I happen to live with a female modder. She created the Elder Scroll's first texture pack and one of Morrowind's first total conversions: Morrowind4Kids. In fact I met her on these forums and our mutual love of Morrowind modding was what brought us together. Modding has been a shared interest ever since. One of her daughters met her husband through gaming and both of them are now getting interested in modding Skyrim together.
So, yes, in my experience it does pull in the ladies.
This.
My wife is a Gamer. When we were dating, she lived in North Carolina and I live in Missouri. We met on a gaming site similar to these Forums. We used to Skype/date, I'd be playing Halo 3 or Oblivion while she played Assassin's Creed, and we'd have our time and our discussions over Skype while playing.
When she moved out here and we got married, we still game together. She loves TES series, but she doesn't like the controls for the game, but she
loves watching me play it and loves the depth of the stories. In turn, I'm her navigator for her Assassin's Creed and Fable games.
My kids are being raised by the both of us in a Gamer Household. We're a whole Family of Gamers.
So yeah, it also pulls in the Ladies for me, even though neither my wife nor I mod, we love firing up Skyrim on my laptop and trying mods of all types. We're just fascinated by some of the stuff that the community can come up with.
The old argument to make fun of Gamers by saying that our hobby, our lifestyles, repels the females is more incorrect with every day that passes. Female Gamers are on the rise, they're not such a rarity any more.
