The same perfume can smell vastly different on a wide range of people, it can also smell quite similar on a vast range of people.
Some people are lucky and their body chemistry works wonderfully with inexpensive perfumes and oils.
Woodsy, spicy botanical scents seem to be more compatible with me than musky or heavily floral and more modern ones.
Lately I have favored unscented soap, and an olive oil with clove hair product. Hubs loves it.

Everyone I knew that wore that reeked, it smelt awful.
First date with my husband, he smelled wonderful. Manly, fresh, and like a ferny glen with a bubbling brook.
I asked him what cologne he was wearing....it was Brut by Faberge.
He bought me a ridiculously expensive cololgne one christmas that made me reek of funeral flowers, I suppose our body chemistsry is quite compatible, we can both wear relatively inexpensive cologne.
