Johnny Guitar

Big Iron is the only song in the game that doesnt pretty much make me want to go insane with rage and start shooting every NPC. maybe because Black Mountain Radio doesnt broadcast into the zones I frequent.

I love the way Rhonda keeps making suggestive comments to help Tabitha get started all the time. This especially applies to when they're discussing 'dum dums.'

You know that on radio rhonda and tabitha is both acted by tabitha? Rhonda is a robot whose broken and in need of repair so she just acts for rhonda but both voices questions and answers are tabithas

They really need to add more songs to the playlist!

Don't spoil it for me but I do hope 'Mr Vegas' is a real entity in the game like three dog. I actually need to kill that creepy man.

Spoiler
Mr. Vegas is AI programmed by Mr. House :) you read it on your own!

It strange to assume that it's the budget problem.

'cause They somehow managed to get one Nat King Cole's song
and that would have cost a lot.

More likely , someone responsible for this got lazy on the way.

Well, after you fix up Black Mountain that channel goes quiet! Too bad, it was so funny.
Then there are just the two channels.
All the songs are right there in the music subdirectory - they're MP3.

I love In The Shadow Of The Valley, what a gorgeous song and magnificent performance (created specially for this game).
And of course Big Iron is a classic.
Johnny Guitar is a special performance - young people don't realize, this is how it used to be.
The singer was everything, the words were sung very clearly so everyone could follow the story, and the band was just background.
Electricity was often optional, or simply not available.

But hearing them all too much could drive anyone mental (ie. Lady Gaga heheh...) especially Johnny Guitar!
BTW there are 48 songs (all MP3) in the subdirectory.

Clearly the radio is playing certain ones over and over, even if you realize some of these songs are to be played only at special moments in the plot.
But the songs are all right there (no G.E.C.K. required).

There are actually more songs in NV than there was in F3, its just the way the spread out among the three stations(Stupid idea)so if you have been playing for five hours while listing to the same station of course your gonna hear the same song more than once.

Also, for some reason not all of the songs are being used, theres something like 40 ish songs, and only about 30 or so are being used.

So if you take out the black mountain radio station, the possible list of songs to hear is reduced?

As mentioned earlier, there are actually PLENTY of songs, the player is just bugged to only play a few.

How BASIC stuff like this didn't get fixed before release is beyond me.

Yeah, the song list gets pretty old pretty quick. There are some good songs, but it would be nice if there were 15-20 individual songs for the two main stations (NVR and Mojave). I'm playing on PS3, so I can understand the inability to put too much, but still...if GTA can have a bunch of songs for many different radio stations, surely, more variety shouldn't be out of the question for Fallout?

The funniest thing is how apparently nobody listens to the same songs in the west as they do in the Capital Wasteland.

If they'd kept that playlist and added all these new songs, we'd be golden.

Whether or not there are actually fewer songs in New Vegas, it definitely FEELS like it, and there are fewer really good songs that really set the mood or hit the mark, like that butcher song or the Ink Spots tracks in F3. Maybe it's because in F3 we had one music station that felt like it played a good variety because all the songs were on the one station, and Agatha's violin music, whereas in New Vegas we have two main stations with a standard issue music load spread very thinly between them. And don't get me started on the lean DJ script.

I'm not actually counting the songs or looking up information, so whatever the reason, the music presentation ultimately feels sparse and as boring as watching grass trying to grow in the Mojave.

i cant stand johnny guitar at all, but if you hear it on a juke box thats kind of far off it makes a creepy echo and gives a sorta horror movie vibe.

usually i just turn the radio all the way down and put on some hatebreed or devildriver.

It finally happened last night. Johnny Guitar played, then Mr. New Vegas did some news. Immediately after that, Johnny Guitar played again! Of course I began randomly shooting people (in game).

I still think Bethesda/Obsidian missed on a great side quest: Johnny GTFO Objective: Find and destroy every copy of Johnny Guitar in the Mojave, removing it from the airwaves. Optional: Find the Peggy Lee NPC and sell her into Legion slavery.

1. Play on PC.
2. Download More Where That Came From, CONELRAD, Mr. New Vegas's Secret Stash, & Radio New Vegas Extender.
3. Set the Radio New Vegas Extender Utility to 215.
4. Check ESP in FOMM
5. Never hear the same song twice. :disguise:

Oh and HEY, don't hate on Johnny Guitar. Although he may be cold and lonely on the exterior, deep down, he's a good man.

i was always under the impression in both fo3 and now new vegas that the few songs on the radio was because of the bombing destroying pretty much all other records. the ones heard were the ones they found working. would also explain why we get country, jazz, swing and even some classical pieces in the same playlists.

i play with the radio off but sometimes i'll switch it on if i'm on a long walk. johnny's alright in my books :)
