when you drink from puddles in the street, "because you never know when you will find your next source of water."

... you think of saving before attempting something important.

...So many times....

... when you shoot your neighbor cause you want to wear their hat.

When you open the console and clone that hat for yourself.

Telling your wife here cooking makes you wish for a nuclear winter

I believe in some states this qualifies as a suicide attempt.

I did this long before I first played the original Fallout :) I have at least 70-80 bottle caps of sodas they don't make anymore. The trick is, don't use a bottle opener, that bends the cap. Instead, hook the edge on the counter and strike sharply downwards. This pops the cap off in a pristine condition. Some I got myself, others were given to me by friends and relatives who know about my collection.

I use my lighter... trick I learned bartending. Grip tightly around the neck close to the cap, wedge the lighter under your finger and the cap. Leverage on the lighter, and cap pops it off without bending it. I did the counter trick once, and broke the neck of the bottle clean off... man was the guy pissed.

I've seen people do that successfully and to disastrous effect, lol... it's pretty nifty.

... you try to barter for groceries with a leather jacket, a couple sticks of dynamite, an old knife, and a handful of bottle caps.
... every two birthdays you choose a new perk.
... you start thinking flora/fauna doesn't look natural.

...When you sleep 24 hours in a random ruined house in a dessert somewhere.
...When you merge items to repair them.
...When you can zoom out of your face and see yourself walking around.

...when you waste your wife's time explaining to her how you're not sure you're emotionally ready to leave Novac for big-city, New Vegas-style life.
...when you find some random junk that isn't from Fallout, which you immediately pick up, assuming it's a rare crafting item. (I did this on the stairs at work when I spotted a spring.)
