Cancellation rumor

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 8:07 pm

My bad I came across wrong. I did not intend to accuse and didn't of someone lying. I even said that I believed he was probably being honest. My point was simply other developers have feverishly lied in the past and will continue to do so in the future. That just because someone says something doesn't necessarily mean it is true. I did not intend this as an accusation but as an observation.

Though I agree he is probably telling the truth, he isn't owned by some banker investors or under the control of a greedy corporation and that is why Bethesda makes great games. As for tense not my intention. For me this is just regular conversation. LOL we shouldn't take things too seriously life wouldn't be fun then.

Interesting, I never really put much thought into how long it takes to hammer out a contract for Development. Thanks for sharing that piece of info.

But if the time line of that article is correct why would Brian Karis have been surprised and unhappy that he couldn't give a talk about Prey 2

many on the development team were laid off, with the hope they would be rehired
By March 1, the source said, things had progressed a bit, leaving the Prey 2 team hopeful that they would return to work soon

I do like your optimism but the shacknews said above many so it is possible he had been one of the people kept on.

the tweet about the GDC talks being pulled that started the cancellation rumer was on 13 feb and shacknews said the talks were going well until march 1st so its not that far fetched him being surprised about his talks being pulled if the rumors were true. (quotes above)

making a crappy combat survival horror game (which was okay story wise) and blaming clunky controls on their failure.

its a little off topic but the chunky controls in the first 3 resident evil games are what made them so awesome :D having a character that moved like a tank and the camera angles that would sometimes not be in your favor all added to the tension imo.

and totally agree about EA recently they seem to try make a game that appeals to as many people as possible and just end up making something no one likes

I think that it's also good to keep in mind that the Shack News's source may be speaking in good faith, but has an incorrect or incomplete understanding of the situation. It also has to be a highly emotional situation for those most closely involved which means that they may not be thinking as clearly as they normally would. I hope things can be resolved to everyone's advantage.

Thank you Bethesda for not cancelling this game. Ill be patiently waiting for it, hopefully its good enough to require hundreds of gameplay hours like Skyrim. Heck even half the amount (100 hrs or so) would be epic. I need an immersive scifi game, the last one I played let me down hard!!!

Mass effect 3 lol..... ^^^^^^^ I was so eager and pumped up to replay the entire series after finishing the game. i haven't touched it since march after seeing that ending. its collecting dust on my shelf and its a matter of time before i sell it.

Edit: On a happy note, I'm glad this game didn't get cancelled. So far into production, would be a shame for Bethesda.

Happy to see Bethesda themselves stating it has not been cancelled. I just hope it stays a singleplayer game

You know I'm usually against multiplayer or co-op for a lot of games only because it takes a lot more production and development away from single player campaigns. There are alot of games that could have had there SP campaign be twice as long had they not bothered with multiplayer, and there are a lot of titles that should never have MP to begin with. Seems like most publishers want to add MP or online co-op to just about every game being made nowadays because it probably prolongs sales and extra profits to be made on dlc for mp.

I'm torn with P2 cause I want the SP to be the focus and to be many many hours long, but because of the world and missions, I kind of admit that a co-op or certain MP modes could work really well with P2. That is if they did it right and don't put half there resources and dev time on it.

Sorry to get a lil bit off topic. I hope Human head stays onboard with development as it does seem like they were blindsided by Zenimax with cancelling the gdc talks. Seems like they still want to do it but who knows what goes on in publishers minds. Only the devil knows ;-p

The latest rumor I read on Tom's hardware was that Human Head wanted to renegotiate their contract with Bethesda and stopped work on Prey 2 last fall, but the quality of the work done so far is good. If true then Prey 2 could join the original Prey and end up being passed from one developer to the next and delayed for years. Welcome to the winner-takes-all economy.

I'm happy that Bethesda take care so much about the AAA expectations.
