A proper puzzle

I wonder how long it will take me to get to 1 million coins? anyone got that yet? it's hard to keep thinking up challenges after completing so much of the game. Next character will probably be a vampire. I might even be female, never played as female before. Objectives? Travel only by night and drink blood from 1000 NPC's! Killing them after drinking their blood and writing down their name to remind me of my conquests. Muahwahaha

So more or less, you killed things, just abused a game mechanic to keep your record clear.

So your character concept is done, and he is going to roast in the bowls of Oblivion...

Really, there's no such thing as "abusing" anything in a SPMR game.

i don't think of it as 'abusing a game mechanic'. here is why:

From a roleplaying pov, my character visits Solitude. He goes into the Blue Palace and overhears a conversation about a cave. He really wants to buy a house in Solitude (for da wife) but knows the Jarl wont let just anyone move in.

He agrees to check out the cave, hoping its just rumours and no evil is really there.

He goes to Markarth first to visit an old buddy, Vorstag. He says he's scared of going into the cave alone. Vorstag says he'll tag along, and if anything attacks he'll jump in to help his buddy.

I don't feel like I'm attacking or killing anything because when i walk up to the necromancers i'm just wanting to say 'hello, pardon me, whats going on here may i ask?'.

I had just told Vorstag minutes earlier he could leave because i felt 'safe', however the unprovoked attack by the necromancers causes me (being non-aggressive) to run after Vorstag and seeking his help. After he saves me from them I feel 'safe' again, so tell him he can get back to his drinking ale at the Silver Blood Inn.

However, further 'friendly-intended' exploration for da Jarl (to get in her good books) means more hostile necromancers are met upon. Thus I run after Vorstag again, seeking his protection once again. So on and so forth. Hithero Tithero.

What do you want me to do? Spend my life living in Inns/Taverns? Shacks? Slumming it up in Shore's Stone?

Nay I tell you! I am a man of action! (Well Vorstag is lol) You say 'abusing game mechanic', I say 'Vivid roleplaying imagination' and 'really wanting da house for ma wife or she will kill me!' lol

Furthermore, I did not create a 'Pacifist' character, I created a 'Non-Combat' character who wanted to obtain money. He wanted to avoid killing anything, but knew that if it was in self defense then it was okay.

So I dont think he will burn in oblivion. Besides, it was worth all that cave crawling just to see the look on Sygjla's face when we moved into the big house.

I have to say, after reading the solution I feel... disappointed.

Maybe that's just me and that this type of character isn't my cup of tea. But if I were to play a merchant character, he'd definitely run his business like the Mafia. lol

A mafia character would be interesting. Horses heads and illegal skooma dealing and all that.

Sorry the solution disappointed you. This type of playthrough is not for everyone. If anyone has a better solution or strategy I'm all ears.

if you use a shout or any type of spell then it effects the Magic stats page

I didn't say you need to Shout. You need to do something to alert them - that can be a shout, or an arrow into the wall by them (you're not attacking THEM, so its fine), or just run in and say 'hi', then train them into the Draugr. That said... Shouting at empty space adjusts the Magic page..? I didn't mean Shout AT them.

The wife is problem because you've got to do quests for them like find the owner of the golden claw but the rest is easy just ask people in dragonsreach about house or in markarth

There are various tactics like you suggest (eg lead them to an angry Draugr)
The only thing that is certain, is if you want to be able to buy any of the 5 houses then people/creatures need to die. You cannot buy any of the houses without death occurring.

Yep, thats true. You could however shack up in one of the houses in wilderness which have safe storage I guess.

Yes, but the wife wont live with you there.

There are plenty of options if you are not married. But if you are married, want nice bookcases for your books and safe storage then the 'Big 5' are the only way to go.

Your solution reminds me of a little story.

The Budda is standing on the bank of a river when an old man approaches him and says "Budda I have spent my entire life meditating and studying, and I can now walk across water without getting wet". Budda looks at the old man and responds, "but the ferry only costs a nickel".

Well then, i took the ferry many times in my first 100+ hours of playing. Then tried walking on water just to see how it was different?

Very very nice -- especially the way you worked around the constraints of your rules and the system. I hope you never become a politician!

Thankyou GreenMyEyes :)

I tried going after the Riften house today, Honeyside, but could not get it. I was doing the skooma quest where you have to go into the Warehouse and 2 men immediately attack you. I thought on my feet and ran back outside and was grateful when the guards killed them.

However, on my Crime stats screen, I kept getting a Trespass = 1, because you have to enter the Warehouse to lure them out. Oh well. Think I'll try the Markarth house next lol
