*sigh*

What's the big deal about Area 51? I suppose you have to be a bit older to understand. I've had a few chats with some guys here via PM about it, and there's an undercurrent of... frustration, you could say, in that the young 'uns just. don't. get. it.

Growing up as a kid, in the 60's and 70's, Area 51... Project Blue Book, all that sort of thing. It's become part of our psyches, I suppose. As a child, I found it all enormously fascinating. I'm not saying it's true, but it just doesn't seem to be something the internet generation understands. If you're going to make a game that relies rather heavily on '50's culture and sub-culture, as FO does, then Area 51 is, by necessity, a big part of that, and, by association, alien ships, and aliens in test tubes.

Ah, the days of yore....

I was born in '95 and I know a good deal about the history of Area 51. I just don't think it would fit well with Fallout because if Obsidian put Area 51 in the game, then they will either have to depict it realistically (an old base with nothing special) or with aliens. Either way sounds boring to me.
