I have a little something for you, DarN.

Usually in the default HUD, when you wear a disguise, little messages will pop up that remind you that you're still in disguise.

http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/3528/disguise.jpg

As you see, the message itself displays fine, but the little square image next to it needs some adjusting.

I got this bug yesterday too. At first, I wasn't sure if indeed it was a bug as I'm only still working through the tutorial missions and had no reference point to what it really should look like (first time I had seen it pop up)

Hope this helps.

Try editing the falloutprefs.ini in My Games as well, I was having a similar problem until I edited that file.

This is what worked for me, thank you!

The defult UI is optimized for consoles. Because they are normally used with TVs which can not produce the same resolutions that most computer monitors can, so they need to make everything big and readable.

Orly....

And it would have been an absurd idea for the devs to spend a few hours resizing things when they were making the PC port would it?

DarN UI is hardly cobbled together, he's been working on it for years.

He's been working on UI's for Bethesda games for years, he's been working on the FNV version for a couple of days. I didn't mean to suggest Darns work is haphazard, it's brilliant, I was merely pointing out that by himself, unpaid, he's managed to create a more suitable PC UI in his spare time without even seeing the game running. Yet this was considered to be far too much effort by Bethesda/Obsidian to be worthwhile doing.
