant idea just like naming your character Outlander in Morrowind, that way everyone refers to you by name.

I can't post my nords name because he has a diaeresis mark above a letter and the name doesn't look right without it. My other names aren't as cool but i'll share:
Maleficus- altmer mage that i RP as a altmer-dunmer hybrid evil wizard who seeks all knowledge and destroys all in his path
Elderon-wise ancient altmer who's been around since before morrowind
Ra'Khan-tiger like khajit warrior who prefers to use his hands to tear apart his foes
Valeria-female nord warrior inspired by the 1st. conan
Bambatar-male redguard also borrowed from conan
Grogg go-bash..badass dual weilding mace orc

I use my own name.

Using your name is creepy sometimes, especially when you kill an assassin and his note instructs him to kill YOU!

But it is immersive.

I do like seeing my pc's name on those assassination notes. He feels flattered that people fear him so much as to send countless assassins after him, all who fail miserably.

I have a Nord warrior named Kaidan. The name is from Mass Effect and it stuck (also used the name for characters in Dragon Age and DA2), though my Nord has yet to space travel. He's currently wearing a set of dragonbone armor, though may switch to dragonskin or daedric at some point. He also uses a daedric sword and uses alchemy and archery to compliment sword+shield in combat.

There was a prize? Perfectly reasonable then.

I don't know if having everyone refer to you as that name makes sense to me personally since you aren't immediately aware of being Dovahkiin and not everyone will immediately know that you are. Each to their own, I just think it's a terrible idea. Unless the seeress thing happened. *shrugs*

WAIT! I just properly looked at that link and saw that it's an actual baby human that's been given the name Dohvakiin! Oh my God, how absolutely awesome but also somewhat worrying. Oh well, if he gets picked on in the playground he can just shout out an unrelenting force on his foes.

Well, my first Skyrim, a sneaky but tough dual wielding Khajiit, was aptly named "Turija" after my mage's Osprey familiar from my high school dungeons and dragons game back in the 1980s. I am pretty sure I invented that name myself way back when, and I am proud of it since I usually have a hard time coming up with original names. Sounded like a good name for a Khajiit so I went for it.

I have another Khajiit named Surija (cousin of Turija focusing on archery instead of blades), a Nord warrior named Nigel Whitemane (roleplaying him as Kodlak's headstrong nephew) and an Altmer mage named Xeledon.

My latest character is a Dunmer nightblade named Divayth Nyr. He is named after the infamous 4,000 year old mage (told you I was not very good at inventing original names), but my Dunmer's family hails from the mythical (mythical because I invented it) Telvanni tower of Fel Nyr. I am roleplaying him to be what I imagine Divayth Fyr might have been like when he was just starting out in the world. Like his namesake, my Dunmer wears heavy armor with no helmet but he uses only bound weapons.

I am told that you can actually do that! I was getting beers last night and there was this guy who is really into martial arts, mostly Kung Fu, and he was explaining to me how he can knock people back with the power of his voice, and I am like "Whoa! You must be the Dragonborn." But he had never heard of Skyrim and when he tried to use his Kung Fu voice on me in the parking lot it unfortunately did not knock be backwards. It was very loud though.

Haha, wonderful. I am assuming that the Kung Fu voice works because it takes your opponent by surprise. If someone I was fighting suddenly roared at me I'd probably fall on my ass. Then again, I am a wuss!

It's much more effective after lots of beers, but the trick is to drink yourself silly and yell without throwing up. The smell of the alcohol should be enough to knock someone on their ass.
